I know you guys are very busy trying to keep the game up and running. However, I hope you will have time to help windows users build this from scratch. I would think here of all places, people would understand how important it is for at least a few people to be building this from the source.

you can use the easy windows builder in contrib folder (by Phelix) -- or at least examine the batch file

That is what I did, there must be a path error somewhere building the daemon, but I cannot find it.

Was anyone able to build this from source on Windows?

I am getting the error below, even though openssl was downloaded and unpacked correctly. The header files are where they should be. I've looked at the paths in the build files and don't see any error.

Please let me know if you've already found the probem with this.

Looks like they are getting DDOS'd. Hopefully that tactic won't do much damage to new traders.

Speaking of $233, I'm very disappointed I had to scroll all the way down here for a thread started by smoothie. Where is the "So who sold at $233?" thread?!

The biggest problem I've always had is that the solution Ayn Rand proposed was an impossible fantasy. And while the hardcore fans will talk about how it's all symbolic, many of the problems and government actions taken in the book have indeed happened in real life.

Bitcoin is a real way to "opt-out" and undermine the power and control of oppressive government. It's a lot more convenient than flying to a hidden valley in the mountains that uses alien force fields and Telsa power generators, too.

It's a shame she didn't see live to see it.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that they will not use mtgox to liquidate these coins.  Wink
Would be hilarious if they did and Mtgox froze them indefinitely. "Sorry, we need to see your power bill."

Re: Can you withdraw US cash from MTGox now?
by

It seems like maybe someone can, because as I started typing this, Gox and Stamp USD last prices were $0.05 apart and have been coming within $1 of each other the last 1.5 hours at least.
I think you are mistaken.  Bitstamp 's price is being incorrectly reported on a few ticker sites, but if you go to their page you will see there is still a large gap with mtgox.

This is a lot bigger than just "another Bitcoin ATM!"

These guys are launching a mobile payment network and have already done a lot of the footwork to be compliant with money transmission regulations - and partnering with them is a way for others to be compliant as well.

Someone just sold ~2800 at once, severely knocking down Bitstamp's buy-side. That's a huge move for Bitstamp. No obvious movement on other exchanges. Any news?

Re: BTC100 CNY exchange reports 80,000btc 24hr volume

I check it about 5 times a day minimum.  Wink

Chinese volume is 72% of the market if you believe BTC100 did 20k of vol in the last 24 hours. But even if you exclude them, it's still over 55%.

This still represents only a tiny fraction of the adoption level per capita in the US. When it really arrives they will have over 99% of the volume.

I'm on the resistance side as well Vod, almost a year now. I'm surprised at the distribution of agents, actually - I assumed everyone would want to join the "rebels." Who wants to play on the side of the essentially brainwashed status quo?

Trading platform can easily create a fictive volume with a trading bot, buy and sell a coin 80k times a day without charging any fee or spread Wink

Yes, but it would be very harmful to them. Traders using their site would be able to see that something was going on very quickly. Also the fact that their volume literally went up 50000% in a day makes it unlikely that this was some kind of "clever ruse."

What seems most likely to me is that a combination of lowered trading fees and an incentive program they just launched allowed someone to trade for free or make a rebate on otherwise unprofitable trades, and they decided to exploit this until it was noticed.

We won't know until the site op posts an update.

Google translate shows some garbled details about a rebate promotion. Someone may be exploiting a related bug. Hope the site op checks it out soon.

What is the normal volume of this exchange? I'm guessing it's something less than 1000BTC. So how could something that does a tiny volume suddenly do 80,000BTC volume? I would think it to be technically impossible. There simply wouldn't be the liquidity, deposit/withdraw processing, exchange engine, order book depth, etc to do it. I mean I could see it maybe GROWING to that amount over a month or so, but not overnight.

Yesterday they were at 10k, but for the last few weeks, the average was about 2-3, sometimes 4k.

And I agree, it's extremely strange and the explanation probably isn't "normal growth." That's why I posted it.

I agree that it's extremely unlikely that it's legitimate volume. I would be surprised if that was the reason, though. Their volume is normally much higher than 80BTC. they were doing 2-3k pretty regularly.

Well, I dont know what everything says, but it is "24 Hour Volume"
From left to right:
: Highest Bid
: Lowest Ask
: Daily High
: Daily Low
: 24 hour volume

Just in the time i've watched it the price has gone from 750 to 757... okay, thats not much Tongue

mBTC seems like a good idea as to what it might be.

Why would they suddenly switch from reporting BTC to mBTC?
