Re: [ANN] Tangerine (Ex-Mandarin) - Democratic Cryptocurrency Exchange

I had signed up a couple of days back seeing Tangerine was in the news and hoping that the project would finally take off. But inspite of depositing some ETH to the exchange wallet, its balance continues to show as 0 on the exchange even after 2 days. I cross checked on etherscan and saw ETH balance was showing correctly there. Repeated mails to [support@tangerine.is] asking for a resolution are also going unanswered. Think the project is dead or the team just doesn't care anymore  Sad

Hello! If you have any problems, Use https://www.tangerine.is/en/support

Thanks David! I've sent a support request there. 5 days back it was showing some sort of HTML error and was unable to submit anything there. But was able to submit now.
Your problem is resolved

We remind you, that the current address for exchange is tangerine.is
Also the redirect with mandarin.top is working.

Best regards,
Tangerine team.

Good. John641, which is in two or three words, your plan to make this exchange begin to have a decent volume like the one you expected in the ico, of 5 million per day, for the first year? when adding new tokens, votes, etc. Thank you.

New pairs are available! BTC/USD, BTC/RUR, LTC/USD, DASH/USD, TNG/USD, ETH/USD. New currencies and voting will be in March.

Just look at the silence in this topic... any regular updates or answers to questions. I just hope that this project will no disappear in the future, and that the token will be available to trade on the biggest exchanges.

Everyone is waiting for the launch of the exchange

The people that matter, the movers, the forerunners, the discoverers, the inventors, are always a small minority.
Often it took time until what they discovered or invented was used by many.

Re: Here's why Paypal loves bitcoin, put simply

No, not this at all and I'll explain why. You have the option to pay with a PayPal balance. This can't be charged back either. By your logic allowing people to send a PayPal balance is just as good as Bitcoin. If I'm a scammer I'm not going to use Bitcoin but I'm going to use a credit card. Therefore PayPal has gained absolutely nothing. Maybe one day they'll shoot themselves in the foot and decide against credit cards altogether and go exclusively Bitcoin. Until that day they have not received the benefit you are describing.

Re: First Bitcoin Experience?

Late last year I was having my morning coffee and browsing the Internet when I stumbled over an article about the guy who remembered he had mined some bitcoins ages ago and bought an apartment with the profits. I think that must have been the second or third time I had heard of it because I later found some text files with links to Bitcoin related websites for further research, including a spreadsheet with some quick figures for what my profit would be if BTC went to $150 (lol) but I couldn't remember much more than that so this was the first time I had really looked into it.

I had some money set aside for an interesting speculative asset, and Bitcoin was utterly fascinating the more I read into it. In fact I think I lost an entire weekend reading every article I could find and watching every video on YouTube about cold storage and hot wallets I could find. I had trouble sleeping. The implications were (are) just too big. I'm totally hooked.

I don't understand why people think shorter block times are better. It only means you need more blocks for the same security, thus meaning the block chain just gets needlessly bigger. Many Bitcoiners understand that, but many Altcoiners don't want to understand that, because that would mean their Altcoin has no advantage at all.

False.
Assume a bad miner controls 25% of the network.
Coin A has a 1 minute block time
Coin B has a 10 minute block time.
After 2 blocks, there is a 1 in 16 chance the bad miner can double spend
After 3 blocks, there's a 1 in 64
After 4 blocks, there's a 1 in 256 chance.
4 minutes with coin A for that chance, 40 minutes for coin B.

Standard nonsensical australian government, I don't expect it will change anytime soon. Aussies will just buy overseas, and bitcoin will not be used as a day to day currency - though it still has excellent potential as a store of value
