Re: Forum moderation policy
by
jnns
on 16/05/2018, 14:44:33 UTC
The policy to not remove anything worked when the forum was small. Now that we have thousands of posts a day, we can't afford 50% of them being junk. The moderators are now instructed to be less tolerant of low-value posts.

Some guidelines:

1. Free speech - you can say anything as long as it is relevant and presented in a calm and polite manner. Swearing, SHOUTING etc. make your post more likely to be removed.
2. No zero value posts or threads, like "SELL SELL SELL"
3. No pointless or uninteresting threads.
4. No referral code spam
5. No NSFW
 content

How is the value of a post evaluated?

This is all about QUALITY. If we want to have posts to qualify to a certain standard, we must have measures for that.

So how we get those measures, who has them?
The answer is: no one, because post's quality measures actually should be an agreement between forum members. In respect of the forum posts, we need:

1) A standard of LOW-NORMAL-GOOD-EXCELLENT quality post.
2)  How we define them (measures).

If that quality standard for forum posts is described clearly enough in the forum guidelines, everyone should be able to assess the quality/value of their posts.
And if someone goes against the forum culture, moderators will stop them.

All in all, without clear, but short descriptions of what is acceptable and what is not in forum posts, people continue to wonder, why their posts get removed sometimes.

Re: What is that psycological on trading?
by

Have you ever bought altcoin but after that the price actually decreased deeply? After many times it becomes bad suggestions for me every time I will buy, any suggestions from you who have traded more experienced than me? What's wrong and needs to be fixed? Thank you

As much as I have noticed, this seems to be something that all (especially newcomers to crypto) experience. I have experienced the same, and it has made me laugh how the price moves against my expectations after a trade. What I have learned of this, is:
  • Invest only to those coins you really feel good about and that you know they have strong team and real working product.
  • Learn to use your intuition (cut feeling), it does not lie, but you need some practice before you can be sure how it works.
  • Keep your mind calm. Just tell yourself that crypto is volatile (goes up and down), but everything will be well again and you get your profit (You certainly will, if you stay calm).
  • Look for serious sources of information and avoid manipulative hype.
  • Educate yourself as much as you can, and you will be better and  better in your choices.
  • Believe in yourself. Have your goals and stick on them. "See" and feel as if you already have your dreams fulfilled.

Good luck and be happy!

How about trailing stop limit orders?
by
jnns
on 12/05/2018, 14:58:31 UTC

Can one use trailing stop limit orders when trading crypto currency?
I haven't found an exchange with this option, unfortunately.
So, I wonder, are there any exchanges that provide trailing stop limit orders for crypto currency trading? What are your experiences with that? Thanks.

Re: Why do you involved in Cryptocurrency
by
jnns
on 06/05/2018, 18:19:12 UTC
There are different reasons why we do things generally in life, Cryptocurrency too is not an exemption. Different people have their reasons for involving in Cryptocurrency as a whole. To me, I first heard about Cryptocurrency in 2016 after my adventures with ponzi schemes. The impression I first have was impressive because I was in a good hands then, my mentor was a keen and always ready to help person and he achievement was there to show for it. So I was curious to get started and join the big guns in Cryptocurrency world.

Share your views on the reasons that got you involve in Cryptocurrency and let the newbies learn.

I got involved in cryptocurrency, because I see it as an opportunity to achieve freedom.

However, first we need financial freedom in this world, where most of people have to work as slaves today for a little compensation. They often feel disappointed and unhappy.
And there are a small part of those who own 99% of all the wealth in the world. Are they happy? I guess not.
On the other hand, there are many who don't own anything, but only problems.

It may sound idealistic, but I think that cryptocurrencies are a step to the directions, where people can gain back their right to have their basic needs satisfied (healthy food, housing, primary commodities, good social relationships...).
If and when cryptocurrencies succeed to create a system where wealth is distributed more equally among people, true freedom can be possible.
What I mean by this is that you are not forced to work for getting your bills paid anymore, but you can devote yourself to what really makes you happy.

Happy is the person who does work that (s)he knows best and really wants to do. Not just to earn money, but because of joy of pure value creation for yourself and for others.
When everyone creates value by what (s)he best can, no one will be unhappy anymore  Smiley

Re: [ANN] COBINHOOD - ZERO Trading Fee Cryptocurrency Exchange

cobinhood deserves better volume. otherwise they will be very unsuccessful. i'm an ico investor and i trust this project. come on cob team. do something.

Who says they deserve better volume? They are nothing compared to the big players right now.
To a certain extent, this is the case. Some innovative mechanisms need to be introduced to attract customers' attention and use.

They need to change a lot of things to even come a little bit closer to the strong volume exchanges.

Can you give any examples, what you think they should change exactly?

I believe Cobinhood will be one of the top exchanges some time in the future, because they are technically advanced, easy to use and they have nice UI.
It takes some time for people to find them, but they should invest more in professional marketing to start having volume on their exchange.
Otherwise it's like a vicious circle: People come, get disappointed and leave, since they can not trade having not enough other traders to trade against.

Re: Merit is so unfair
by
jnns
on 30/04/2018, 09:45:47 UTC

I think merit system is a good one in principle. But I have noticed that in some threads there are trolls and spammers, who use vulgar and offensive speech towards other participants.

They insult everyone who dares to have a different viewpoint than they express. So there is no true discussion possible, as they dominate on the thread and every normal person just quits participating, since it is not possible due to that kind of ongoing trolling.

What makes me wonder is that they have very high merit. How is that possible? Do they give merit to each other??

Anyway, I think it would be necessary, that the forum had better control about annoying behavior of some persons.
This control is needed to compliment the merit system.
Would it be possible, admins?

Re: what wallet can you recommend?
by

on 25/04/2018, 18:18:30 UTC
Hi there,

i'm quite unsure about where to save my btc and eth. personally as i travel a lot i will have difficulties using a hardware-wallet, so i was thinking of a kind of mobile version. is there anything you could recommend?

In your case I would recommend to hold your coins in several different wallets and also in some good exchanges. Split between different places.
Just because there tend to be problems now and then with one or another wallet, we never know, which wallet gets hacked next.
MyEtherWallet is having sequrity issues, not long ago there were problems with BTC Electrum wallet...

Using this strategy you will not lose all your investment if one of your wallets get hacked.
Exodus is a good wallet for several cryptos. You can find comparative reviews of crypto wallets, also mobile versions in the Internet. Just choose which one fits best your needs.

I think it's good to have a hardware wallet anyway in case you have long term holdings. Trezor is a good one for that. Just find a perfect secret place that no one but only you know, and put your Trezor there for when you are traveling. No need to take it with you to your trip.

Re: [ANN][BCC] Bitconnect Coin - Decentralized Cryptocurrency
by
jnns
on 23/04/2018, 17:23:15 UTC
As for Bitconnect, so there is NO REAL PROOF it to be a scam/ponzi actually. NO FACTS, but only opinions that certain people spread over the Internet.
Personal opinions are NO proof!

There is really only one indisputable fact that is enough to call it a scam - Bitconnect stopped paying the unsustainable interest rates, i.e. the ponzi collapsed. But if you want to be more specific - see below.

https://www.sec.gov/fast-answers/answersponzihtm.html

Quote
What is a Ponzi scheme?
A Ponzi scheme is an investment fraud that involves the payment of purported returns to existing investors from funds contributed by new investors. Ponzi scheme organizers often solicit new investors by promising to invest funds in opportunities claimed to generate high returns with little or no risk. In many Ponzi schemes, the fraudsters focus on attracting new money to make promised payments to earlier-stage investors to create the false appearance that investors are profiting from a legitimate business.

Why do Ponzi schemes collapse?
With little or no legitimate earnings, Ponzi schemes require a consistent flow of money from new investors to continue. Ponzi schemes tend to collapse when it becomes difficult to recruit new investors or when a large number of investors ask to cash out.

Quote
What are some Ponzi scheme "red flags"?
Many Ponzi schemes share common characteristics. Look for these warning signs:

High investment returns with little or no risk. Every investment carries some degree of risk, and investments yielding higher returns typically involve more risk. Be highly suspicious of any "guaranteed" investment opportunity.

Overly consistent returns. Investment values tend to go up and down over time, especially those offering potentially high returns. Be suspect of an investment that continues to generate regular, positive returns regardless of overall market conditions.

Unregistered investments. Ponzi schemes typically involve investments that have not been registered with the SEC or with state regulators. Registration is important because it provides investors with access to key information about the company's management, products, services, and finances.

Unlicensed sellers. Federal and state securities laws require investment professionals and their firms to be licensed or registered. Most Ponzi schemes involve unlicensed individuals or unregistered firms.
Secretive and/or complex strategies. Avoiding investments you do not understand, or for which you cannot get complete information, is a good rule of thumb.

Issues with paperwork. Do not accept excuses regarding why you cannot review information about an investment in writing. Also, account statement errors and inconsistencies may be signs that funds are not being invested as promised.

Difficulty receiving payments. Be suspicious if you do not receive a payment or have difficulty cashing out your investment. Keep in mind that Ponzi scheme promoters routinely encourage participants to "roll over" investments and sometimes promise returns offering even higher returns on the amount rolled over.

That's nice that you give all these definitions here, good to know, thanks.

But most of them have nothing to do with Bitconnect, as it has not "promised to invest funds in opportunities claimed to generate high returns with little or no risk".
If you claim so, you are lying. Have you read their Terms and Conditions? I have.

Please show us, where on Bitconnect’s website is promised  "guaranteed" investment opportunity? You can’t, because there are no such claims, and have never been.

So, please deal with FACTS, not just definitions you seem so much wanting to apply on Bitconnect.

Each organization collapses when people stop participating in it.
Bitconnect was very successful. What happened was that a lot of new people entered through Bitconnect into the crypto space.
These newcomers did not consider the risks of investing in crypto, but had desire to quickly solve their financial problems and fulfill dreams.
They forgot the first investment rule: Do not invest what you cannot afford to lose.

We all know that each adult is responsible for their decisions.
If some people made wrong decisions due to greed and foolishness, does this mean that Bitconnect is a scam? NO.

The organized massive FUD and hate campaign started when Bitconnect run on the sixth place on the top of Coinmarketcap and passed DASH.
What’s the reason YOU participate in that campaign?

All in all, I wonder, why you are so eager to make untrue claims on Bitconnect actually?

If you want to spend your time doing something really valuable, then why don’t you deal with REAL scams?
There have been very-very many of them over there, but nobody does talk about them. Why so?
Just wondering.

Wow....The hate for Bitconnect is really real! It looks similar to what Bitcoin encountered in its early stages -and still- of being accused as scam, ponzi, bubble!

BitConnect was the reason of the bitcoin and alts unique rally in 2017 thru their education and awareness programs and people were able to sell their coins at all time high.

BCC coin is the only coin that is not manipulated by greedy miners, whales, pump and dump schemes.

The lending program was a small part of the Bitconnect project, however necessary for member trust creation. Now that is halted, I dont see what trolls and haters are still doing here.

This is exactly as you said, the same has happened to Bitcoin. And there are many who still say Bitcoin is a scam because the founder is anonymous.

As for Bitconnect, so there is NO REAL PROOF it to be a scam/ponzi actually. NO FACTS, but only opinions that certain people spread over the Internet.
Personal opinions are NO proof!

But manipulators know that when you keep repeating a lie massively and for long time enough, then people begin to take it as a truth.
This is just what they are doing, just look at the thread. Here are some trolls who systematically keep repeating their ponzi-accusation spam and confusing comments.

In fact, Bitconnect may be what ever -- we do not know, before there will be clear, REAL evidence of what it is.

Those annoying ponzi-singers are just spamming and their goal seems to be to not let normal discussion take place.
It makes me curious, WHY they keep trolling here?? They get paid for that, I suppose?   Cool

Re: Your experience with FOMO (fear of missing out)

Fear of missing out is familiar to many.
It is known from psychology that fear-based factors also affect people in the crypto market, emotions drive their choices more than intellect.

How have you dealt with FOMO?

Interesting thread.

It's very easy to get caught up in hype and FOMO.

In regards to dealing with it, I heard some good advice last year about altcoins which has saved me from alot of headache: If the coin has already done a huge exponential rise recently, you're already too late.
Summary: Never jump on after you see a big move. This would be based on emotion instead of strategy.  Train yourself to not follow these urges.

That's good to know in order to avoid losing money, thank you!

The crypto currency market is drawn by emotions, and the emotions of people are generated by news and rumors that spread very quickly in the social media.
News and rumors are often circulated by those who are interested in manipulating the crypto market in one direction or another.

A well-targeted and widespread media attack will create massive fear and panic as we have seen many times in the crypto space. And as a result people will panic sell their coins, not knowing they got manipulated. This way the death of any project or coin is very possible and many people will lose their investments. Just the way it has happened to investors on Bitconnect, unfortunately.

Manipulators use a lot of demagogy to spread FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt). The most commonly they do:

* submit negative statements without any real evidence.
* repeat these no-proof-statements (spamming and trolling).
* attempt to divert attention from the REAL causes why people have lost their money.
* create guilty and hatred campaigns.
* use insults and offensive tone against those with different opinions.

Just look at this thread and you can see them "working" here as well.

Guys, this was suppose to be a joke. I thought that it was obvious by the content, but I feel like I should clarify this because some people seem to be taking it a bit too seriously.

Well, it was meant to be a joke. But what happened was that nobody got the joke. However, you drew a lot of attention to your person. Was this your intention, since you talked so much about your personal qualities?
If you wanted to deal with a forum's drawback through the prism of humor, then, unfortunately, it did not work well. A good joke is always welcome, but the result was not so great this time  Roll Eyes

i don't think you need to sell your altcoin investment just to benefit from bitcoin rising price some altcoins actually has the potential to rise up in price this year so that means if you are holding altcoin worth holding just keep it and wait it will go up

So true. And as they say, it is not the best idea to hold all eggs in one basket! It is clever to have some good altcoins as well.

I mostly mine and hodl, but my friend day trades and says I should start getting into it. What do you prefer to do and do you think there is a better route to take? I personally think it's all up to personal preference, I'm new though.

I think it's the future money. So I hold it and trade it when there is a good opportunity to increase my holdings. Being early in crypto gives us the chance to have financial freedom.
