Re: [ANN] New Crypto Currency FRANKO [w/ OPENSOURCE FRK ATM!][NEW WEBSITE Design]

Hey people.

I started mining FRK this past month after a year break. I just checked this thread today. What's the status of the possible fork? It seems like the network stops if I don't mine. Am I still on the proper chain?

Hey people!

I noticed today my wallet has jumped onto a different chain. Does anyone know if the chain on the Chainz Explorer is still correct? Huh I have 6 connection to my wallet, but a 20 block count difference (its shows as up-to-date).

Edit:

I re-downloaded the block chain and its following the Chainz chain now. But I believe Zpool is still on the other chain. Just check you wallets.

At such moments it becomes clear that we need more constant PoW/PoS miners...

I have a question about the POS difficulty calculation. You (Lasergun) mentioned most of the POS blocks are found by the address holding the unclaimed coins. Does that large-amount address raise the difficulty? I have my wallet staking but I'm lucky to find a block once week. Assuming I understand the process (which I may not), would disbursing those unclaimed coins lower the difficulty? Making it easier for the average coin holder to create POS blocks and maintain the network.

so only tx fees is prize in new chain and the bulk of coins was mined in old chain ? it seems not POW/POS if to be precise, maybe something like POT - proof-of-transaction

All the coins are from the old chain. This is a swap. The POW/POS refers to how blocks are created not coins (this is true for any coin). All crypto coins will end up at this point (of no block reward). Having POS for block creation is more attractive than mining since it uses significantly less power. You only need to run your wallet with a sufficient balance and the network will function. Many people, including myself, run their computer 24/7. Adding a few POS wallets barely adds to my power use.

That could be a possibility. I would prefer we go with option 1. If you don't like the other options vote your coins to something else so the last option will not win.

If we will vote for different options, then the last option will win.

Yes I understand that. I don't know how much voting power everyone has. It may be possible for a single person to pick any option and make it a majority (as is already shown). I didn't want to tell anyone what to vote for.

There shouldn't be this option: "Continue until the unclaimed coins are swapped:" because there are people who probably forgotten about 42, lost their wallet due to data corruption and could be used to troll, someone could say "There's one dent left! We can't continue until this dent is swapped!" There would be no moving forward.

I'll put my VPS working on it too.

Edit: i cannot find any working pools.

I just remembered. I believe Prohashing.com has an active pool for old 42. You can either mine it into BTC or receive payment as old 42. Check their website for the proper configuration.

Currently, we have lack of miners in the old chain to confirm transactions to the burn address.

This site should be working: www.mining-dutch.nl

I mine every night for 8 hours (when power is cheapest). I can get the blockchain moving in about 2 hrs. I have my own pool.

edit: I see mining-dutch took the pool offline

I just looked at Cryptopia, it shows 5 connections. My old chain wallet is also running, I have several connections.

I did see a post somewhere from Lasergun (I think) about closing swap for new coins but allowing those with untouched old coins to swap after the deadline. I could support that. Not the same as checking for dead accounts but if I understand correctly there is a record of when coins are moved/created. If that was an option I would say have a deadline for late swap too.

You are right:

As an exception, I will let the people to swap after the January, 2017, if their old coins were not touched after the block #1990382 and we will have remaining the new coins.

But this will be possible only if somebody will still support the old chain (2 nodes + mining).

Oh ok, perfect! I had already voted, I feel even better about it now.

I can be a node for the old chain as well. My old wallet is synced and running. I also mine it on my private pool. So I can support the old network for a short time if needed.

the crane has the meaning of with transactional and commissions for POS are very good, but only with a lot of people, if I'm not mistaken, 42 POS with transactions, but the price should be for four or five zeros to the fucet was in demand

True the only reward for securing the network is from transaction fees. But PoS doesn't take a lot of resources compared to mining. All coins will go into the 0 reward phase. In order for any coin to survive there needs to be some that mine without guarantee of reward (thats a serious concern I have for Bitcoin). I intend to run my wallet always, to support the new network.

Yes if the community wants to run a faucet with the high reward, I would support.

I think I found a typo in the OP. Here at #2 on the timeline it say the swap ends Jan 10 2016.

1. Release a wallet for Windows and Linux with anon tx support and limited money supply / 22.11.2016 - done.
2. Swap/burn the old coins for new (2 old for 1 new) / 29.11.2016 - 10.01.2016 (until we reach 84 coins @ block #1990382 + 42 hours) - IN PROGRESS!
3. Close the cryptopia markets for the old 42 and open for the new 42 / 10.01.2017
4. Release a wallet for Mac and Android / Jan-Feb 2017
5. Make a website / Spring 2017
6. Add 42 to more exchanges / 1st half 2017
7. Build a strong network and community.

It seems I'm a little late to the voting party. I just want to add this though.

I wouldn't want to keep the swap open, at least for new mined old 42 coins. But I'm not sure it would affect the market value. There will still only be 42 coins, it would just be a mining race to get the unclaimed coins. However that could effect the new network as many people would continue to support the old chain. To conclude I would say close the swap for new old 42 coins.

I'm not sure about a faucet for this coin either. The limited supply makes giving small amounts away cost prohibitive. The transaction fee would be a large percentage of anything you send. I'm not suggesting we adjust the fee, its important for PoS miners. You could make the faucet amount larger but the high value of the coin means every claim is a lot of money. Perhaps keeping some for contests would be good. Its just a matter of who holds the coin. Again with the high value, you need community trust. But having a community fund controlled by voting works for me.

Great Idea;
until this address is swapped out the swap stays open
old chain 42 continues to mine, and the only value is to exchange the old42 for new42.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you are saying that until the unclaimed coins are swapped the swap will be open?

All this talk about distribution is good news to me. I had not seen the post about what happens to unclaimed coins. I had figured they would be lost into oblivion. The voting system sounds good. Of course finding original owners is the best. But I imagine many have long dropped and left their coins or lost as mentioned:

Well the folks from Cryptsy would have their own ledger for their own bookkeeping on their coins they manage I would think thats the first place for tracking investors to find the lost coins.. I know personally ive lost .12 of a 42coin from losing my wallet.dat  (flash drive) by accident..   I know their is have to be horror stories and losing your wallet..

Adding more time to swap could help, but what about the 84 coin limit? If you can keep mining old 42, people could swap those, taking the place of the original owners. I suppose it is 1st come 1st serve and there's likely to be many unclaimed coins anyway. Just a thought I had.

First, glad to see the coin is being revived with strong support. I have been following since just before the coding issue was discovered. That was disappointing (mainly because the exchange price took a huge hit  Tongue).

My 2-cents about stuff: I like the name as "42 coin". Also, I like the original logo but since the revival is adding a major change, a new logo is important.

Aside from that, I would like to be a supporting node. This is my IP: 73.211.90.130. The port should be open. Its a dynamic IP, but stable for many months (of course it could change any day now lol). But I have a question about offline warnings. How much time offline counts as a warning? I have nearly 24/7 up-time, but sometimes I need to restart my computer.

Further, I have coins to swap. But since reading about the swap I am mining 42 again. I will need to wait in order to meet the minimum for the swap. I expect to request a swap around Dec 28. I may have some in Cryptopia. Is there any kind of shorter time limit on Cryptopia transfers? Like will Cryptopia block transfers at some point?

I can mine. Just need a working pool to mine from.

I just realized. Have any of you tried wmikrut.com? I'm pretty sure that pool is on the correct chain. There's also a bunch of coins you can mine there. I've mined there on several occasions for other coins without issue. I think the operator is on Bitcointalk, if anyone knows they could check in about the Swing pool.

I would be willing to help with the launch.

A hard fork is fine for me.

I can do staking and mining. I run a private mining pool for myself. I created it a several months ago when I couldn't find a Swing pool on the correct block chain. And since the halt last month it seems like I'm the only one mining Swing.

I stake on Windows and run my pool on a Linux VM (Ubuntu). I can usually build the Linux wallet from source no problem but I fail when building for Windows. So if a built Windows version could be provided along with the source that would be awesome.

I could begin staking probably within an hour of getting the new wallet. I only mine 6 hours a day at night (power cost), so depending when the launch is it might be a several hours before I would mine. But I will adjust the schedule if the time gap is large and/or the network is struggling.
