I've said it elsewhere:  Exchanges need to charge for putting an order on the book.
Otherwise you'll get all of the order book dirty tricks that are present on the Nasdaq etc.

15K BTC sold from ~$5.14 to ~$4.99.

By a strange coincidence, 15K BTC bought at exactly the same time!!  It's almost like there's a conservation principle!?

They're spamming the order book to raise the lag time.

Why O why is there not a fee for putting an order into the book?  Are they trying to replicate the stupidity of the NYSE trading bots?

the price will not fall unless users' interest in Bitcoin will continue to decrease.

or put more simply: "The price will not fall below $90 unless it does."

I'm looking to create more solutions...

Tell me what's your biggest problem getting started and/or using Bitcoin.

Not feeling like my coins are "safe"!  (from theft)

I also would like to see the canonical post on how to make sure coins are safe.

For example:  Armory and offline?  Like this dude: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1d26gw/cold_storage_how_i_did_it/

Re: Economics questions

Actually, this leads me to ask a second question: what is the general defense to economists' general argument against deflation as it relates to bitcoin.  How are people incentivized to spend, rather than hoard bitcoins?

It's pretty analogous to gold.  Gold & silver used to be valid currencies, then gold-backed and silver-backed currencies, and now plain fiat currencies are the method of daily exchange.

So in short, people are not incentivized, which is why economists on balance don't believe it is a currency that is worth a damn.

The usual quote that goes along with this is Gresham's Law:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gresham's_law

Anyone know why You get the following error when you enter 2 searches in quick succession?

Code:
An Error Has Occurred!
The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later.

It looks like the posting software thinks searching = posting.

Why support open source for ASIC when only a chosen few are allowed hardware?
by

Why exactly is the community supporting open source for ASICs, when only a chosen few are allowed hardware?

The point of open source software is that it can be run by anyone.  At this point, open source is providing incentive for ASIC mines to hoard their chips for internal use *cough butterfly cough*.
