Re: Proof-of-stake can never scale without blowing up, because PoS isn't trustless

Also instant distributions (ICOs and coin drops) are antithetical to developing a critical mass and a successful coin (Ethereum avoided this by adding PoW mining distribution to follow their ICO).

Probably not. The amount of PoW distribution in Ethereum is quite small compared to the ICO. The "initial distribution" effects discussed at the above link are dominated by the ICO.

Vitalik reserved an obscene amount of coins out of the premine for himself. He dumped a quarter of his stash but still dominates the rich list. Whatever POW whales own is nothing compared to what he still owns. Moreover, I doubt any of the ICO buyers own as many coins as Vitalik still has. The "initial distribution" effects  are dominated by Vitalik's stash.

Lol sell your eth, the bottom on that premined ipo scam is gonna fall out and spill blood on the streets.

Im pretty sure I should buy when there is blood in the streets  Grin
Right, IF what you're buying is worth buying to begin with.  Sometimes things get slaughtered for a reason.  Would you have bought Enron stock back in 2001 just because it was cheap?

If you are going to buy then you should buy the dips and sell the pumps. However that strategy doesn't always work like during the dotcom bubble dump. Eth might be headed permanently downwards, so be prepared to sell fast if it gets close to your buy in price.

Quote
Like all trading strategies, buying the dips is not a sure thing, because some stock price drops are due to negative changes in the underlying company's fundamentals. For example, investors who followed this strategy around the bursting of the dotcom bubble may have lost a lot of money because many internet companies lacked a proper revenue-generating business model.

What was the average ICO price? In satoshi and dollar.

Around $0.20 - $0.21.  You can find the performances of some the ICO's here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1p7sJflgEXYp9VbgJVgsIXG08MLBw2iNPT-PO3GtEgEU/htmlview

This is the escrow address, which received 29634.01072062 BTC.

https://blockexplorer.com/address/3DWBSSAue32YS8PcW2gLs6m52BCCv3UgDA

There are 100 million coins, and the price is $0.245007 now.

At that price all the coins in existence are worth $24,500,700 in total.

A bitcoin's price is $685.58 now, and using that price the ICO was worth $20,316,485.06984266 in total.

The ICO buyers are up by about a quarter on their dollar investments at the prices now. For each dollar they put in they get about an extra twenty five cents.

Both bitcoin and waves prices are volatile today. This is the waves bittrex chart which shows at times the ICO buyers made way more than 25% profit, and at other times they were slightly above breaking even.

Has a new wallet with the forking code been released, and is there a page showing the total number of ETH miners using the new wallet?

If Polo & Kraken don't offer Lisk on launch, are you guys still gonna go for Yo Bit and Bloombit?

No we're going to bittrex and btc-e  Cheesy

Is bittrex adding it tonight?

We don't know, all we know for sure is yobit and c-cex are adding it tonight. IMO bittrex will add it tonight, there's money to be made from trading fees and bittrex won't want to let yobit cut into its profits.

The more i read about Rootstock smart-contracts, the more i realize that ETH days are numbered. Those guys at Rootstock labs will making a next generation improved version of smart-contracts that be realesed around the end of this year and will smash ETH into the ground.

Remember this; everything that will be build on top of Bitcoins Blockchain will crush all competitors.

https://bitconnect.co/bitcoin-news/172/bitcoin-getting-smarter-smart-contracts-than-ethereum/

http://www.rootstock.io/

What if before rootstock is released someone else releases something with smarter smart contracts than rootstock's smarter smart contracts than ethereum's smart contracts?

lol, what did you expect? they should have been closed a long time ago when they scammed people of their money. the only reason why the website was up was most probably because they have already paid for the hosting service and they were waiting for it to run out!

the website actually appeared to be active even after they where bankrupt

i wasnt logging in though and havnt since Jan 2014 when i withdrew my funds

find me a link to a post which says the website is closed, i know

its not that interesting but its the first time i noticed Smiley

On April the 11th the site was offline giving nothing but a 503 Service Unavailable. That was over a month ago and you didn't notice until now? That quote is from a 412 page thread about Cryptsy's scam and Cryptsy's site went offline 36 pages back.

If it's any use to you snapshots of the Cryptsy website were archived at a special website that can be used as evidence to prove what a particular site was showing at a point in time. The last Cryptsy homepage snapshot was taken on April 9th.

Because its fake....

But Polo will probably add Lisk real soon.

Those screenshots show Lisk is already trading on Poloniex, but its not even launched yet. It can't have a price on Poloniex if the blockchain hasn't even started running yet. Those screenshots are faked with photoshop.

Re: CCCB: Coinbase is close to Bankruptcy

Stop trying to spread your FUD around without any tangible proof. You said that based on the current report, Coinbase is close to bankruptcy. But what report are you talking about? A person above me has already asked you that question and you simply ignored that completely and come out and posted a random link to the insurance policy of Coinbase.

...

I Googled for reports that Coinbase is in trouble and found nothing apart from a few reddit threads. Unless the OP posts links to major Bitcoin news sites stating Coinbase is close to bankruptcy I won't believe it. As the OP already ignored some requests to post links I don't think there are any. The best he could manage is a link to a reddit thread.

Did you see that Andreas Antonopolous tweeted asking where lisk would be traded? Can someone post that?

There are about 15 posts in the last couple of pages answering this question

can't seem to find anything i checked his twitter nothing, do you have link?

you just got trolled.  Don't worry, I looked back a few pages also.

lol come on man not when we so close to launch, my heart beating fast ive got coins i need to sell then with those i buy back even more

Sorry.  Didn't mean it that way.  No "official" exchanges have been announced.  Obviously YOBIT will have to do something.  And CCex has made noise.  No officially announced exchanges FROM THE EXCHANGE.  Devs cant do that

The devs said a non-disclosure agreement prevents them from naming official exchanges that will trade Lisk at launch. I'm keen to know which exchanges will get the ball rolling, but we don't have long to wait now.

Is it possible to make a Lisk cold wallet?

I want to buy some Lisk and send them to a cold wallet made on a computer that's never been connected to the internet. I'm holding some long term and want to make sure they are safe.
yes, http://liskpaperwallet.com/ you can download page localy on to your pc and run it without internet connection.

Thanks, that's exactly what i wanted. I couldn't find an address on the page or the github for it to send tips to. It could be very popular and rferro has put a lot of work into it. I'm surprised there's no tips address.

Do you mean the bald headed chick on the right side, or the one wearing the hat? Considering the two on the right side both look like the ugly sisters, the one on the left who looks like his mum is the best of the three.

a countdown means many will run to their wallets to get lisk onto an exchange. This can strain the network. A countdown is nice but its not needed.. I mean come on.. its launching tomorrow. Do you really need to dump that bad? Just hold. Eth started low and rose overtime. If u dump when it starts... your loss.

The devs are from Europe, so it will either launch in the next few hours or in about 9 to 10 hours. The devs have to sleep and tomorrow morning for them is in 9 to 10 hours. It's not likely they would want to launch at 4 in the morning.

got an email today that the dedicated stellar forum stellartalk is going to shut down by the end of the year. says everything about this coin. RIP

I saw it on twitter they were indeed shutting down for good after amassing a lot of money.

^ Lol.  What?

He must be talking about the forum shutting down.

Stellartalks been shut down, but stellar.org is still up. There can't be a good replacement forum yet because there is no link to one at stellar.org

https://www.stellar.org/

It links to facebook, twitter, etc but it used to link to stellartalk. It's important for the community to have a forum to talk about stellar. Stellar.org should set one up themselves like ripple did.

Where did you find this? I've seen it somewhere but I don't remember.

I saw it on this blog over a year ago. It's a good info-graphic that explains the gold/fiat/bitcoin comparison is as few words as possible. Dug Campbell's blog is worth reading for his Bitcoin 101, though the part about the Bit License is slightly out of date. There have been new developments since he made posts about it.

Won't a photoshopped cover of Time showing Satoshi get the OP into trouble because of copyright violation, or trademark infringement? If he's selling something adapted from time's intellectual property he could find himself in deep water, and if he's accepting paypal he's not anonymous so time can easily get him prosecuted.
