I got some S3+, S4 and C1 coupons to sell. All expire 11/30 but safer to assume 11/29 because of time difference in China. Contact me with an offer if interested.

Hey all, I was updating my batch 1 S3 units to the latest firmware and one of them is having troubles booting now.  I cannot access it via the webui or via ssh.  I attempted a hard reset using the button on the front so I know the address of the miner should be 192.168.1.99.  Red light is blinking. I'm familiar with how to talk to the miners as I've had around 10 S1, a couple S2, and 10 S3.  This is the only one giving me issues.

I swapped control boards with another S3 and it's working fine, so the hashing boards are okay.  I sent an email requesting an RMA for the control board.

Does anybody have anything else I can try?

Thanks,
Dave

If I remember correctly when updating the FW you're not able to retain your old settings so you'll need to start from scratch and match your computer to the original S3 IP address and input all of your settings again.

The site says the S3+ B7 were supposed to be shipped the 20th. I have yet to receive any shipping information for products I purchased for more than a week ago. Whats the hold up?

If you ordered an S3+ that would be Batch 8 which will begin shipping Sept 20 or earlier.

Okay. I don't want to start rumors, so somebody else, PLEASE investigate...

I ordered from Bitmain directly for the first time within minutes of the S3+ going up for sale. I can now view my order, but the edit button has gone away.

From lurking in the forums, I have read that the Edit button going away always meant that things were about to ship.

The S3+ isn't slated to ship until on or around Sept 20th.

Has anybody else's Edit button gone away for their S3+ order, and could that really mean that things are going to be happening soon??

Interested in the opinion of those who have done this before...

Thx.

Mine has been missing for several days now, don't hold your breath.

I just applied the firmware update on one of my miners and after the reboot something was wrong. It wouldn't start mining and the CPU load would be very high. I went ahead to reset the settings and rebooted. Now I can't access the device at all.

How is the physical hard reset done again?

pin hole next to lan port /led

Also, if you haven't done so already, make sure to uncheck the "save settings" on the firmware update page.
If don't your Miner Status page while remain blank.
That last FW update caused more problems than it fixed so went back to the older one.

I received my B6 S3s today - the first ASICs I've bought since my BFL SC Single Day 0 pre-order that cost me 210BTC

I know it's been a little over a year since I received my single but the S3 just exudes quality compared to the crap that was BFL. Even my best friend who doesn't mine but has helped me set up many a GPU rig commented on how much nicer the S3s are.

I have a question about the interface.  3 of the S3s show the standard info at the bottom of the miner status page (shows the chain #, asic #, clock speed, fan speed, temps, status).  One of the miners says "This section contains no values yet".  Even if I refresh the page nothing shows up there.  Do I have to reset it or powercycle it?  I'm running it at stock speed and am currently viewing it remotely through teamviewer on my office network.

I'd start with the GUI reboot.

Has anyone else with a Batch 8 order lose their edit option?
Seems a little too soon for that to happen.
It may be a way of protecting your purchase at the current price. With the HUGE drop in BTC value the last couple of days It's possible they may have closed editing and will raise the btc price very soon to reflect the current exchange rate.
Shipping is starting soon?  Grin

I don't think that they've shipped out all of the batch 7's yet so I think probably not.

Sounds reasonable enough. Because the BTC price drop was the reason I pulled the trigger and placed the order. Thanks.

Has to laugh at the s1 upgrade kit why would ya put all the parts in the kit to upgrade it to an s3 minus the 2nd fan when the s3 has the second fan there for a reason,,,,     That very odd and strange not to have the 2nd fan in the upgrade kit

The parts list didn't include the case cover either.

S3+ for sales shipping starts on September 20th or earlier

omg, 5 weeks with no sales of S3's......

i wonder what they changed to make them + ??

revised hardware design makes the S3+ more stable at higher frequency.

Will the S1 kit run as cool as the S3 without a case cover?

Hey Everybody,

So I just setup my newly received S3s from Batch 4. All work well except for this one particular S3 which keeps on showing hash rate of ~338gh/s. On further inspection from the Miner Status page, I found that Chain #2 is showing ASIC Status of "-o-o-o-o -o-o-o-o -o-o-o-o -ooo-o-o" & ASIC # as "32" which is different from all my other miners showing "oooooooo oooooooo" and "16" respectively.

Any idea what is wrong? Everything is running on stock, connecting 2 S3s to a Cooler Master V1200 Platinum (will eventually run 3 on this later all on stock but 2 for now)

First time I ever heard of this one. That chain 2 board sounds more like it's from an S1.
I would first try a reboot and if that doesn't help maybe you should pull the cover and check that board.
If both boards look the same you could try re-seating all of your cables or just make sure they're plugged in all the way.

I have been looking at the explanations about how to get the S3 antminer mining bitcoins.

Bear in mind, I haven't mined at all yet, and I also am not really familiar with electronics and messing around
with power supply and such.(it doesn't come ready to mine, but I would have to get power supply stuff myself and do some kind of paper clip electrical trick etc..)

To be honest, the explanations seem fairly daunting, with room for errors being many possibilities because
of so many steps involved in getting the S3 mining bitcoins.

What do you think? Is buying an S3 Antminer a good idea for me,

or do you think I will encounter problems in one of the many steps involved, and never actually get to the point where I am ever mining bitcoins?

I think that no matter how you go about it you're almost guaranteed to have problems. That's just how it is. But maybe your best bet would be to start by reading Doggie's Guide (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=702653.0).

But sadly no.

Any info on why?
I'm guessing a couple of customs agents were bribed into slowing things down by one of the other competitors Grin

Maybe because it says "BITCOIN MINER" literally in capital letters on the outside of the box.......

What the hell where they thinking?HuhHuhHuh??

Saw a post a ways back by some member who said that he used to work for UPS international.
He said that those types of messages were usually due to paperwork problems.
Could be almost anything, forms not filled correctly, descriptions, piece counts, etc.
But it could be because it said "BITCOIN MINER" like the other guy said.

My batch 1 order sent out 7/19 finally arrived in Ontario, CA after passing through Alaska.
Been stuck in Calif. for over 7 hrs. If I get it tomorrow it'll only be a day late.

That's what happened to mine to and I'm in California as well. It followed Anchorage, AK -> Ontario, CA -> Oakland, CA -> San Francisco, CA.

Mine just went from Ontario, CA, United States   07/22/2014   11:14 P.M.   Import Scan to "poof" delivered 20 hours later. With nothing in between.

Anyone else still waiting for customs?  All of my S3s have been stuck there for almost 7 days now.    :-/   I'm losing all kinds of BTC while waiting.

My batch 1 order was sent on 7/19 and got stuck in Chinese customs for 2 days.
Then went through Alaska and had an import scan in Calif and has been stuck there for over a day.
It was supposed to be delivered yesterday but was updated to today.
So not quite as bad as yours but I still got no S3s.

If your S3 is not performing at 440 GHs, may be worth a shot to re-flash it.

Download the firmware here:

https://bitmaintech.com/files/download/antMiner_S320140711.bin

This was from the S3 thread and not sure why I didn't think of this instead of playing around with the freq's - but it worked. Got my unit I had to set at 212 freq to get 420 up to the 440's at the 218. Anyone with under performing units might try.

I reflashed both of my units, and so far, I cant really see a change.  With underclock at 212.50 I was getting 420-430 gh/s and I put them back up to 218.75 and am getting 442 gh on each.

If you used the link above, you were pointed to the original firmware file...... not the new one.

EDIT:  um... what happened to the new firmware file?

Someone's done something on the site because the links for the manual and the firmware have been switched around.

Ok I have removed the heatsink and it seems like the thermal paste is everywhere :/ damn
Maybe that's your issue.  Another user reported a big improvement after cleanup of the excess paste.  Let us know how you go.

Good luck

Do you really believe that it could affect the fact that I cant see the blade in miner page?

At this point if you're getting nothing at all out of that blade could be time to contact Bitmain.
You could DM them from this site or you could try contacting them on their webpage.
Right next to the shopping cart they have a "Mssages" pull down menu that you can use to contact them.

Good luck with your S3.
