Long live Bitcoin!!

I sure hope everyone is getting their fill of cheap coins.

But is it really cheap? The selloff might still continue. Trump managed to pump the stocks on friday but I doubt it'll last and it seems like BTC is being liquidated to make up for the losses.

Last weekend there was a selloff in the night between sunday and monday in anticipation of the falling stocks. I am waiting to see if the same happens again.

Wall Street bonuses had an effect last year when TOTAL market cap was at 15B$. Now we are at ~700B$. Going to need some serious improvements with fees (Coinbase...), ETF or maybe even a working LN implementation with some bigger retailer to go to moon. None of these are bound to happen anytime soon (going to take months at minimum).

It just means that we're not out of the woods yet... duh...

I mean, we just had a large correction from 850 billion market cap down to 650 in a day. Bitcoin dropped from almost 18k to 13k at one point.

To think that small bounce back to 14k bitcoin is "safe" is not correct.

It's good that he isn't recommending a short, but right now we are still more bear than bull. We had a bounce, and now we are waiting for the retaliation, which will drive BTC prices down even more.

So just wait and see...

Exactly. We are more likely to go down than up. BTC as it is is almost unusable due to network congestion and high fees. I would love to see it go up but I doubt it will happen before these pressing issues are fixed. The problem is that LN is not a short term solution and there is no way of forcing big exchanges to use it in any case. Hell, many of them aren't even using segwit or batching (Coinbase etc.). I've started to seriously think about trading my bitcoins to ethereum or even bcash (even though I think that Roger Ver is a scam artist) to not to lose my assets.

Who HODL'd all the way down from the top?

I did. Haven't sold a fraction of bitcoin and I deeply regret my decisions  Grin.

Now I will not die even if my bitcoins go to zero so I might as well see how it turns out.

What happens in autumn 2018?

My guesstimate on when the LN might be ready enough to be utilised in commercial role. Segwit would need to be adopted on the first half as well by the big services.

Ahh kosse, how are you feeling? Can you walk?

Easily. I'm a veteran of many testosterone dripping manly close combats.

But back on topic: I predict 11k in the weekend. Maybe less.

Don't like this action around $14k territory. Makes me nervous.
....
No shit, all this volatility is really starting to stress me out.
....

/randomthoughts

See, this is exactly  what I was referring to earlier. The price action is screaming that the old mammoth will go down but since we (me as well) are so heavily invested in BTC we refuse to see the bigger picture. However, the biggest problem is that there aren't even any good news in the short term horizon. LN isn't here yet (and nobody knows if it will catch wind when it finally comes), major services are not interested in implementing SegWit (which already gives LN little chance of success), ETFs are facing problems (the applicants are told to back off by SEC) and other major cryptos are advancing in huge leaps. Every logical reason tells me to cut my losses and run. But still I'm wondering if by miracle it could still go up...how much more I could have had I had sold in December etc. Stupid weakness that will surely be my undoing (and of so many others).

The tide won't turn until bitcoin is fixed. And the fixes are taking too long time. Major correction ahead to realistic price levels (sub $5000, maybe even slightly lower than bch!).

In my opinion BTC is just starting it's bigger downwards spiral / bear market. There is no quick fix to the unconfirmed transactions or fees so the situation will most likely keep turning worse at least until autumn 2018 (and that is a long time in cryptoworld).

I'm beginning to like you. You seem like a very nice young man. Would you like to see my coin collections? Here, have a glass of Bolly, son.

He's already been claimed by this old queen. Back off or have your eyes scratched out.

Do you suggest then that bitcointalk.org should shut down also. Given that most of the altcoins gain part publicity through this website do you think we should move to rippletalk.org or ethereumtalk.org?

Also shouldn't we be there already if BTC is dead in the water?

It's propably a good idea to keep the name for historical reasons. Like I said: Bitcoin still cleared the way. Or it could be renamed to Cryptotalk.org if it has not been taken. Either suits me. But we both know that big ships steer slowly!

Get the fuck out of here.

RIGHT. OUT.

Sorry, I still hold dozens of bitcoins so while the mammoth is not dead I'm going to hang by. Doesn't stop me from saying how I believe it's going to end up nonetheless  Wink.

Do you really believe those alts hold any value? I mean, is your life changed by 0x or doge? or Stellar?
If you are only in it for the money, then think about it well, as eventually people will start wondering where the hell are they investing on

Their value is in the eye of the beholder...just like Bitcoin's is. That said, I am fairly sure a huge implosion is coming. It's almost too evident seeing how people are pumping billions and billions of dollars in all kinds of meaningless coins. Will it come in one month or one year remains to be seen.

Another obituary. Coolio.

I give credit to BTC where it's due i.e for clearing the way for the alternate cryptocurrencies. It's an achievement that will be written in the pages of history. But the reality is that newer cryptos are speeding past it and it's just a matter of time (maybe a few months or even less) before the king is dethroned.

Bitcoin is losing ground for good. Better and stronger alts are gaining the momentum. Kudos to the old mammoth for doing the heavy lifting but now it has become weakened and blind. It's time for the younger competitors to take the lead.
