Re: Smartcoin Linux mining administration. [NEW LOCKUP DETECTION & FAILOVER SUPPORT]

I was getting stale shares from 9%-38% with SmartCoin w/ my 4 rigs/workers - now back hooked up to pool straight, I'm at 0.10% ...is this a known side-effect of running SmartCoin? I don't know how much extra is going on behind the scenes with processes, etc. I do know how much I dig SmartCoin though - will keep updating.

This isn't a known side effect of smartcoin.  I run 3 instances per card normally with less than 0.05% rejected shares.  Its normal for rejection percent to start a little higher and then settle out sometimes though.  Can you give me some information on how you have things set up?
How many instances are you running per card? And to how many different pools? Which miner? etc.

I kept things running for over 8 hours with only 1 instance per card to 1 pool, phoenix - and was getting those high numbers w/ 3, 2-card rigs and 1, 1-card rig. Open to suggestions for multi-instance/pool..can anyone elaborate on how stales form? Could it be from other (home) network load/usage, computer system processes, pool, other?

just update catalyst to 11.6 it is easy copy/paste job, 10 min max:
that did the trick - now I don't need to rely on AMDOverdriveCtrl anymore, thanks! Have applied `--od-commitclocks` so my setclocks persists. ty

if I don't use AMDOverdriveCtrl - I get the following message after passing `aticonfig --od-setclocks=985,285 --adapter=all`:

Code:
ERROR - Set clocks failed for Adapter 1 - ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
Please check that input values were valid

So AMDOverdriveCtrl must be doing something...And it's not `aticonfig --od-enable --adapter=all` ... that didn't change anything.

It would be good to know how to script Screen anyway - for general Linux education.

If there are any commands that you want to have run automatically when smartcoin starts, create a file "init.sh" in the smartcoin directory.  Then you can add your commands that you want run on startup.

Admittedly undereducated about exactly what AMDOverdriveCtrl is doing to my overclock settings/performance - but I have to start it for both cards everytime I reboot my rig. How can I script this with a detached screen? I'm trying in an init.sh file w/ SmartCoin:

Code:
#!/bin/bash
screen -dmS ctl0 "AMDOverdriveCtrl -i 0"
screen -dmS ctl1 "AMDOverdriveCtrl -i 3"

While I support this decision to keep spam down - I'd like to get to the SmartCoin forum to ask when multi-computer support will be offered. I have SmartCoin running on 1 rig and it's awesome! I understand it is the intention of the author to support monitoring multiple mining rigs from one machine - but I haven't seen any support documentation on how-to and am looking for that Smiley I would very much appreciate it if I could get whitelisted to proceed to that forum, so I can strike while the iron is hot (just donated some BTC to the author).

Talking with friends and neighbors, it seems a huge barrier is the technical nature of Bitcoin e.g. understanding it in general & how only computer-savvy users can set up a mining rig. But better and better videos are coming out explaining Bitcoin - and I guess they could always buy a pre-built mining rig Tongue I'd be happy to set one up for them too Wink

The bearish scenario is that it has already had the only run its going to have, and will slowly die from here.
