Yeah I got a bunch of the Gigabyte windforce fans. They are crap. Worse than the ones I had on my Gigabyte Radeon 7970 and those were also horrible.

There are 3 things you can do

1) Send it in for warranty. Doesn't make much sense right now because you will get it back when Ethereum goes POS

2) Take off the fan with shroud and zip-tie on a couple of case-fans. This method might require some rewiring however and it will make the GPUs take up more room. But case fans are very reliable.

3) Fix your current fan that's dead.

Basically you do this. Get some floss or some string. Once you got the blade off, just use mineral oil, 3-1 oil, motor oil, pretty much anything except WD40.

Here is a video

Keep in mind these fans are absolute crap, and on some I ended up ripping off the stator from the mount plate. No big deal, just need to put some super glue and snap it back in.

And it will work good as new. You might have to repeat this every 3 months - 1 year.

Not sure if these are going back in 😝

That's why I love the Sapphire dual ball bearing X-Fans. One screw to take off the fan for maintenance and cleaning and no wires to run or deal with. Replacements are $12.50 each including shipping from Sapphire and they are super easy to replace.

https://image.ibb.co/jKSOWw/Sapphire_X_Fans.jpg

Yeah I stayed away from Sapphire ever since the 6950/7950 days. I changed every single fan on over 30 6950 because every one failed in 2 years and some of the ones on my 7950s I changed more than 3 times. I guess Sapphire got sick of RMAs for fans and improved their fan quality and modular design.

I have yet to have a single Twin Frozr fan fail - they must protect from dust intrusion really well.

6 out of the 10 sapphires I’ve had have failed me. I will never buy a sapphire again. This is not even fan related. I RMA’d one but it came back to me unable to mine.

So some of my fans are now wobbly or fail to spin. What are the options here? replace fan or housing? Trim the edges that are catching? Mostly looking at gigabyte 480s and msi 480s. Is there an aftermarket place for this?
At what rpm did you use your video cards, how many percent....50..60% or what?
I let claymore control the fans, I never changed the bios on my 480rx’s. The environment they were in was pretty hot for a while for about 6 months but they are staying cool in the winter, for now. So I imagine they were close to 80% full time for a year.

I'm having problems running 13 cards on this board, can someone help? I have ubuntu 16.04 installed and when I run 13 cards I get " the system is running in low-graphics mode" and I cannot get into desktop. When I run just 6 cards it works fine. Should I try another OS? Or is there something else I need to do? I have molexs plugged into board. Running duel power 1300w and 1000w, rx570s.

Hey guy I have 4 rigs running on etherpool and today 3 of them one by one just stopped reporting their hashrate but all 4 still work, it's just that 3 out of 4 do not report.  Can someone please explain what seems to be the problem? Huh  Thanks!

And I did restart the miner on one of them but it didn't help.  Undecided

I noticed this as well, thought my miners were down but shares seem to be the same

Motherboard in questions is the Asrock btc pro 2.0. I cycled power yesterday and won't turn on. I've done the usual and replaced/removed all peripherals ( ram, psu, hd ) other then CPU. The weird thing is when I connect power ( without turning on bc it can't) the mouse led will blink every 10 seconds. Should I also replace CPU? am I missing something?

I'm having problems trying to duel mine Decred, do I need 5 different decred wallets if I have 5 miners using yiimp.ccminer.org:3252 ?
I have also tried supernova ./ethdcrminer64 -epool eth-eu.dwarfpool.com:8008 -ewal 0xe80ef5824827b3fa046a98b2b9d510dcf7bf4ff4/Rig4 -epsw x -dpool stratum+tcp://dcr.suprnova.cc:3252 -dwal xxx.rig4 -dpsw x
I have set up supernova workers. Only one worker will work I cannot get 2 workers running
Also can I mine alt eth coins with duel mining?

So I can confirm that "Andrew Penn" was at Ball State University yesterday and that he used a Mac to access my website. Good thing I don't get traffic to my website. If anyone wants read access to my google analytics account message me.

How can you confirm it was "Andrew Penn" (his pseudonym) ? Just send the info to the one who is charge here for the investigation, there seems to be a lot of evidence now pilling up for a nice case and I'm again publicly giving this guys till Monday (Else I'm filling up an FBI tip and I guess a lot of others will do the same) to clear their head and return those stolen BTCs, come here say sorry ask for forgivness, take a little word beating and let this case rest in peace and get on with your lives. Are you guys truly going to ignore all this and take a risk of going to jail for this?  This is not a petty crime, but grand theft (depending on the state, but usually anything over $1k is considered so) and if you are willing to spend up to a few years in jail for this, have a crime record (future employment), get kicked from university, be resented by your friends, look into your parents eyes with clear conscious? Well it is on you, you have been warned.

Here is how I can confirm "Andrew Penn" was on my website yesterday.
I messaged Andrew my tx address for the extra 15%. When doing so I informed him about a load issue on the IPO page after login ( sometimes it was blank after logging in) He said he had fixed it and I informed him that I was a developer and sent him a link to my website. We chatted then had a quick chat about code.
Google analytics shows 2 people on my website. One was me Smiley the other was from Ball state universities IP address. So unless he forwarded my link I sent him to someone  else from that location or was using a VPN located their, it was Andrew Peen, using chrome in a mac and whatever else google analytics captures

This IP can be really useful along with the other evidence associated with this project. please forward the info to the man in charge for the fbi/police tips. I too was involved and did the greek translation here. Im not expecting payment for this work but Im also never working again without upfront payment. I hope investors here get their money back and if the amounts on the website (for btc) are made up thats only a good thing and it shows that people may have lost way less on this debacle.

I just need to know who that is.

Re: Optiminer/Zcash v1.6.0 (GPU, Linux, AMD)
by

I have switched to Linux ( ubuntu 16.04.1) but have been experiencing my screen not being recognized between switching rigs ( plug in hdmi in one rig and plugging back into same gpu I started with on another rig ) also on startup I have seen my screen not be recognized.
Here's what I did:
install ubuntu
Reboot
Sudo apt update
Sudo apt dist-upgrade
Reboot
Sudo install new amd 16.50
Reboot
Run miner, see gains  Cool
Move to next rig repeat
Came back to the first rig and screen isn't recognized.
Missing anything?

I know i'm not answering exactly what you expect, but how does that matter ?
Can't you use ssh to admin your rigs ?
Or the issue isn't about administration but rather about the miner not working because the screen is not recognized ?
=> My setup is 100% headless, no fake hdmi or anything and it works like a charm.

Agreed - headless is the way to go. There's an issue with the way xorg works in the new versions of Ubuntu. I have found that installing 3 packages makes it work well.

This is what I do:
install xorg xserver-xorg-legacy xserver-xorg-video-dummy

Edit the config file for xorg-legacy:
/etc/X11/Xwrapper.config

delete the last line:
allowed_users=console

insert at end of file:
allowed_users=anybody
needs_root_rights=yes

then set up the xserver-xorg-video-dummy

There's a bit more to getting the headless fully working in a screen, but this gives you a start. I don't want to keep flogging my build guide, you can probably find a link in a previous post if you want. It took me a while to figure it out, but once you get full headless going it's wonderful.

I tend to get slightly less performance out of the GPU that my monitor is hooked to, although it is a XFX R9 380x vs the rest of the cards in the system are just ASUS R9 380 Strix.  If I were to switch it to headless would I gain a little extra performance off of that GPU?    I'm not positive the less performance is due to the monitor being hooked to it or if the 380x has less performance but I would think if anything it should be more than the 380.

I agree headless would be the best option, and I will get there. Along with getting miner to start on startup... Miner ran for 4 hours and crashed on 2 rigs overnight  Sad  But performance for my 480s is at 300 s/S. So it looks like Linux is the best option for now, and figure in stability.

I'm also making sure I haven't missed anything, like increasing my page file to at least 16 gb like I would do on Windows.   Undecided or use redhat?
