What are change addresses on blockchain?
by
jimmypagey
on 21/12/2013, 23:53:27 UTC
Under custom send, should I specify the change address as the 1 and only address itself that I am sending bitcoins to? does this mean that  if I had 12 bitcoins in my blockchain.info hot wallet and I wanted to send 5 bitcoins to a paper wallet address, the other 7 bitcoins go to  a change wallet?  Huh Im really confused because I thought the amount of bitcoins you have goes untouched, why would they turn into "change"??

Blockchain.info Change & sending options?
by
jimmypagey
on 21/12/2013, 11:31:21 UTC
When you import a paper wallet with 12.9000 bitcoins or whatever, it goes to your blockchain wallet, so when you want to import those into a new bitaddress paper wallet, do you use the "Quick Send" option? (I DON'T see a FEES option there?? where is it?) Or do YOU use the "Custom Send" option? what are the differences? Last but not least, So I wanted to send 5 bitcoins and I have 12 in the blockchain hot wallet now,  if you don't send them all 12.9000 to that paper wallet and just 5 does the other 7.9000 become "Change" and wth is change anyways? does it automatically make a change wallet or is it lost? (someone said it would be lost forever??) or does it remain in the blockchain hotwallet untouched until you move the rest?  Huh Thanks, Im a noob still.

How can you see if it was being hacked?  Huh Im only using it to import a paper wallet from the bitcoin ATM in vancouver onto a bitaddress paper wallet I made, so I would need to use blockchain to quickly import it from one paper wallet to another. How can I make sure It's safe?

Im about to import paper wallets from the vancouver bitcoin ATM onto another paper wallet made with bitaddress, before using blockchain to transfer them,  How can I check if the site could possibly be being hacked so I dont get my bitcoins stolen at the time? AND How many confirmations are usually needed for the confirmation of your bitcoin transaction? AND what are the fees? do they go higher for the more bitcoins you send or is it lower if you send more to one address? How long does it usually take?
Thanks, Merry Christmas!!

Re: How secure would these paper wallets be?!
by

So I shouldn't download the new 6.6 bitaddress to create paper wallets then?  Is there a possibility that these bit address paper wallets will ever glitch or be outdated in the future and not work? for each BIP38 batch I create on bitaddress 6.2 should I take 1 wallet out of each 3  and test it to see if a small amount works on it, or is it possible this may compromise the rest of those paper wallets created in that batch of paper wallets? or are all of them generated completely secure and random that can never be linked similar to another wallet in that batch? I saw somewhere they said the page of bitaddress doesn't use something called secure random and all of them are similar or something like this? not too sure though, sorry for the long questions. also wondering, when I downloaded the github and put it on the usb there were like 5 files, One with the bitaddress HTML and then info for JavaScript and things like that, do I need to pull all of them off the usb for it to properly work or just drag the one HTML file off then disconnect the usb?? Thanks

Huh  Huh I have bitaddress 6.2 saved on a USB unused from 2 months ago, is it safe to use for creating BIP38 encrypted paper wallets or is it pretty updated since they have release 2 new versions since then? what are the new update differences anyways? I'll be storing lots of bitcoins on these paper wallets and it would be generated offline on Ubuntu 13.10 off EPI booting a USB is that all safe and secure? or is there a possibility of this saving into the hard drive memory even if your "trying Ubuntu" on the new MacBook retina pros that use a different type of hard drive? Huh P.S I just bought this MacBook pro so it has NEVER ever been connected to a internet connection yet, just created the USB on my old MacBook off ubuntu

Smiley thank you, so what would the transaction fee be to send 5 Bitcoins each per wallet? still 0.0005 ? or 0.0001? will it only take 1 hour with this fee? and is it possible that I may never see these bitcoins in my paperwallet if it doesn't confirm or is it pretty much a for sure thing??

Is the fee the same if you send 28 bitcoins like you were sending 1 bitcoin to a paperwallet address? and is it guaranteed to be sent to that address or is it possible it may screw up and become a messed up block? I've seen orphaned blocks on blockchain, what does that mean? If I was to get a orphaned block would it still fix it and send it to a paperwallet adress anyway??  And is there a limit of how many bitcoins you can send per wallet?

Is Bitaddress 6.2 SAFE TO USE?
by

on 19/12/2013, 04:13:52 UTC
I have Bitaddress.org from 2 months ago, version 6.2 saved on a USB and about to put 28 BTC on a BIP38 encrypted wallet, is it SAFE? WILL IT BE BUGGY CAUSE THEY UPDATED IT TWICE SINCE THEN? What are the new updates for 6.6 that makes it better? Thanks . AND is there anything I need to confirm when I send the bitcoins through blockchain onto a paperwallet? How many fees do I have to send to get it to confirm?

But does any printer file/data save cause its on the new MacBook retina? it only boots through EPI boot mode, Is this a bad thing? will it be storing data hidden somewhere in my hard drive? Are USB's alright to use for Ubuntu live OS too? Like could it save anything? And should I just use the bitaddress from 2 months ago and make encrypted paper wallets?? still alright?? or should I just download the  new version of bitaddress? Thanks.

Is Ubuntu 13.10 safe for creating paper wallets!??
by
jimmypagey
on 17/12/2013, 07:15:01 UTC
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew if it was safe to run the other version of Ubuntu- 13.10 burned to a USB for using it on a MacBook pro retina, booting it up through the EFI option since clicking on the "Windows" option doesn't detect that the Ubuntu OS is there. so anyways booting it using the EFI option and clicking "try Ubuntu" rather then installing it. Would that be safe and secure or is the other version-Ubuntu 12.04 better to use for creating offline paper wallets? I tried to boot from that version first but it wouldn't work matter what on this MacBook, (works on older computer though) so only the 13.10 Ubuntu works on the newer MacBook. how ever the screen resolution of Ubuntu  is extremely small and you can barely see the cursor, would this effect generating paperwallets? if it could be a glitch? (Using the exact same Ubuntu live USB on the older MacBook starts up with a normal screen size rather then it does on the new MacBook).
(BTW running Ubuntu would be kept offline at all times) & Would running this new version of Ubuntu possibly save onto the new MBP's memory system? Older 12.04 Ubuntu does NOT boot on it at all)

I was also wondering if the new Bitaddress version 2.6.6 (the downloadable zip off github) is safe rather then using the older version from a month ago? I wanted to use Bitaddress for BIP38 encryption for a few wallets paper wallets .

Smiley Thank you,

Happy holidays everyone!!

BITADDRESS.ORG UPADATED?! IS IT SAFE TO USE?
by
jimmypagey
on 28/11/2013, 03:14:52 UTC
Just downloaded the 2.6.2 version a week ago to a usb for OFFLINE use of it, then I was just about to print off some paper wallets, then I go to the GITHUB site to double check and notice they just released a new verson 2.6.3  ...it says they updated some things but its brand new.. Is it unsafe to use the older version from 2 weeks ago if they just put a new version out OR IS THE NEW VERSION possibly FULL OF BUGS AND GLITCHES where it is unsafe to send your bitcoins to due to a error in the new version that you would never notice until 10 yrs from now when you wanna cash your bitcoins in  Huh Can someone tell me if the new updated version is safe (THE ONE ON GITHUB THAT YOU DOWNLOAD) I haven't seen any PGP signs for it though?? could I still be safe with the old version? OR is that buggy?
