Public Challenge

I am the current World Record holder for longest soda purchase using Instantx.  My record is 1,988 miles.  Of course, records are made to be broken.  The rules are simple.  Go ahead and break it!
This should be interesting :p

New Preview: (and yes, the cans are very small, looking like cigarette butts from distance...)

i will render a picture with bigger cans, we will see...

I think the cans need to go. It gets the point across with out them and this really is a cool idea.

I do think future budgeting shouldn't include marketing though. This is a slippery slope. Maybe when the Market cap is X size we no longer use funds for this type of activity. On the flip side, if we try to make marketing donations based, it will probably fail. I know from first hand experience with bitcoin and a failed billboard project.

Just some random thoughts :p

This isn't just a marketing piece.  We are designing the software for point of sale.  It will enable any new device to easily adapt the github packages.  Moocowmoo has done an awesome job with coding all of this.  Point of sale is what sets Dash apart form the Bitclones....This is what we need!

Key features added so far:

  • Ability to refund over/under payments automatically(no return address needed)
  • Detect InstantX payments
  • Ability to accept InstantX payments and reject standard payments.
  • BIP chain address control
  • Changing address and QR code for each transaction.
  • Activate relay or output for vending type device/gas pump/etc.

We added another video to www.dashndrink.com showing relays and the new screen.  Good stuff.

Again, i'm not talking today or tomorrow, but down the road, this these types of projects should be driven by 3rd parties to allow competition and healthily growth. Today it doesn't matter as Dash is rather small in the grand scope of things.

That's a different point of view.  For me, marketing is #2 behind core development in importance, and that's only now.  In the future, it could very well become #1, with development slowing down and eventually becoming maintenance.  In fact, I hate to see any funds go unused in the available budget, but we do lose many coins each month due to no proposals.  Of course, someone has to have a great idea to propose, and we've had many, so I'm not really complaining, other than I wish those lost coins could be tapped in the future, but alas...

A company has basic expenses, and marketing is one of the biggest so I can't see why it shouldn't be part of the budget system.  Development (or product building or the physical work required to ship and sell products), Marketing, Financial management, HR and Legal.  Am I missing something?  But that's basically the things a company must pay for, no matter their trade.  Thus it should all be on the table for budget distribution Smiley

Don't disagree at all but eventually this type of funding from coin generation based on proposals keeps things centralized and starts to limit competition. For instance if we are proposing  this POS project that is funded from "free" money, why would another entity spend their own time and funds to develop something similar at an already financial disadvantage. I think this is all great now and is perfect for moving forward but at some point proposes should only be for core based activities. I propose that happens when Dash reaches some marketcap milestone.

Hopefully development never slows down as Dash is innovative and we don't want that to stop.

agreed. Investing a bit as the dev appears to want to create something different. We'll see though.

Anyone else staking changing to false with out moving coins? Any explanation for this?

k0vic this is my post from earlier today:

I installed the new wallet the Dev tweeted at around 1230 utc. This immediately resolved the problems the previous QT wallet had been having. It started staking within a few minutes and I then received 2 payments just minutes apart. The 'your weight' had come off the boil a bit as a result of the payments (I guess) but it was still staking happily. Went to bed about an hour later and at around 2030 utc this morning I checked to see if any further stake payments had been received overnight. Nothing further had come in and unfortunately the wallet had gone back to "Not staking as none of your coins are mature"!

Played around with it for a bit but it didn't look like it was ever going to be rectified, even after restarting the wallet. Eventually decided to reboot my machine (Win 8.1) and start the wallet up again. That seemed to do the trick and, although it initially had the 'coins not mature' message, after a few minutes it started staking again and within an hour I'd received another payment.

Has anyone else had this happen where the wallet's stopped staking? Does anyone know why that would happen and how to mitigate it?

So some hours later I came back to my laptop to see I had received another stake, this time for 30 Tron as we'd gone over block 4000, but again my wallet had gone into "Not staking as none of your coins are mature" mode. I don't know if this involves the staking going to "false" as I didn't know to even check for this prior to reading your post. I left it for a while to see if it would come good. After approx an hour since the stake had been received it was still in the same "Not staking as none of your coins are mature" mode. I left if for another half hour and was about to reboot it again thinking there's something wrong when it suddenly started staking again with 'weight' all the way back to 1 (and that was over well over 6 hours ago and my 'weight' is now 538 so expecting another stake any moment).

I guess the arrival of the staked coins sends it into "Not staking as none of your coins are mature" mode for a short while. Next time it does this I'll check to see if the staking status has change to 'false'.

Thanks fellow dasher Wink I just checked again and it is back to true.... I did nothing... weird but thanks for the help.

I got paid 3 hours apart. Taking now says false with expected time -1

I would think staking would say true with your expected time to be a numer going down.

This staking system is F'd. I got paid twice three hours apart, I wake up and it says I am no longer staking. Haven't touched my coins.

"Enabled" : true,
"Staking" : false,
"Errors" : "",
"Current Block Size" : 1000,
"Current Block Tx" : 0,
"Pooled Tx" : 0,
"Difficulty" : 0.00061722,
"Search Interval" : 1,
"Weight" : 0,
"Net Stake Weight" : 27779,
"Expected Time" : -1

I also have a small problem with staking; wallet is locked after you create an address so stacking is stopped and you have to unlock it again; would be nice to not have that never go off if unlocked.

have fun dev

It's deff odd that I receive payments why i'm sleeping wake up and now staking is set to false? Coins havn't moved....

i'm confused by the POS. We just hold coins in our wallet and are paid for holding them? Is this every block? Is payout based on how many coins a person is holding?

This thread is the most popular alt thread on bitcointalk, we should expect trolls advertising for their coins on here. It's like a commercials during the most popular show on television. lol

On top of that we see all of these other coins coming out that by all rights are using dash ideas, the same methodology, or a just a complete clone. This is pretty impressive since a coin really hasn't been copied like this since bitcoin and litecoin. This alone gives me complete faith in dash.

Pretty powerful stuff.

You're welcome. Next tip: sweep those coins to a new address. That way no one who has seen that private key before (or does in the future) can take them from you.

Yeah then dump them and buy 29k worth of dash. Smiley
