Re: WTB 1 Red-Ringed Xbox 360
by

actually, i have exactly what you want, but, with something you may or may not find to be a bonus

I have a red ring of death xbox 360, older.
This xbox 360 was also flashed and modified to play burned games

After it ended up doing this, I meant to try to get it fixed, but ended up just getting another one.
I dont know if you fixing the red ring of death will overwrite the flashing mod to play burned games, but because i have no use for them anymore, i will also throw those in. What you offering?

Oh ps, I also have a ps3 old one, with the yellow light of death lol. But this is one of the ones with all the different card slots, i know its valuable, but, I don't want to get it fixed either. I'm just to lazy to find someone on cl, drop it off, pick it up, and hope it all goes smoothely lol

Anyways let me know if your interested in one or both. I'll see how many total games i have for the xbox 360 that are the burned ones too if it suits you

Fixing it won't flash over the mod, but I would update the modded firmware anyway Tongue How much are you looking to get for it?

WTB 1 Red-Ringed Xbox 360
by

Have a broken red-ringed Xbox 360? Looking to score some bitcoins? Let's make a deal. Here's what I'm looking for:
-An OLDER Xbox 360, not an elite/black/slim model. If you have the serial # and production date (found on the back), I can tell you if I'm interested in buying it.
Here's what I need to know:
-What accessories come with it. Obviously I am going to be willing to pay more if you've got cords, controllers, hard drives, wireless adapters, etc. I would like a console that at least comes with the power cord, but I would like AV cables and a controller included.
-Xbox-Live status. Is the console banned or ever have been banned?
-Condition. Are there any major problems with the console you had before the red-ring of death? Is the console new looking, or a little beat up?
-Modifications. Has the console been modded in any way? If so, how? I will be modding the console myself is why I ask.
-Offer. Tell me how much you're looking to get.

Again, OLDER Xbox 360's only, no elite/black/slim models please!

It's hard to say, I'm not sure what the value is estimated at right now. Normally I go off mtgox or tradehill rates.  If you've got a game to gift, make an offer?

Removable fan filters are nice, mine came with plastic grilles you can snap the filters on and off of. They don't slow down my airflow at all, unless they get clogged. I just run em under hot water and dry them really well once a week. I use canned air to clean off the inside if it seems to be getting dusty.

Re: card is at 90f
by
kirby9058

Personally, I'm running a mineral oil computer with an attached chiller, and I'm maintaining about 55C on my GTX 470's (its a gaming rig, only started on bitcoins recently) while mining.  I got into computer cooling as a hobby several years ago, and have played with liquid cooling, mineral oil, and mechanical chilling.  From what I understand, every 10C over 50C you roughly halve the lifetime of the component in question, though I don't know what the normal expected life of a well cooled card is.

If you're maintaining 90F on a card while mining, I'd be astonished.  I don't know how you'd manage that without some serious phase-change equipment.
I don't get how that could be true when most modern GPU's I've dealt with have idled over 60C... do you have a source for that?

Re: Crap XFX Cards Getting Higher Speeds/Cooler Temperatures Than Gigabyte Cards?
by
kirby9058
on 13/06/2011, 06:15:52 UTC
I an XFX 5830, recently bought a Sapphire 5830 off newegg when they were cheap. The XFX runs cooler, can handle a higher GPU clock, and actually lets me downclock my memory even lower than the Sapphire does. I don't know where this whole "XFX is crap" thing came from, but they make some decent hardware. My last few gaming cards have been from XFX, and they have all been great.

I have 2 5830's. One is running at 925/275 (270 mhash/s~), other one is at 900/575 (260 mhash/s~). I'm using poclbm in GUIminer with the flags: "-v -w 256". Running cards independently in windows 7 x64, if that helps.

Well, I was smart and used my pre-existing gaming rig as my mining rig. Already had a 5830, just bought a 2nd one. If mining stops being profitable for me, at least I've got a decent gaming rig!

Re: Running cards independently with crossfire bridge?
by
kirby9058
on 10/06/2011, 00:21:20 UTC
But I can still run the cards independently with the bridge installed, right? I was under the impression that you have the option to turn crossfire on or off. But again, I've never used Crossfire before. Also, both cards will be hooked up to displays, so I don't need dummy plugs. The reason I want the bridge installed is to have the ability to switch between crossfire for gaming, and running cards independently for mining.
