I think that error shows to people with small monitors or like laptops . Coz it tries to switch to mobile version of the site which is not working atm .

It makes me sad that my 1920x1080 resolution is still considered small Sad
If I try on a 15" monitor on a different pc it gives the same 'an error occured' notice. Happens on both pc's on both Chrome (also in Private) and Firefox. However, if I try on my tablet, where I would expect it to switch to a mobile version, it does work.

old.primedice.com works.
primedice.com/#/verify works
primedice.com/#/leaderboard works

primedice.com -> error
primedice.com/#/welcome -> error
primedice.com/#/play -> error

the problem is not with the fee to take out your coin, the real problem its this, trc thing, people send trc coin to the exchange, the exchange take them but you can not exchange the coin then what you can do? take them back in your wallet yes? ok now pay the fee for nothing, no exchange only fee to take what is to you. btw to all genius in here, the bank dont charge a fee to me to take my money out, yes they do when i exchange of make transaction or other service but never to take my money out of my bank account.

An exchange is not a bank though. Why send coins to the exchange if your intention is not to exchange it. That your price wasn't met is hardly their fault, is it?

try to post now, I'm not sure if I fixed it or not. Some people were not added to the group that I swear I had validated yesterday, not sure what's up.

Still insufficient rights. Tried logging in again as well since some forum software requires that for a change in rights, but that didn't help.

I PM-ed my email yesterday, do I need to send it again?

Adding you to the group of Verified users should have given you permission to do these things.

I manually set your permissions, so you should be good to go now. My apologies.

Still noooo. That makes me a sad puppy.  Cry

Looking at the XenForo-help-forum, a permission-setting on a higher-board level might be the issue. (Although it's odd that TheJuice was able to post if he has the same group).

I have setup the basic structure of our forums with a few different threads with specific purposes and important information is stickyied.

I would like it if we could slowly move all conversation over there, because it will help us stay organized and let people find important information quicker.

If you have not already done so, please register on our forums and PM me or Relm9 the email address you're registering from so I can verify your identity.

Re: Explaining Bitcoin To The Average Person (How?)
by
koquillion
on 31/03/2013, 19:18:30 UTC
I'd like this thread to be a discussion on creating a sort of script on how to go about briefly explaining Bitcoins to the average person. Word of mouth has played, and will continue to play, a huge role in Bitcoin's adoption, and so it makes sense that we're all prepared to explain it efficiently and effectively.

If you had 45 seconds, through an informal conversation with a friend, how would you explain it, it's benefits, and why the person should consider buying some?

Some of the common responses i've received are:

1. I can already buy stuff electronically with a credit card.

2. WTF does cryptocurrency mean?

3. Can't I just get hacked?

4. Can't someone just hack the bitcoin code?

5. So it's just electronic gold?

6. Why can't someone just make fake coins?

7. Blockchain? Hashes? Confirmations? This is all too technical for me, I don't even understand what code is. I'll just stick with the paper dollar in my hand, can't hack that.

8. So would a retail store have a separate price for Bitcoins since it cuts out the cost of "middle men"?

Add your own.

If you get those kinds of reactions, then you're explaining it wrong. Even more so if you only had the 45 seconds you suggest. Unless the person you are speaking with already knows a lot about a very related subject, there is no reason whatsoever to mention anything about the blockchain or confirmations in your introduction of bitcoin. Keep it as simple as possible, comparing it to things they already know about (even if that is not 100% factually correct). And work from there in future conversations about the subject. There is no need for them to know everything instantly. Attempting to convince them to buy some is waywaywayway to early at this stage.
When you introduce someone, for example, to online banking, why would you even begin to explain what steps the banks take to technically get the money from one account to another? They don't need that information at first (and may never need it).

Also, for such subjects, there is no 'average person'. You can't use a list of prepared oneliners to throw at them, you need to know who you are talking to, because otherwise, you're talking about two totally different things. You might think you're telling them about 'a new kind of money',  but all they hear is 'something nerdy to do with computers'.

In ownership percentages excel... i calculated my share and found its a bit different because the sum is a different one than the price of 7 avalons. 722,7025BTC is the price but the sum is 719,6035BTC. That shouldnt be possible i think.

That's probably because the sheet was updated with spinner's mysterious 3.1BTC.

3.101BTC then. I searched all pages of this thread and only found 2 posts that had such value:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=157930.msg1676001#msg1676001
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=157930.msg1676396#msg1676396

A bit strange if coinhoarded didnt accidentally order the avalon from his own money partly.

The difference is actually 3.099BTC. If I compare this current version of the sheet with the one I have locally, spinner goes from a share of 53.099 to a share of 50.

CoinHoarder,

Hey, I just checked your ownership spreadsheet and you have me down as 53.099 coins, but to my reckoning I only invested 50 BTC.  I think you added my payment of 3.1 twice  Huh

I'd be glad to take them, but rather get it fixed now.  It'd be a mess if this were exposed after mining.  Tongue

Incoming: 1+19+20+3.1+35 -> 78.1
Outgoing: 17.497 + 7.504 -> 25.001

That would add up to 53.099 wouldn't it?

If the 3.1 isn't yours, then the 7.504 would be too much refunded as well to that address?

If you had 7% of the 1st unit, and there were 7 more units added, you would have 1% of 7 units.
It is the same expected income and ROI.

It would be if they all arrive at the same time. Their point is that, in a worst case scenario, when one unit arrives on the first of the month, and the other six on the last of the month, they would only have 1% of the one unit during the first month instead of the 7%. I was one of the investors of the first two units as well, and I do understand the 'problem', but having 7 units also has it's advantages (like less risk). It's also unlikely that there will be weeks between deliveries (and would expect them all to be sent together, if at all possible.

Ok before I sound like a complete a**hole. I should mention a compromise, say 50% ownership until "your" miner arrives.  After that then you're 100% vested.  So here are the scenarios:

  • 1. Everyone's 100% vested from the begining
  • 2. Once the nth miner is received only shared that helped buy all miner up to that one are 100% vested
  • 3. Once the nth miner is received shared not represented by the remaining miners are only 50% vested

That might/will cause a new discussion when the units are not received in the order they were bought. You could say that the first miner received counts as the first one ordered, but one could also argue that, if the fifth one arrives first, that we wouldn't have anything yet without the investors in the fifth unit.

I've messaged the above members re: my shares. Like it's been mentioned, I appreciate CH accommodating transfers. I think we will be wildly successful, but just want to lower my exposure.

FYI: current high bid is 1.6x.

Well, I'm not going to enter a bidding war at this stage, that this surely will turn into Wink

Is it worth starting a new bidding thread?

Why not do that on our new forum.  Grin

Well, I'll stick with the trade-suggestion I made earlier. If someone wants to part with (a portion of) their share for a price with a maximum of a 20% addon, let me know.  Grin

Don't know why it take us so long to do simple thing as this.

It's because we don't have a jazzy groupname yet. We need that to identify with.

Seriously though, it's probably because the group became way larger than expected and things escalated and CH has been busy with making sense out of his administration. It's a good idea to delegate some tasks (such as a site/forum) to several others.

Obviously, The Magnificent Seven.

I could go with that.
