I tried out --color. It turns the text from white to pale blue.  Roll Eyes

EWBF's output is FAR superior, I wish he would update the miner to match or beat dstm.

Market cap is important, not total supply.

An absence of supply increases value and overall market cap. Investing 101.

You want a small float (outstanding shares) and high market cap. They go hand in hand.

Coin like this already exist and it's called BitcoinZ , community-driver coin, without premine, without dev fee, equihash.

21 BILLION supply. Nobody wants that crap. BTCZ had a lot of potential, until they decided to do 21 billion instead of 21 million.

LOL, the block reward for BTCP is 0.78125. That's some serious mining profitability right there... Roll Eyes

At least the devs made off with $3,000,000 from the ZCL donation pool.

Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards!
by

Has someone managed to run more than 13 GPU (nvidia) on Linux ? I currently have an Asrock card with 13 GPU from Nvidia and was tempted to go for a 19 gpu mining rig but before doing this, I'd like to make sure it works. I wrote to Asus and the only thing they can provide is a recommendation but with their recommendation you never reach 19 GPU of the same brand so it defeats the purpose of going for this card in my case.

I bought this board without reading the documentation so now i have ~16 nvidia GPUs so i'll try to get it working on ubuntu and report back here

Won't work, the limit is BIOS/CPU related from the looks of it, basically anything over 13 regular cards will not post properly on this board.

I really wish people would read that actual documentation provided by ASUS when buying this board, or the documentation on the product website, before posting this incorrect nonsense.

This motherboard has gotten a bad reputation for absolutely no reason.

It is by the far the easiest motherboard to use. You have to make zero BIOS changes other than to select iGPU as the main display. It ships default in mining mode. All PCI-e slots are spaced to avoid the ASRock shorting problem. Multiple ATX ports to avoid linking with third party addons. Increased PCI-e power for riser stability.

I have 3 of them, and it will be the only board I use unless they release one that's even better with no need for mining specific cards.

Re: 8x 1070ti Mining Rig Power Help
by
jrrccmining
on 24/01/2018, 22:30:36 UTC
Hey everyone,

I have 24 Gigabyte 1070ti cards (single 8pin power) inbound right now and would like some advice for powering 8 cards per mining machine.

I have 2x EVGA 750w G3 PSUs and I’m looking for advice on how to wire everything up. Currently I’m thinking of one PSU powering the motherboard, cpu, ram, SSD, and 3 GPU + 3 PCIe risers. The second would power 5 GPU + 5 risers. Might be a dumb question but can I use the CPU lead to power GPUs from the second PSU?

Right now my plan was to split the 8pin GPU and 6pin GPU leads, so one 8pin from the PSU powers the card and riser. Unless I’m able to use some molex/sata leads for powering risers (I’ve read that SATA is not a good choice though). The risers I have have three power options; 6pin, 4pin molex, or SATA.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated so that I can safely power everything. Worst case is I move to 6gpu per a machine or upgrade power supplies.

Thanks!

2x EVGA 750w G3 does not have enough VGA ports to power 8 GPUs and risers unless you split them. You could do this, but I don't use 2 PSUs when 1 will suffice.

I would just throw all 8 GPUs on one 1600w T2 or P2. Those have 9 VGA ports. You can also mix/match PERF cables into the SATA ports on the PSU so you can run all of your risers directly from PSU Molex cables and all of your GPUs on a single 8-pin cable. EVGA sells extra cables specifically for each of their PSUs so you can have exactly what you need.

I am partial to the ASUS Strix series.

They are absolute tanks with the best cooling system I've experienced. They overclock extremely well and just hash away nonstop.

My absolute favorite card to mine with is the ASUS Strix GTX 1070Ti.

Great info., thanks!

I have been using dstm for quite a while and it is absolutely rock solid. No freezes, no reboots, and hash rates are excellent.

I am growing more and more interested in Bminer to see if I can squeak out a few more sol/s. I will do some testing myself to see.

Re: At today's prices it would take 10 months to pay back 1 1080ti before you made $
by
jrrccmining
on 24/01/2018, 18:01:36 UTC
look 3 months back, 5 USD with 1080ti was normal... than it boosts up to 15...

Who is making $15 per day mining with a gtx 1080ti? the thing is barely making $5 and a gtx 1080 is being sold for $1200, using the calculator + total cost will return your investment in 400 days.

This is a result of timing, and not anything else. People who derided and questioned mining and it's profitability for literally years are now finally figuring out that people have been been making a lot of money doing it. They are late to the party and are paying a premium for almost every single part you need to build a rig because of supply shortages.

I paid $139.99 for my ASUS B250 motherboards, $479.99 for my ASUS 1070Tis, $529.99 for my ASUS 1080s, and 749.99 for my ASUS 1080Tis, they ALL ROI'd in under 8 weeks because of timing.

When you are late to the party, it's impossible to immediately have the same amount of fun as the people who have been there for months/years.

All that being said, a 9/10-month ROI (1080Ti is currently about 285 days mining ZCL) on hardware for mining is still worth it IMO if you are serious about mining.

Which one is best for mining?

No doubts the 1080ti,

Seems its better to get a 1070 for mining than a 1080

1070Ti is also better than 1070.

A 1070Ti is actually better overall than a 1080.

Re: Kill-A-Watt beeping for 9 GPU Rig

Hi i need help urgently
I recently built my first rig, it include 7 RX580 8GB, 1 GTX 1080 , 1 GTX 1070 ti, motherboard asus b250
All gpu runs at temp 65-70, my kill-a-watt is beeping continously

https://i.imgur.com/XAFpPDs.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/KqCptni.jpg

It shows about 1800 Watts and 5.40 kWh
Is that normal ?
Any advice would help a lot!
Thanks

You're running over 1800 watts from one outlet, which means your are pulling over 1800 watts from one circuit.

If that's a 120V 15A circuit you are in dangerous territory. You should not run a continuous load greater than 80% of your total available wattage on any given circuit. I'm guessing you are using other electronics on this same circuit and are overloading your circuit. It's going to eventually start tripping. If you have an older house/apartment you have a fire risk of the breaker not tripping at a given heat.

Before you build your first rig, buy your first part, or think about pressing the power button you need to know your power limitations. This is why there are threads and pictures of people with burned out rigs, cables, and components.

You need to shut your rig off until you map your circuits to disperse your load correctly.

Windows will not run  9+ nVidia GPUs. It’s capped at 8.

You’ll have to use SMOS or some other links-based OS.

How do create a wallet address?

I downloaded the Windows wallet and when clicking "New Address" it doesn't generate one, it just brings up blank boxes for you to fill in yourself.

If I click on the receive button there is an address in the window that starts with "ST" but I have no idea if that's supposed to be "my" wallet or not. I also do not see an option to view the private keys, so I have no indication of who controls this address.

I'm not sure how to proceed.

Here's the mining guide, it explains everything pretty well: http://sigilplatform.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Sigil_Mining.pdf.

If you want to see your private keys, simply go to "Wallet", and then "Export Keys" in the upper left hand corner of the wallet. It'll create a text file with all the private/public keys.

Is there a way to create a new address similar to how the Swing Wallet operates? I always like to use a fresh address that did not come with the install in insure it's actually mine and that I have total control over it.

P.S. - Thanks for the quick response.

Keep up the good work dstm.  Eight 1070Ti rig running Ubuntu is rock solid.  400 Sol/s each card with no problem.  It's truly a fire and forget weapon.

You've got something wrong here.

I'm running 6x 1070Tis and each push 500-520 sol/s at 70% TDP.

There’s no way to avoid transfer fees, it’s 0.001 ZEN per transfer.

As far as switching pools, I’d only switch to the other pool if it finds more blocks and has a larger hash to make the lesser pool fee worth it.

If you follow the manual on what cards are required, the board works perfectly fine. You need mining specific cards.

Re: Mining Profitable these days?
by
jrrccmining
on 22/12/2017, 20:03:02 UTC
Nope

I would love to hear your (and other's) opinion about why mining is not profitable, and what you are doing that makes it not profitable.

Let's look at the portion of my farm mining ZEC--of which I have 14 GPUs.

It costs an average of $5.79 per day to run all of them for 24 hours. In the last month I mined 4.18 ZEC. ZEC is currently trading right around $500 on Bittrexx (which is much lower than it was trading yesterday actually).

This means I've spent about $175 in electricity and have $2,090 in ZEC as a result. All in all, depending on fluctuations in BTC (the underlying currency that everything trades against), these 14 GPUs average a daily profit of $50-$85--consistently hovering in the $70s.

Mining can be extremely profitable if you know what you're doing, manage your farm correctly, make sure the pool you're with is getting you what the calculators say your setup should earn, and are adjusting/monitoring everything on a daily basis.
