I think it has exciting tech and great plans, with an impressive (though anonymous) dev team. They could probably do with better communications, but they prefer to let the tech speak for itself, and they don't ask for anything.

That's a damn good question. Luckily, many of us haven't been swayed by the insane level of FUD promulgated about this promising project. We realise that it's still alpha-stage and that there are bugs (both technical and social), but we see that what has been done is impressive, and the next steps are very exciting. People just need to be a little patient!

This is all ludicrous (if you don't like Dero, don't buy it; let people make their own decisions and take responsibility for them; and stop repeating tired FUD tropes!), and I don't know why I'm feeding the trolls, but...


This misses the point. The point is that you don't need their source code in order to trust the system (decentralized or not). The thing you need is the protocol. Almost all of what you need to write your own node software is public (and with the recent leak, you could easily figure out the rest). CryptoNote guarantees that no unmined coins were created, or double-spent, and so if you can validate the blockchain, then you can be confident that none of this bizarre FUD holds water.

There is absolutely no evidence that Dero is a "scam". It would be a truly bizarre kind of scam if there were.

Do you need the source code of your bank before you can have expectations of how it works?  Much more important than the source is the protocol, and CryptoNote is widely documented.  The DAG structure and P2P interface will soon be public.  Then you can implement your own daemon that doesn't use the DERO canonical source code, and run it on the network.  It is decentralized, and every coin is verifiable back to the genesis block.  You don't need the source, or its history, to understand or participate in the network, if you have protocol documentation and an understanding of the crypto.

The early transactions there (before topo 260928) amount to ~2000238 DERO, 2m of which are the premine, the inputs from 2 to 7 are mining rewards, and 2c47.. at 72 seems to be the transfer of a mining reward from another wallet. With the 18 that you call "change", that amounts to around 2000238 DERO. At topo 260928, ~2000206 DERO are received. This means we need to account for 32 DERO. Capt has previously said that 26 DERO were spent for "exchange testings" [1], which means only 6 DERO (0.0003% of the balance at height 72) are presently unaccounted for. Because I only have that data and the encrypted blockchain to go on, I think such a tiny discrepancy should be permissible.

And it's important to note that, assuming that those 26 DERO were indeed spent from the premine wallet, *because that wallet also received mining rewards, none of the 'actual' premine seems to have been spent*. But DERO is fungible, so who cares either way? The whole point of fungibility is that coin units are indistinguishable.

Other things.. well, they're up to the developers, for better or worse. Have your disputes, but no need to do so this publicly. Many of the screenshots you have shared are not as damning they may seem now. If you disagree with your effective managers, resign calmly and honestly, saying that you didn't see eye to eye. Not like this.

It was a pretty dirty move making this move when the AMA was scheduled.

As for Dero itself, well, I still think it's a great, groundbreaking project, and I continue to wish the team good luck.

The concerns about the premine and emission raised by Serena are indeed concerning, but I have to trust that the development team have a good solution for them.

I would also like this drama to come to an end soon. I think putting the technical concerns (about past or Atlantis emission, or about the premine, which can be verified from a view wallet) into the same category as the communication concerns is conflating different things.

Clearly, the Dero team needs to be enlarged, so that Capt and his crew are not overwhelmed trying to combine marketing and development. I am not sure that McAfee is the best answer to the marketing question, but I will withhold judgment.

I'm pretty sure they do continue development (and the devs are very productive from what I've seen): GUI wallets, subaddresses and atomic swaps are all planned for this quarter (plus smart contract testing); and private smart contracts are due to be generally available next quarter. We should also soon see the DERO Foundation set up, the source code released to general availability, and the team beginning to attend conferences and market DERO more widely.

(If you find the sync to be too slow, you can speed it up by putting the file at http://seeds.dero.io/atlantis/atlantisDB/derod_database.db in the "mainnet" folder created by the daemon when you first run it. You'll need to complete the sync by running the daemon after doing so, nonetheless.)

Get a grip, GhostPlayer... If you want some DERO, buy some. Otherwise, why such aggression? The reasoning behind the team's decision is sound and has been discussed endlessly and repetitiously now: whatever algorithm you choose, an ASIC can be made. At least with a well-known ASIC algorithm, there is a large hash rate and thus a secure network (much harder to attack). Plus, the ASICs are commercially available from multiple sellers for those who really do want to mine.

DERO has some great technology, has produced some excellent results already, and has an exciting roadmap ahead.

Don't spread conspiracy theories. Moreover, it is good to be charitable, especially to those who have given you this exciting project and asked nothing in return.
