Not saying that it's not useful. But sometimes I see some posts that are like, everyone is going to stop using the dollar and move to bitcoins! I don't really see a majority of the population giving up on fiat.

Do most bitcoin users actually think that bitcoin is going to 'replace other currency, ATMs on every street corner', etc. at some point in the future? Is such a future actually necessary for bitcoin's continued success or maintainance?

I personally think that such a view is not realistic, but I like bitcoin because I believe in the concept, so I will continue to use bitcoin on some occasions. Is the view I mentioned the general consensus of users that use bitcoin, or just the opinion on a few of what COULD happen? Just want to know people's thoughts..

Mass worldwide adoption isn't going to happen...those who think it will are dreaming. But it doesn't really need to. People who want to use bitcoin still can use bitcoin.

If everybody wanted to move to BTC, the dollars to buy the bitcoin would be essentially worthless. Everyone who owned money would have their fortunes and savings become essentially worthless. As this started to happen, those many people who owned USD still would start to lose their appeal of bitcoin, and start to work with USD again. In essence, USD (or any paper currency) would never become worthless simply because so many people would be stuck with it.

For what it's worth, he ended up paying what I sold him (I only had $8 of coins). Whether you trust paypal or not is up to you guys. I will personally trust him if I'm looking to sell small amounts in the future.

I think $100 a bitcoin would be a good price to settle on for now.

One could argue that the price will never be stable unless it's actively being used for exchange.

Also, for a currency to be a currency, there should be more viable ways to obtain it besides spending fiat. You might say sell stuff. Problem is that there are no buyers. To me that actually makes bitcoin worth less.
