Re: Can cryptocurrency make real money disappear?

Not unless imposed by force by the state. There still are people that aren't dumb enough to go all virtual and risk the loss of everything if there is no internet connection.

Rather than drive yourself nuts with anxiety watching the price, do yourself a favor and learn more about Bitcoin. Don´t look at the price all day, that leads to nothing.

http://Coindesk.com is the current best source of news for Bitcoin and it's markets. There are dozens of others as well. http://BitcoinMagazine.com was the first, http://CoinTelegraph.com is the most 'outgoing,' and on any given day you'll easily see all of these and ten others being linked to on the "press" boards at forums.

My own experience went very well, and I was able to learn about some potential red flags when doing in-person Bitcoin transactions.

Re: Will Bitcoin Die Because of China?
by
johnarce
on 19/09/2017, 06:06:02 UTC
China has had a complicated relationship with cryptocurrencies, and bitcoin in particular, for some time. Bitcoin trading volumes in yuan leapt ahead of those in U.S. dollars. But i don't think the banning will last long. Two of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges are in China, OKCoin and Huobi. So it would obviously have a big effect but Bitcoin will NOT die because of China.

Re: Is it possible to find lost bitcoins?
by
johnarce

It’s extremely improbable, and effectively impossible to recover lost coins. This is what the security of Bitcoin is actually based on. If you’ve lost your private key, the system is so secure that you may not be able to recover it. But, if you were pretty sure that your passphrase contained words from a sentence from ‘The Return of the King’, but you’ve forgotten which page, then there's a solution. There are also tutorials for recovering your bitcoins in the aftermath of a technical difficulty, like if the hard drive you had them on broke down. But unfortunately for people who totally forgot their passwords, tutorials like this one require you to actually be able to locate the drive where the bitcoins are stored. Not to mention, success stories are rare and exuberantly celebrated.

Major advantages of using Bitcoin versus other currency system is that there's no third-party seizure, no taxes, no tracking, no transaction cost and it cannot be stolen.

I haven't bought anything expensive from my bitcoin. But i know there’s a website where you can buy a house, a car, a Rolex and many other expensive items for bitcoin. Ultimately, the most expensive thing you can buy for bitcoin is anything a person is willing to sell for bitcoin.

50-50. Don't buy a lot of bitcoins right now but don't sell it all as well. Just wait and see if it will go up by the end of the month.
