How does block solving work?

I was reading some things on Stack Exchange and came across a question about how block solving works. I saw something about reversing the bits and putting it into a SHA algorithm. I don't exactly understand how the miner comes to the block hash from a few numbers. So what I'm asking is how is the block "hashed"?

I tried to get on the Bitcoin wiki a while ago and it said it can't contact the MySQL Server. I tried a couple of hours ago and it gave me the same error. I am wondering is it just my ip address it doesn't like or is it the whole site that's down?

I would like one bitcoin.. I am curious how it works.

1B7aUJLFA7jDq649XMYvXtmsgP7nmivkrN

I am planning to get 5 GH/s bitmining box from butterfly labs. So, I would appreciate if there's any instructions to set it up? I am planning to use easyminer 1.1.2 and join slush's miner.

LMK! Or PM ME!

1 whole Bitcoin is worth about $100. Another way you can get some bitcoins is you can buy some from an exchange like Mt. Gox. Too bad they're not $10 a piece like sometime back. Once you get mining you'll have lots of bitcoins depending on your computing power. I would go solo after you get a few bitcoins from mining in a pool. After you go solo, you get the big bucks. I have no real experience on mining so someone might have better advice.

The speed increased today for some reason. Now, the GPU averages 4 Mh\s. Total speed average: 6Mh\s. It got up to somewhere near 10Mh\s. If that's the problem then there's nothing I can do about it.

CGMiner "Stratum from pool 0 requested work reset"

I try to mine with CGMiner on P2Pool and every time the difficulty changes, it returns "Stratum from pool 0 requested work reset". I am using a valid Bitcoin address as a username like you are supposed to on http://p2pool.org:9332. I just can't figure it out. I run about 80 Kh/s with one slow GPU and CPU.

I think Ufasoft Coin does BTC,BTC-Testnet,LTC,Solidcoin and some others. But I think Ufasoft's client is a little crude. I think something that has LTC,BTC, and BTC-Testnet would be good.

I was going to run a bitcoin newbie lottery. Price of a ticket is BTC 0.0015. PM me for ticket, I will send you an address to send your money and a Ticket ID. In your PM also pick 6 numbers. Every week, I will pick 6 numbers and the winnings chart is below:

1 out of 6: Lose, money goes to jackpot
2 out of 6: Free ticket with random numbers
3 out of 6: 0.0005
4 out of 6: 0.001
5 out of 6: fraction of jackpot
6 out of 6: Jackpot

.0005 goes to the bitcoin economy (Help some poor faucets for the newbies out!)
.001 is worth about USD 0.01

To redeem ticket, PM me with sent Ticket ID.

Tickets expire after 5 weeks.

Current Jackpot: BTC 0.00

Remember: I can shut this down at any time. DON'T WORRY I will return tickets bought AFTER the last drawing.

Drawings will be Saturday between 11:00am EST and 5:00PM EST

I will announce the numbers when I draw them
