I'm a late adopter. I just got in BTC about the same time of the cyprus crisis when the BTC went parabolic up to the roof.

I jump in maybe mid April. I bought 2 7970.

Today, just a few months from when I started mining, I have a handful of 10 ports hubs filleds with BEs.

This is just unbelievable how fast things change.

Beside my GF that do not like to see electronics coming in the basement, I'm having a blast with BTC mining even if I'm not sure that I'll fully repay all the equipement with what I'm doing while mining.

There might be an option for you and yes allot of people are GPU/CPU mining out there but not necessarily for  bitcoin. You could try mining for "scrypt" based coins and there are allot to choose from. Some people have even set up pools that mine the most profitable coin at the moment so it is possible.

I've been using bitcoin for trade here in Brazil since 2012!

In the beginning BTC was considered a black market taboo exchange used for drugs and contraband trade to an acceptable alternative for payment albeit that the majority of Brazilians still know little about crypto currencies in general.

With the national currency crashing allot of people are starting to see potential in bitcoins and their usefulness in securing assets and facilitating trade. One of the things that holds this back in Brazil is our twisted economic regulations that even prohibit non business entities (private citizens) from buying goods for the intent of reselling (national or international products)

I trade in gemstones and have to deal with this allot. If I export Im required to provide a invoice (stamped in triplicate) stating the product in MERCOSUL harmonization and international harmonization code, stating the value in foreign currency and its equivalent in national currency. The method of received payment approved by the fiscal authorities. This can be travelers check, international credit card (I've had problems with paypal etc..) or if I request permission from the state before the completion of the sale, I can receive an international bank transfer..

So selling goods abroad in bitcoin presents problems. One way I have been able to do this is trading goods for digital services for the amount charged in bitcoin... Like I said its twisted and a big reason we are in the crisis we are now.

I would love to hear experiences from other vendors that are in the same situation as me.

Best wishes,

Dave

Cheap power + low entry cost are the main factors.. I've never seen a good deal on Ebay or Amazon but you never know..

Best of luck!

The idea that you put your money on an exchange is a contract of trust, Mt Gox betrayed that trust by intentional deception. Other exchanges that had problems (hacked, regulated out of business etc.) "most" were open and honest when it happened. Coinedup was a good example of how not to screw over your customers.

Closing an exchange then keeping your customers money or holding it ransom or any variation of that without a really good and verifiable justification is theft.
The amount does not matter its the principal that does..

The reason they gave some customers for not returning funds was that it was allot of work (?)
They then close the site and demand payment to get your funds back?

Thanks, guys! Everything ran smoothly

hmmm, I think that if you really want to do business you need someone with a bit more then 8 posts to vouch for your site.
This sets off so many red flags and guys, we have all seen it before.

I'll tell you what, you provide me with a funded account, I will cash out to my paypal, repeat this a few times. I will refund the amount funded to me less transfer expenses and post on how the service runs.

You only loose the transfer charges but gain a review from a "Trusted" member.

Sound fair?

Hi Kelticfox,

I've seen a few, what size are you looking for?
Also, do you want natural (pinker) or heat treated (dark red) ?

Id be happy to source one for you, just let me know.

Yes Ghris they are,

Don't forget the blue pieces are also quite sought after as well.

These stones are strait from the mine by very small scale hard rock miners.
Ive made good money piecing out these packages in the past and thought it would be a nice gesture to pass it on to members here. Id be willing to split fairly a 200 gr pack for someone getting started too.

Ive had some requests for aquamarine and sapphires, Im not having much luck finding good deals this week. The aquamarine I have found is large, clean, nice color and well priced for what it is but over $1000 US a stone. Im waiting on new finds to come in and should know more this week.

This goes for cut opal as well, Im thinking about buying one of the stones I posted earlier (pink pin fire)
and having it cut so just let me know if that suits you.

Once again thanks for the inquires.

Can you post what you have in Aquamarine?

You can PM of course if preferred. Thanks.

Hi Kimosan,
I sold off a big lot a few weeks ago so I am looking myself, I only have 1 piece left in hand and need more.
There are a few interesting offers this week and I will post first thing tomorrow..

Any cut ruby stones?

Hi Monobux
Im waiting on a new shipment of some nice untreated rubies, They are in transit and I expect them in within the next 10 days (national post is really slow here).  As soon as I have them I will post a pic here.
Should be about 20-30ct oval faceted, dark pink (not heat treated).
If you want something more specific (cut/size/color) just let me know as there are allot on the market now.

any diamonds???

vs/vvs

e-g

round brilliant

no florescence

1.5-2 ct

gotta be GIA though...

let me know.

Hi Bob,
Wow!
Diamonds of this grade are here. 1.5 to 2 ct are not easy to find but I have a few sources that could do this for me.
The only way I would do it for this grade though is with certification.  I have a very good one. They are GIA postgraduates  also members of the AGA and NAJA.
They do provide certificates and have the best lab in the country.
As a side note, our national gemstone regulatory agency now provides CIBJO - (Confédération International de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfèvrierie des Diamantes, Perles et Pierres) certificates for allot less so something to think about.

If you could, drop me a PM  with what sort of volume and target price you are looking for.  I will contact the lab for an estimate on the certification before we start.

what's the size?Huh?    i  want use it to make bracelets.

Hi Dulinxu,
Can you cut stones or have someone who can cut for you (lapidary)?
I ask this because you will get the best price this way and tourmaline is very easy to work unlike emerald which breaks very easily.

If not I can get cut stones for you but sellers ask a much higher price.

For the 200gr lot of tourmaline, sizes of uncut stones are varied. I have bought from them before and was always a good deal. Some stones were over 10ct some as small as 0.1 ct but was always a good mix of size, color and shape. See the pencil at the bottom of the picture to have an idea of sizes.

If you are looking for more even size pieces I also can get this offer from another seller.

108 pieces in total, 2ct to 3ct per piece. I can sell for $125 usd not including shipping.

Leaving a comment for future reference. Nice stones!

Thanks Ghris!
Brazil really is the paradise of gemstones.

I just figured out how to upload images on this forum Smiley ...

Hi Xuan!
Yes I can ship anywhere, we generally use EMS, its the most practical but there are other options if you require. just let me know and I'll make it happen Smiley.

I thank everyone for all the interest and am very happy there are so many gemstone fans here.
