Finally got our first KNCminer Jupiter today. I made a quick video of the unbox and setup for everyone.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxuPaCe5hC0

There are alot of things I do not care for on the kncminer box but over all I love it.

Nice, but you could have saved 20 minute if you open it up immediately and mine Tongue

I suppose you are correct hulk. I though some people might want to know how easy it is to get out of the box and what to expect when they get there miner in the mail. I had an extra set of hands so it was pretty easy to get it out of the box. Without some help getting it out of the box you could drop it or possibly destroy the box. I thought some people might like to have that info.

Why would someone want YOU to monitor their accounts?

You can install local monitoring to do the same.  Why would I need 3rd party involved in MY monitoring of MY miners.

Not everyone is interested in installing HTTP servers, opening firewalls, forwarding router ports, upgrading / updating monitoring systems themselves. Some people just want simple, working systems.

yes you can install local monitoring but that will not tell you if your box is offline. If you box crashes how is it going to notify you that it is down. If the Pool crashes how is it going to notify you that it is down. I currently manage well over 5000 machines in our data center. All critical systems get monitored by a third party. Third party monitoring is not a replacement to local monitoring it is simply to ensure your systems are online. No single system is fool proof. Multiple monitors is a good thing.

Oh, so you do email notifications for pools that already do email notifications?  Wow, that's innovation right there.

I never said it was innovative. It is needed for anyone mining at a high rate. We have purchased over 50k in mining hardware in the past 6 months and I want to make sure they are all hashing at there highest capability at all times. I have my notifications going to my NOC where someone can go look at the system 24x7 while I sleep. Today the pools only notify on Idle miners not a miner that has dropped  any percentage of its hash rate.

The Pool only tells you when your Miner is offline. It does not tell you when your hash rate drops. If you have 2 or 10 BFL's hashing on one box how do you currently know if one of them drops offline or not. Also We have seen pools go under attack and not be able to send out the notifications.

Chompthebit.com is not the same notifications that you get from the pool you set your thresholds and get notified when a worker drops below that threshold. Also I like being able to see multiple Pools from one interface.

Hey everyone. We just pushed our Hash Rate Monitor to Beta. It is ready for users to sign up.

http://www.chompthebit.com

We can monitor your hash rate and email you if your hashrate drops below what ever you specify. The two pools we are currently configured to use are www.btcguild.com and www.wemineltc.com

We will be adding more pools for you to monitor your workers on. Send us an email on what pools you want added to be monitored.

Well I know the hash rate has increased dramatically over the last few months. I don't know if it is just me or not but it seems like confirmations are taking longer and longer when sending or receiving BTC. Has anyone else noticed this? Sometimes it is taking up to an hour for me to send BTC to sealswithclubs

The download is not working do you have it stored anywhere else that we can download it? Trial and error on the part numbers is pretty expensive tedious work.

Avalon or Klondike design?
by
kencox
on 31/07/2013, 04:25:32 UTC
Does anyone have a BOM build of materials for either design?
I would like to make my own board but I need a BOM to do so.
if i have to deal with trial and error on every part what is the use of it being open source?

If there a vendor out there that I can purchase all the parts from to build the avalon or klondike parts from?

Leave the plastic on them put a box fan pulling the heat off the card into the room. you will get better results pulling air off the cards than you will pushing it to them unless you can push cold air to the intake fan of the card then you would be golden.

Re: Need advice for rig with 3 x 7950's

I have 2 coolermaster PS and no problem.

1000 is barely ok for 3 7950 so if you whant to add more later go for a bigger one or add a second PS later

No motherboard support 5 pxie*16, at max you have 4, then you use riser1*16 cables to fit into a pcie*1 slot  Grin

I run 1200W Power Supply with 3 7950 with no issues.
