Links in sig, and also coinURL will earn you revenue from URL shortening if people click:
https://coinurl.com/index.php?ref=cec39c4c04339805a12118f0f93eb799

PS: yes, you get a bonus from referring people.

Hey, check the links in my sig if you're looking for some extra cash. I do some runs once in a while... it's not big money by a longshot but it's easy. Also if you're sharing links you can use coinurl.com which shortens them/adds a quick advertisement.

https://coinurl.com/index.php?ref=cec39c4c04339805a12118f0f93eb799

These are referral links too... but you earn enough without referring at all.

Also, don't trust any of the investment links that these sites give you Tongue

Cryptocurrencies are a very neat concept. I have a lot of cautious optimism about this stuff.

Don't get it. The mining goldrush is only swelling the difficulty and there isn't enough block rewards to pay off everyone's investments. If you *really* want to mine, for whatever reason, join a cloudhasher and let someone else deal with the risks of owning a possibly-worthless-in-the-future $3000 machine.

If you have a few grand, there are better things to invest in.

Re: How can I start earning Bitcoin ?
by

You can try the referral system, renting your sig. or even looking at ads for a few minutes a day, such as at BTCclicks:

http://btcclicks.com/?r=4b8ad081
-10-30 seconds per ad, but you have to keep the tab focused.
-good for some mindless clickery with your morning coffee. Only about 10min per day.

http://www.coinad.com/
-won't take my address. Maybe it needs an online wallet of some sort?

http://bitvisitor.com/?ref=1P9iBfgQw2V5KPRmPpvkrQCLcn7c3YBLjj
-5min per ad, but you don't have to keep the tab focused.
-good for keeping in the background while you surf. About an hour a day (including when you forget about it Tongue).

You won't earn much, but you won't spend much time either! It's no source of income but it's a good start, right? Stare at an ad for a few seconds, get some satoshis.
IMHO it's easier than faucet cycling, but I do both.

What I find troubling is that I don't seem to find anything resembling the transaction malleability issue on the 'official' list of weaknesses.

Am I just missing it?
eh, the transaction malleability issue doesn't really affect people who wait for confirmation in the blockchain. Here's the wiki link:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_Malleability

Once a few block confirms happen it's all gravy.

Hi. I agree with above. Mine scrypt! It's even better if you need to keep a room warm. Use the heat to your advantage.

Re: 22 Messages From Creationists To People Who Believe In Evolution
by
julestheminer
on 16/02/2014, 15:34:47 UTC
Creationism vs. Evolution should not be a discussion anymore. Agreeing to disagree is the only way the two sides are going to survive in harmony... there is literally no logical way that either side can make any headway with the other. If someone wants to believe something, they will. If the two opposing sides begin a debate, you can always see how each side simply tries to trick the other into agreement. No one learns anything, and nothing gets solved...so why do people still have this talk?

tl;dr: Creationism says: "Science doesn't know everything. I could be right.". Evolution says: "Science is trying to understand things. You could be wrong."
Everyone flames and no one wins.

Yes. http://www.nxtcrypto.org/
It seems to be a buzz around town because there is no mining. Owning a lot of NXT gives you a big chance of a block reward. Everyone has a chance.

Isn't that what was said about bitcoin, even years after it's release?
Bitcoin was a genius idea and so is the second generation NXT.
I do think it might be a good idea. I like the concept of it not consuming assloads of electricity, but is it as secure? How do we know if an individual didn't mess up forging a block? Does every client check every block for authenticity?
I am also having a bit of trouble grasping the intent of the POS forging mechanism. Wouldn't it encourage hoarding? Is hoarding bad?
I HAVE A LOT OF QUESTIONS

NXT is scam!!

We trust only in BTC

Of course there will be more surprises down the road. Bitcoin is anything but boring.

It was pretty boring for January and people complained about the price stagnating or not going up, now they complain for the opposite lol.

lol, what is with people and complaining these days? Everyone complains about everything...

Someone claimed in a previous thread that it could be a form of advertising... as far as the DDOS attempt it is miniscule. Maybe it's simply someone being a wad and playing around. The nature of anonymity, eh?

I've heard a lot about it, I've read a little, now I want to know what people think about NXT and it's PoS system. Is it a good idea? Is it going to be a flop? Why? I personally like the concept but I'm a little confused about it. Anyone up for a discussion?

PS: don't flame.

Re: Some random thoughts

I've thought about this too, but I don't think it's a big issue. Pools can always split and change size as new people enter and leave. We're already seeing this arms race as the BTC difficulty retargets have been around ~+20% the past few times. Eventually though, it'll reach an equilibruim where there's simply no profit in manufacturing new ASICs and new players can just amass existing hardware to compete. It's possible we'll watch another monopoly unfold once that happens, but it's much too early to tell.

Re: Where can I view bitcointalk account id?
by
julestheminer
on 15/02/2014, 18:04:09 UTC
Go to the taskbar at the top of the page under "News: Bitcoin 0.8.6 is now available.", and click profile. Then, under "profile info", click summary. If you look at the URL it will have something like: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=[account id];sa=summary , so whatever u equals is your account id.
