1.4 BTC for Quick Sale
by
jonanon
on 25/08/2014, 03:19:35 UTC
Had enough of Bitcoin now so am selling my last bit of BTC (1.4 BTC).

I would prefer to meet in person for the sale (Chiang Mai, Thailand) but would accept PayPal on the following conditions -> You Send, I withdraw, when withdraw completes on PayPal I send BTC.

Have some good trust if that's worth anything.

I want a quick sale so will sell for Bitstamp minus 5%.

Please pm me with offers (only offers pertaining to the above will be responded to).

Cheers

EDIT: Please read and re-read the text in bold.

EDIT 2: SOLD IN PERSON

Re: Retail adoption hurts bitcoin price it doesn't help it and here's why

Will the stores always sell the bitcoin they receive right away?

How do customers get bitcoin they use to give to the store?

Most of the big companies who accept BTC will immediately convert to fiat so there is no risk (or upside).

I would say most of the companies accepting BTC do so as a gimmick and have no intent to hold on to it.

Re: Do Brick and mortar merchants charge a premium to accept bitcoin?

Does the coffee shop/ restaurant/ bakery/ gift shop etc charge a premium to accept bitcoin when you walk in and buy from them using bitcoin compared to the local fiat price?

If so.. how much in your experience/area?

I'd say that they would do the exact opposite. As there are not many companies accepting BTC they can use it to draw customers to them and would gladly offer a discount to draw these extra people in.

I've brought this up in an argument before and can see exactly where you're coming from.

Perhaps more companies accepting BTC will create more awareness therefore more users of BTC.

Both points valid however.

Lots of fair points being raised.

Maybe we are still a way away from this ideal - hopefully not too far  Smiley

I still would like to be able to buy everyday essentials with BTC knowing it costs x BTC not x amount of dollars worth of BTC - but I suppose we need to get to shops actually selling food for BTC first Smiley

Cool - Will be things like this helping BTC get to the mainstream.

Could have chosen a better tune though!

I'd be interested in 2 BTC at those rates via PayPal.

Had some good similar transactions in the past.

I've seen loads of topics of people trying to sell things and saying I want x amount of dollars worth of BTC. Surely if someone is so keen on the idea of Bitcoin fiat shouldn't even be mentioned.

They should be prepared in certain instances to take a fiat loss for their beliefs.

1 some people do take small losses on purchases because of the principle

2 Those with the eventual objective of an all bitcoin economy have to initially deal with the reality that while getting to that point it takes time for all the things they need/want to purchase to be available in bitcoin only.

3 During that process a fiat/$ reference allows them to estimate relative value in the existing economy...eventually the reference can be purely bitcoin..but of course if fiat still exists it will always be compared

4 why not?....freedom of choice.. not everyone interested in bitcoin share that principle but many do.

Some good points there.

I was merely meaning that quicker adoption of bitcoin as a whole may ensue if some of the bigger users started to refer to things with a BTC value putting fiat second.

It's just like saying can you tell me of a site to earn free $?

You are not likely to obtain 'free' bitcoin in any sense.

Just buy them.

Re: can bitcoin overcome the actual currency? will the wolrd bank allow it?

I think the beauty of bitcoin is that the it is not up to single organisation to 'allow' it or not, they can't stop it from taking hold. It is down to the people to choose it as a superior tool for monetary purposes.

Would you ship to Thailand? If so how much would this be all in?

Before any companies can start thinking about paying it bitcoin the mentality would have to be the salary is x BTC per hour not x amount of dollars worth of BTC an hour - other wise there is no benefit.

Re: Bitcoin magazine sells for USD?!?!
by
jonanon
on 06/08/2014, 07:37:46 UTC
Why does Bitcoin Magazine sell its mags for USD as a default? I didn't even see a BTC option when trying to check out!

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/magazine/product-category/print/

Looks like a cool publication but not if it doesn't solely support the Bitcoin community. These mags shouldn't even be available with  fiat!

They should be available for sale in any currency that the publisher sees fit.

BTC, fiat etc. Offering the mag for sale in fiat surely opens it up to a lot more people?

Re: Bitcoin vs Precious Metals
by

If the expected collapse of the US dollar knocks out large portions of the Internet, Bitcoin may not be worth the paper it is printed on. In that case, having actual physical metal may be more useful. I have seen speculation that guns and food may be more valuable than shiny metal though.

Perhaps in the US guns may have more value but in the civilised world I don't see this being the case lol  Grin
