I read this http://www.finance-guy.net/streetonomic/usi-tech-bitcoin-review review of a Bitcoin investment package.

looks like its risky but at the same time you can put in a pretty small amount so I bought 1 package.  So yeah testing it out is a gamble and I might lose 50 Euro worth of Bitcoin, but if the system works, then I can buy more packages later and earn a lot more than that

Bitcoin ready to take off!!!

Had a read of this:
http://www.finance-guy.net/finblog/bitcoin-storm-brewing

Bitcoin looks similar to how it was back in late 2013 Smiley  Similar price and volatility... that was right before the big jump over $1,100

are we ready for the next big jump?  How high do you think we'll go on this one?

Are you using less Bitcoin than you did last year?
by

on 03/06/2015, 08:38:13 UTC
I just read through this post:
http://www.finance-guy.net/finblog/bitcoin-vol-up

if daily transactions are down 20%, then it makes sense that we are using Bitcoin less than we did 6 months ago.

What do you guys think, is Bitcoin use falling?

If so, what can we do to help increase it?

Central banks have the biggest balance sheets ever, which it means that in order to increase interest rates they will have to sell more bonds than ever, putting additional pressure on the stability of public finance.

Can you explain this bit.  If they are getting more interest from the money people borrow from them, why do they need to sell more bonds?

A different look at the Bitcoin market:
http://www.finance-guy.net/finblog/bitcoin-not-a-bubble

it's not a very positive opinion, but I agree that something needs to be done to attract the general masses to use Bitcoin.  Something needs to make BTC more attractive than cash for everyday people.

What kind of incentives do you think would work for the people you know?

How would you convince a newbie to use BTC?

I just read this:
http://www.finance-guy.net/finblog/what-is-bitcoin

It got me thinking that most people I talk to, don't understand enough about tech, or cryptography, to fully appreciate BTC.

How would you explain it to them on a simple level so that they might become believers.

A simple hook might help generate larger scale adoption by the masses.

Great idea, six months ago.  A lot more risky today though.  The price could shoot back up and then the shorts get burned.

But six months ago, we were all saying 'this is the bottom, it's going to shoot back over $1,000 any day now'.  It seems that as the price keeps falling, we are never far from the bottom...

I think it's time to have a go on the sell side... even if it's just one coin, I want to see how it pans out...

What do you guys think?

It's rubbish.  As soon as I saw "mining is dying" and "there is no intrinsic value", I stopped reading.
I
Well the miners are dropping off...

I guess he is looking for the monetary returns of Bitcoin, I'm not sure how that works... Where do you think the intrinsic value is?

I professionally don't recommend trading in these conditions right now... You will lose your money.   Very few will make $ or BTC.   Please take my advice.  I think we are still going to proceed in a downward trend too even with this coinbase news.

I thought this CFD allowed us to profit from further declines in the price.  I tried it with the demo account and turned a small profit after recouping the initial buy/sell margin...

Is it too unpredictable at present?

Given that 2015 has seen the price of BTC get a hammering, maybe it would be worth looking at options to hedge with shot positions

what do you think?

would you use something like this?

I think that the infrastructure is great, but it needs to be linked to money people are familiar with, otherwise nobody will be interested in it.

Re: Can we still mine from home?

Sure you can.  Anyone can mine from home, ROI is a whole different story though.

If you do decide to go ahead and mine, make sure it's inexpensive, energy efficient, and you view it strictly as a hobby, not a money printing machine.

I guess this is a key point.  If you mine from home, you have to go into it expecting to lose money... It's a pity because validating the blockchain is an important function and it was awesome when the open book was maintained by the collaborative of all the people... Now it's maintained by a few big players  starting to look like banks, hope they don't start charging fees like the banks Smiley

I just had a read of this:
http://www.finance-guy.net/finblog/is-difficulty-creating-centralization-of-bitcoin

It makes a fair point, that mining pools are becoming too powerful, and I don't know about you but my home computer would be useless at mining.

What do you think?  is the growing difficulty bad for mining?

You can still mine from home, don't forget you save from hiring people and renting a office. Now you need cheap power....

And don't forget the supercomputer you need in order to solve the equation Smiley

The underlying problem is in cash flows.  More money is leaving bitcoin than coming in so the price is sliding... what will turn it around?

Re: Are You Spending Bitcoin?

I would spend more if there were more ways to spend it.... I think that is the problem at the moment.

I just read this:
http://www.finance-guy.net/finblog/how-will-you-spend-your-bitcoin/10/8/2014

It raises an interesting point that if we spend Bitcoin to buy stuff, the companies will most likely sell the BTC pretty quickly.

What do you think?

Will shopping with Bitcoin be good or bad for the price of BTC?

I always plan to spend some but I never do. Sad

Rather than taking an exchange rate hit to 'replace it as you spend it' wouldn't it make more sense to just buy it as you need it, so buy the amount you need and spend it instantly so there is less exchange rate risk and you still support the system?
