Any airdrop that doesn't go to all BTC holders would needs something from you.
Bitcoin Rhodium and Mimble Wimble Coin are a couple that I know of.

Are airdrops safe?

The way they usually work is they give you some string and you sign it to prove you own the address.

Could a malicious air drop make a transaction sending all your BTC to them, and then you sign it, and then they broadcast it to the network?
Or is signing a message different than signing a transaction?

Would these cgminer commands work on an S9 running Braiins OS?
How would I set them? edit a file with terminal?

--sched-start       Set a time of day in HH:MM to start mining (a once off without a stop time)
--sched-stop        Set a time of day in HH:MM to stop mining (will quit without a start time)

Would u offer shipment to europe without warranty and with low value marked on the shipping to ease the pain of import taxes?

Wil the cards run on win 10 or only linux for now?

Also some pictures of modded and unmodded cards would be good on the website ;-)

Thx

I don't think they will be doing any funny business with customs.

Senseless expressed a deep hatred for mining on Windows a few days ago,
so probably Linux lol

Regarding warranty, we haven't mentioned it and (quite surprisingly) no one has asked about it. The warranty period will be 90 days from the date of delivery.

I think 90 days are not enough to obey EU laws for planned EU:EU sales process.
Indeed Europe has a minimum of 2 years

I know there are issues in the United States with 90 day warranties too, one of the main reason you couldnt order Mining Cards from distributors and major brands/stores.

The warranty applies to all cards shipped.

For USA, https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/2304

A 90 day warranty for anything that will be beat to death as mining hardware is more than reasonable.

You couldnt really say "beat to death as mining hardware" when your creating it for that purpose. If its obeying the purpose, a 90-day warranty wouldnt be within the reasonable standard. There are many factors when coming up with a warranty, and for this product being $3000+ and being used for its intended use to break within 1 year, would most likely end in a lawsuit with your company if someone wanted to. There is an implied warranty, and you will be held accountable for implied warranties if the product cannot do what its built to do for atleast 1+ years. This is why you see long warranties in the computer sector.

Bitmain and Nvidia don't offer 1+ year warranties on mining hardware.

Do these FPGA's use the 3.3V and 5V rails?
I would be a little worried about the quality of the regulators for those voltages on a pcie powered riser.

Is the DDR4 required to mine CryptoNight7, or does it just improve the hashrate?

Update: The first batch of the board will be a total of 1500 units at a cost of $3995 per unit...

So you're only making money selling the hardware,
and releasing free closed source mining 'code' without a devfee?
And we can also use devfee based options from other users like whitefire990?

split up 24 word recovery phase
by
justinjja
on 06/01/2018, 18:10:15 UTC
Say I split up my recovery phrase into 3 equal pieces:

traffic wire festival twelve abstract hurdle build water loyal fossil live print bench pet use coil size kingdom matter govern blind fresh mechanic barely
(This was just generated as an example, it is empty)

Set A) traffic wire festival twelve abstract hurdle build water
Set B) loyal fossil live print bench pet use coil
Set C) size kingdom matter govern blind fresh mechanic barely

Then I stored
Sets A and B in gmail ;;  traffic wire festival twelve abstract hurdle build water loyal fossil live print bench pet use coil ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
Sets B and C in a safe  ;;  ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? loyal fossil live print bench pet use coil size kingdom matter govern blind fresh mechanic barely
Sets A and C in a safety deposit box ;;  traffic wire festival twelve abstract hurdle build water ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? size kingdom matter govern blind fresh mechanic barely

How hard would it be for someone to guess the remaining 8 words if they got a hold of 2 sets?
I think I saw read that there are 2048 words?
so 2048^8= 3 X 10^26?
How long would it take to brute force that on a single GTX 1080 TI for example?

If it isn't feasible to crack then I like this because:
You could lose access to any single of the 3 locations and still have all 24 words
Someone could steal any single of the 3 locations, and still not have all 24 words

Let me know if this is stupid for some reason.

Thanks,
Justin

Anyone have a property insurance policy for their home mining operation?

I have over $10,000 worth of mining equipment, with more on the way.

Trying to keep my costs down, every insurance company I have talk to say I need to get general liability insurance with property insurance, and that gets expensive.

Just trying to protect my self from theft/fire.

Windows 10 updates
by
justinjja
on 18/10/2017, 02:14:29 UTC
So I have several Windows 10 computers that I uses exclusively for mining.
I don't want windows updates at all.

I disabled the windows update service, and that worked for about a year,
but lately I have been noticing that the windows update service has been re-enabling it self???

Any way to stop windows updates?

I could probably just block all Microsoft domains in my firewall,
but I'm hoping to find an easier way.

So if I'm not getting hardware errors I'm fine?
Been running 8 hrs at 85c and 0 hw.
(but it's coolerat night)

Also this is a bitmain device not inosilicon, max temps could be completely different.

Antminer D3 max temp
by
justinjja
on 25/09/2017, 04:11:28 UTC
I have been running L3+'s outside and they stay under 80.
I just moved a D3 outside and it is running in the low 90's is this too hot?

I can't find anything about the max temp on them.
I see people talking about running S9's at 100,
but then the L3+ has a check box to shut down at 80,
so I'm not sure where a D3 should be.

Thanks,
Justin

I lost a hash board a couple times on one of my L3+'s and 2 of my D3s
In my case I just reboot and it comes back.

I'm also using a powerline network adapter.

Does everyone have issues with the blockchain dirvers where the miner sometimes gets stuck in 2D mode until claymore is restarted?
Lately, the eth mining speed with drop from 29.5 to about 7mh/s, sometimes it is all cards, but sometimes it is only one or 2 cards.

When I try to set voltages with -cvddc I get constant errors:
Failed to set new effective core clock for GPU #0-5 (17.7.2)

Running W10
August23 blockchain drivers + Pixel Patcher
Claymore 10
Reference RX480's

Is there another step needed to get voltage control working?

Looks like a new official driver is out, anyone try it?

EDIT:
Confirmed, the new driver does not include the dag fix.

Real RX Vega reviews are showing up, After overclocking, they get about 40mh/s with reviewer drivers.

Also quite high power usage.

I been having a problem in Ubuntu, where when i start the program it works and mines but to the default wallet and pools. every time i go into the file it edit so i mine in my pool and to my wallet, it says the same.
Does anyone know how to configure the file in ubuntu, ive tried everything

I'm not using Ubuntu, but there are 3 places where your mining info can be set, your bat (.sh?), your config file, and your epools/dpools files.
Make sure you check all 3.
Also make sure your lines are not commented out (Start with a #)
