Bitcoin does not move as fast as the rest of life, hard to keep up properly with projects when other facets of life need to be attended to as well. You have given so much man, I hope the Tradehill guys see this post, I like a lot of the entities within Bitcoin they get, I'm sure they would be able to use some of the things you have done with Bitcoin.com.
I'll give +1 to that! It would be really cool if some larger entity like tradehill took over the website. It would leave me with the option of working on the project later.
I was wondering where you went! You did a great job and it is tough maintaining things. I'm glad to hear you'll stay in the community though!
Thanks! Part of the reason I have been distracted lately is because my research (at school) is going really, really well. I would be a fool not to give this research project all my effort.

Search Bitcoin

I am writing to the bitcoin community because I am no longer able to continually maintain the following bitcoin services:
I am still just as enthusiastic about bitcoin as I used to be. I simply do not have the time and money to keep these services going indefinitely. Right now I am a graduate student and I have decided to focus on my research.
Message me if you are interested in running these services for the community. It is my hope that the community may decide to take these projects over.
Otherwise, at the end of March (or mayber even later), I will have to shut these websites down.

I would endorse it on my website, and even work toward embedding it on Search Bitcoin.
However, I do not have time to work on the code for the shopping cart software at this time :-(

Review Bitcoin Stores At Search Bitcoin

We have redesigned the Search Bitcoin UI to make it easier for people to leave vendor reviews. Anyone can now write a review about a particular vendor they have had experience with, and people will be able to see those reviews before leaving our website.
All comments are handled through Disqus. This will allows vendors to subscribe to the thread about their website, and to monitor what people are saying.
We hope that the new changes make our website easier to use. Feel free to provide us with any feedback :-)
A request .. not for the API but for the site itself. When I click on an item in the left pane (the "Live Feed"), what happens is the content in the right pane (the "Review Store") is updated with the item I clicked on. However, that isn't intuitive and only realized that is what is happening after coming back to the site a few times. Can there be some UX improvement on that? If needed, maybe some animation or something to show how the click on the left results in a content update on the right?
Are you wanting your products in bitbrew to be listed in the live feed? The problem is that my web-crawler wants unique images for each item it finds, otherwise, it skips over the webpage :-(

Most sought after bitcoin merchandise :-)

I want to share a post I just wrote about the most popular bitcoin merchandise being sold in the community.
Here is the link to the post (I am too lazy to re-write the post in bb-format):
It's not that, I have the resourses and the stock.. it's the community who thinks that bitcoins are here to be mined and then cashed out for profit. 6 months ago when I started BitCard the idea was fresh and good.............
Everyone who has worked on a web-service has had their share of failures. I have had my share.... currentkey.com, bumperize.com .... I am keeping my fingers crossed with Search Bitcoin :-)
My point is that most web-services fail. Sorry about your run.

Yeah,
Don't over-commit unless you have lots of resources to back your effort. Sorry man.

Re: what do you want in a new website about bitcoin?

If you want to show people what they can spend their bitcoins on then consider using my website Search Bitcoin. We offer both a plugin/widget for websites and an API for accessing the database. PM if you want to know more about the API.
Search Bitcoin is a service for helping people discover what they can buy with their bitcoins. Our live feed is featured on numerous websites including www.weusecoins.com. Each day our service delivers between 100 to 500 referral clicks and an average of 500000 impressions.
Maintaining the service is expensive. That is why Search Bitcoin will be looking for sponsors. Soon we will be unveiling tools for running advertising campaigns through the service, and I want to know who if anyone would be interested in trying us out.
All advertisements will be visually distinct (enhanced) from non-advertisements. This will be done so that our users can tell which results are financially unbiased.
That said, I am seeking feedback from the community before I begin writing the code. I want to get this right. So if anyone has any suggestions now is the time to speak. I am also in the process of deciding the prices. I want to charge a price that is fair. Right now, I am looking at charging 0.01 BTC per referral click or 0.01 BTC per 1000 impressions. Let me know if these prices sound reasonable. And of course, prices are subject to change.
P.S. If the community opposes the idea of advertisements in Search Bitcoin, then I am open to other sources of funding, such as a starting a bounty.
