Re: Motocoin - Proof of Play (human mineable) cryptocurrency. Launched 20 May.

This coin will no doubt attract bots if it succeeds but at least it won't ever have ASICs. Question:

Why can't this coin support multiple games? Complex open source games never seem to take off, but having a variety of less ambitious games would be great. My computer is too slow to play this, but maybe I'd like to download an Android app and mine some coins. I'll get bored, though. Needs multiple games! Also, this would mitigate the botnet issue as it would be difficult to orchestrate your zombies to play a variety of different games, and also prevent clandestine bot developers from seizing too much of the nethash. Think of it like the Myriad coin of Proof of Play.

Also, heard of Arimaa? It is a board game designed so that a toddler could learn to play but the best human players always beat the bots. There is a $10,000 prize every year for a bot that can beat the world champions in a tournament, and they never win.

Opinions on Myriad?
by
kaja
on 21/05/2014, 01:02:28 UTC
Myriad is mined on 5 separate algorithms. A block for each algorithm is found every 2.5min (so 1 block every 30s). Each algorithm gets a fair share of block rewards. You can even use a profitability switcher to choose the best algorithm for you to mine Myriad. The idea is that a range of different hardware is optimised for Myriad mining to keep good distribution and, someday if Myriad takes off, diversify the competition in the ASIC market to make entry cheaper and less scammy for all. It has a similar effect on pools as one pool could only possibly control 20% of the network if everyone mining that algo used it.

I like this coin and I am invested in it, but the market doesn't seem to be paying attention. The price has barely budged in 2 months out of its 3 month life. So I'd just like to know: Why? Anti-Myriad people, if you're out there, what are your reasons?

Re: Looking for Alt Coins to add on our TXTCoinNow Payment Gateway & Escrow Platform

I've been reading up on cryptocoin SMS services for a while and very excited about the prospect. The Myriad community works with a lot of outside projects. In fact Bryce Weiner is working on a project to establish a coloured coins subset of Myriad called 'Liberdade' in Brazil and educate a group of 100 Brazilians on how to mine Myriad to get the ball rolling. In short, I think TXTCoinNow would work great hand in hand with this project, so you should adopt MYRIAD!!

And to those reading who don't understand the importance of Bitcoin SMS services, look up something called M-Pesa.

I like Auroracoin, but I don't care to see it on any exchanges or services until the airdrop. The dev himself made it clear he wasn't interested in that either. Like the others said I would be happy to see Vertcoin added.

... They still don't have a blockchain explorer, would it be possible for us to give them a Datacoin-style one hosted on our blockchain? ...

No, you can only build a datacoin explorer inside the datacoin blockchain because you only have access to that blockchain.

And BTW, I agree with the Icelandic gov, seems a scam.

Ah, thanks, I was wondering about that. And yes, it does seem like a possible scam, but you never know. Either way it's publicity.

I would pay the datacoins it costs to upload the block explorer. It would get us publicity, so it's worth it.

Have you guys heard of Auroracoin? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=446062.0

It's a week old project to make a cryptocurrency for Iceland. The idea is that 50% of coins are premined, and 45 days from now, every citizen of Iceland will be able to sign up using their national ID number and receive a fair share, 31.8 auroracoins.  An Icelandic member of parliament has already written an article calling it a 'scam' and 'illegal', and the Central Bank of Iceland has reportedly visited auroracoins.org hundreds of times.

I think it's safe to say the Icelandic government won't be happy about it and will take measures to try to censor or shut it down. Do you think Datacoin could help in some way? They still don't have a blockchain explorer, would it be possible for us to give them a Datacoin-style one hosted on our blockchain?

I'd be far more interested if I knew the wallet address where the 50% premine is, so we all know the coins haven't been touched until the airdrop. Anyone know how to find out?

Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin -Human Mining + DualAlgo (scrypt/sha256) & MergeMineable
by

Questions:

1. Where does the 1 coin new player fee go?
2. How do you know the game is fair? That there is no way to cheat it, and don't you think highly intelligent AI will eventually take all the rewards? This game needs to be designed like http://arimaa.com/arimaa/, a game that a well trained toddler could beat a computer at, but still challenging for human vs human.
3. How much room is there to modify the game? Could you eventually complete your Chrono Kings vision through Huntercoin updates and still keep everything secure?
4. Why didn't you make this a CPU/GPU coin instead of an ASIC/GPU coin? Seems like then everyone would be able to play instead of just miners and the odd person who happens to have a very good GPU

So let me get this straight. Recent developments...

  • Datacoin has an excellent online wallet (krypte.net) that makes the file storage/browsing features incredibly easy to use
  • Datacoin added support for files up to 1MB instead of 128KB, and it will now possible to increase that limit
  • It is now possible to update files on the Datacoin chain
  • Datacoin is on 2 of the 3 major alt exchanges, Bter and Coins-E. Cryptsy is also aware of DTC but won't add it because of the potentially large blockchain. The Datacoin dev announced recently that he is working on a lite wallet to get around this.
  • A potentially big new alt exchange is opening up in February that will support Datacoin on launch (comkort.com)

In spite of all this, the community has not grown at all. Activity on this thread has dried up, /r/datacoin has not grown, there have been less blockchain uploads lately. This seems to be completely because there is no PR activity going on at all. For instance, look at the Chinese DTC announcements and you will see that there has been no updates since a couple of weeks after the launch. They are completely unaware of the above developments and still think DTC is just a primecoin scamclone, and so goes the rest of the world who might be interested in DTC.

http://i.imgur.com/FwOX3We.png

Look at the chart and you can see that the volume has been waning and the price is following, but it seems to have bottomed out over the last 6 days. I personally have been waiting for when I think DTC has bottomed out to get in so today has been buy time for me. The fact that the price has remained steady over the past 6 days despite no renewed interest suggests to me that only strong hands are left in the market.

Datacoin is also possibly far more distributed than other coins, according to the top 100 wallets. However the block explorer seems to be down so I will link that info asap. This hint of healthy distribution suggests that pumping and dumping will be difficult and less likely.

So what does this mean?

Datacoin seems poised to have a good rally, but we need awareness. The first thing we need to do is get datacoin.info and krypte.net translated into Mandarin. That is why I propose a bounty and I will pledge 30TC.

We also need to start getting DTC onto some more exchanges. Guys, forget Cryptsy. That will not happen until the lite wallet is made available. Instead lets focus on:

Coinedup.com - Post on http://www.reddit.com/r/CoinedUp/comments/1v9s0p/please_add_datacoin_to_coinedup/
Vircurex.com - https://vircurex.com/welcome/contactus
Mcxnow.com - https://mcxnow.com/contact.html
CoinEX.pw - Post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=291647.0;topicseen
Coinmarket.io - Post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422726.0

And it would be neat for the block explorer Blockr.io to support us: http://blockr.io/addcoin

Don't just write "add dtc pls" like all the scamcoiners do when they flood requests. Write why you actually want to trade DTC. With easy access to up to date information, they are much more likely to add it.

Consider Vertcoin (VTC). Fairly launched, adjusting N-factor scrypt coin. It will be very popular with miners as LTC ASICs roll out and has been growing in spite of the recent down trend. It's currently only on CoinedUp which is too unreliable for many, though it has good volume there with a strong dev and mining community.

We really need to translate Vertcoin information (website, paper, [ANN] on relevant forums) into Chinese. I'm willing to pledge 15VTC to the cause if anyone knows any fluent Mandarin speakers who might be interested in Vertcoin?

I think it would go a long way in convincing Bter to accept us as well.

A lot of people want to buy into Vertcoin but are afraid because the only exchange that carries it is CoinedUp which is very slow and often times out. It has the second highest volume on CoinedUp after doge.

I believe Vertcoin is a good bet because it is young (only 14 days old), has some momentum (going up even despite the recent down trend), and it is an innovative GPU-friendly coin that is ASIC resistant. With Gen 2 LTC ASICs around the corner, I'm sure GPU miners will be turning to Vertcoin this year. Never thought this late in the game I'd be buying GPUs, but, well, here I am.

Hey dataheads,

If you go here:  https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/41704

'Like' the idea
Write a comment

I will award 10DTC to the person who writes my favourite comment. So be convincing! The competition runs until there are 250 likes.

Cheers

P.S. If you need a wallet, I recommend the online one krypte.net. It is very easy to use, and it has features to upload, download, and browse files on the blockchain. Very cool!

I've decided to give 10DTC to the person who writes the best message on the cryptsy thread, according to me. Competition closes when the thread has 250 likes.

I like the idea behind this coin but I still haven't seen any satisfactory answers to the child pornography question. I know that there has been links to child porn found embedded in the Bitcoin blockchain, but with data coin it is different. Actual child pornography could be stored on there. What's more, with the current low price of datacoin, large amounts of child pornography could easily be uploaded. Upon detection, this will surely drive a lot of people away from storing copies of the chain which will further decrease the value of the coin and make it even cheaper to continue to attack.

This 'child porn attack' would be far cheaper to accomplish than potential attacks on other coins.

I really hope I'm wrong here so does anyone have any insights?
