Maybe it's time to promote more Bitcoin Knots and other node software that is not Core? Seems to me like having multiple implementations that are not forks of another another will provide a resilience against bugs.

Re: [ANN][ICO] NOVA TOKEN - $1.4 Billion Digital Card Game Market - CrowdSales NOW!!

Are you not worried that the fees needed to play the game will be outside of your control?

If the blocks get to full then somebody will have to pay for the higher gas limit. We saw it with the cryptokitty rage. Basic game actions would cost 1 - 3 dollars.

Of course this won't always be a problem ... but will we have blockchain based games that on some days are not playable because it's to expensive?

Do you guys have a solution for this?

Years ago I used my two GTX 295 to generate as much possible bitcoin addresses with Niak in it, as that is my nickname.
Then I forgot about it and it ran for about 3 weeks straight until it crashed. When I went through the list I found one that had almost my complete last name (Verheijen) in it (am from Belgium), just differently spelled.

1Niak6WPi1NDYquYGBc6TYVerheyEGeXM7

I am thinking about legally changing my name to Niak Verheyen

How cool would that be? Also how freaky is this? Okay I am lying my last name is not Verheijen, but it COULD be.

And here is the proof!

-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My name is kain134 and 1Niak6WPi1NDYquYGBc6TYVerheyEGeXM7 belongs to me. It can be found on my blog kain.tweakblogs.net and my soundcloud www.soundcloud.com/matthijsbos. Today is the 25th of december 2017 and I am signing this message to proof to Rare address hall of fame at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=90982.0 that I am the owner of 1Niak6WPi1NDYquYGBc6TYVerheyEGeXM7. My address is rare because it contains VerheyE at the end. Verheyen is a dutch surname --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verheyen
Maybe one day I will change my legal name to Niak Verheyen, you know for bragging rights ....

The latest block is 501044 with hash

-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Let me know if I did something wrong. Let it be known that kain134 has a bitcoin vanity address that contains 7 letters of an 8 letter dutch surname ... at the end of the address!  And I am dutch too, how about that!

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 (64 bits) and I downloaded and compiled the latest version to try with testnet (1.0.5.6)

If I want to run this on linux do I have to compile myself?
Hi there,
I assume you are talking about the wallet and miner?

In all honesty, the easiest way to install on Ubuntu is through the bash script here
https://gist.github.com/anonymous/d1c1d35e3c8f67f5fb2e204479fa5c6b

1. Download that file and extract it somewhere on your machine.
2. Follow the instructions at that site (listed below)
2a) create an account and a worker name here (pool.biblepay.org)
2b) go to the downloaded directory (where you extracted that file)
2c) sudo chmod +x install_biblepay.sh
2d) ./install_biblepay.sh {number of mining threads} {pool worker name}
#    Eg: ./install_biblepay.sh 8 workername

EDIT: If you want to deploy the GUI after that, navigate in a terminal to the folder
$BP_ROOT/biblepay/src/qt

and type the command
./biblepay-qt

(you may need to restart the bbp service before this, I usually just restart my machine directly)

Thank you. How many machines are mining this? estimate?

Re: Beware of Increasingly Sophisticated Malware Infection Attempts
by

Hi I run the lastest verion of linux mint and I have recently started to store some keys (encrypted with password) of various cryptos with small amount of funds on them on my linux system that I also surf with. Eventually those keys will just be stored on paper and offline system but for now I have them on my online system.

What can I do to protect myself from linux malware getting copies of my keys (and possibly bruteforcing the password) or other nasty tricks they can pull of.

I am thinking of getting an usb stick with a live linux enviroment. That way every time I boot from it's a blanc copy.

So as long as I downloaded the iso from a trusted source and check the hashes I should be safe.

I already boot in to tails OS once in a while but they the Electrum wallet build in and I want wallets for more then just bitcoin.

So any tips and tricks in keeping my keys safe? Should I start running additional software on my linux system next to iptables firewall?

I am pretty new to linux too so I don't know how vulnerable my system is from outside interference.  I have my system set to install security updates. But imagine somebody getting acces to a popular linux distory and infecting and pushing out an update. That would be a disaster.

I like to boot .iso files from my usb drive with easy2boot on it, and hopefully there will be a system where easy2boot can calculate the hash of the .iso file so I can always check that hash vs what I have written down on a piece of paper before I load the .iso

The chain of safety in my eyes goes like this.

paper wallet/offline storage > offline linux system > trusted hardware wallet > linux live CD enviroment > online linux system.

Feel free to correct me. Being your own bank is not easy! This new digital gold is every hackers dream. You can go to jail for 10 years and dream about that one private key that you have in memory and come out of jail a billionare (if the chain still exist and your coin still has value).

Euh yeah I was genuinely interested in finding the bible or at least bible verses encoded in the blockchain cause they are hard to erase from there.

Then I found this. I am a Christian and it looks like there is a serious developer behind this bible pay coin.

Is there a good working linux client and is the software safe? I have some keys stored on my linux online machine, not to much but still some.

I am interested in trying out bible pay. Can you still mine it on CPU or did I already mis that boat and now rain is all that is left for me?

I was googling "is the bible in the blockchain" cause I was wonder if somebody has already encoded the entire bible in the blockchain.

Then I found this.

Lol, if the fulfillment of revelation 13:7 ever has anything to do with a  crypto currency it better not use BiblePay to enslave the world, that would be highly ironical.
