All that time invested in trolling has zero results, this idiot dont realize that he coud better find a job and buy coins with that rewards. But he cant...hes to ugly and fat to even get hired at the Mac.
He got very low iq, he sold his coins for $10, he lost so much money  Cheesy  Ohh yhe that anger!

I don't like these repeated threads or his "I told you so"-posts either, but name calling and bad behaviour is completely uncalled for. You are entitled to an opinion, but if it is like that, better show some "high IQ" and keep it to yourself. Welcome to my ignore list. Congratulations, you are my first.

Today my Antminer works as usual (1.24 TH) but I only get around 0.5 TH as accepted shares on Nicehash, and no rejected shares to speak of. I am used to a 10% lower rate on nicehash, but this is too much. Is there an explanation for this? For the time being I stop hashing here.

trying to mine on westhash I put p=0.0122 and my miner is not mining put if I just put x as password it mines how to I set the p value ?

if you put a password for miner -> p=0.001 on your ant miner interface, it doesn't mine at all, same for d=1024 or some combination like p=0.001;d=1024

you need stratum proxy I guess...

Make sure you do not use #XNSUB feature. Then p=0.01 should work.

I had some time today to build something to close the case of the S5. I still have the miner standing vertical. Closing the bottom of the miner helped in bringing temps of blade 2 down 3 degrees. But covering the top was not as expected and caused blade 1 to increase temps by 2-3 degrees and blade 2 increased by 1 degree. Fan speed increased two steps too. So now I am using vertical setup with standard fan, closed bottom and run the miner at 393.75 with 1280 GH at 43 degrees max.

one fan how cold is the room Ive been thinking of adding some plexiglass at the  bottom my self i have a peace laying around cut  to fit it . and heat sink two of the chips again . i need them a little more less noise . here one of mine  standing up.

Room temp is at 10-11 degrees.

Back to fans. Noctura not-f12 is supposed to be a quiet 120mm with speeds up to 3000rpm. From reading all this, noise is the issue but you have to decide if you want speed or noise. The faster the s5 hashes the louder the fan because in order to keep the s5 in working temps (below 60) you have to push a lot of air and have the s5 is an ideal location. If you want a quiet fan then you need to sacrifice hash speed because the air displacement from fan has to exceed the heat generated to keep the s5 cool. This has been my struggle.

But I can't figure out why the s5 needs to be below 60c? Most computers run at or over 60c. The over temp cutoff is software set at 80c. I do get some hw but over a 12 hr period and from what Ive read some hw is ok but when does it become an issue?
Unlike the Spondoolies or Hashfast chips (or your CPU) the S5s don't have a thermal diode right on the chip. The temperature sensor is on the back side of the board, and so is really measuring the temperature of the PCB. It's unknown (at least to me) what a good rule of thumb is for mapping die temperature to the temp sensor reading, but it's pretty much guaranteed to be a decent bit higher than what the unit says.

Ok, so like most temp sensors, there is a variance and to error on the side of hot is better. Ok so my s5 running at 55 and 58 are probably running more like 60 and 65. But hardware errors? What causes them to occur and why would they occur at temps in the safe zone with no overclock, underclock say at 275Mhz? The miner still functions with hardware errors and they are less frequent than with my antminer U3. I guess the goal is 0 hardware errors =stability but 0 hardware errors = cooler temps in the below 60c range and that is where fans come in.

Probably in the 80s, its hard to tell. I'll see if I can measure the external chip temp at least when I'm next in there.

I would think the actual temperatures may be even higher, as the data sheet for the BM1384 states a max. operating temperature of 125° Celsius.

Vertical airflow sucks for actually dealing with that heat once it comes off the units, so unless you're in a multifloored data centre with floor to ceiling airflow, you're just making it more difficult to expel that heat. At least with horizontal flow you can then DO something with it, ie move it elsewhere / outside.

so much bullshit...

the point is hot air rises and cold air descends, but that is hard to understand for you Tongue
Tell me about it!
And what exactly is that which you can do with horizontal airflow that you can not do with vertical airflow in a non data-centre setting? I'll, for the umpteenth time, put it down to dogie-waffle.
Move it out the room? I don't know about you guys but I don't have doors / windows on my ceiling...

A wise man changes his mind, a fool never will...

Strato thank you for sharing this idea of vertical mounting. I just tried it out the last few hours and had some interesting results:

1. Avg. temps are the same, but before the S5 was laying on the floor, now it is 1m higher, so the room temperature there is 1 or 2 degrees higher for sure - so the cooling of the unit must have improved

2. One blade was always at least 5 or 6 degrees hotter before, now it is only 2 or 3 degrees, sometimes even the same temps

3. Hashrate has only slightly improved (still waiting for long term results)

4. HW error rate is down appr. 15%

I will continue with the vertical setup and see where it goes.

Thanks again.

For what it's worth, ZoomHash is still at $325 + shipping. They accept PayPal and Credit Cards. They claim 5 days shipping in the USA.

Alas this is not be. I got an E-mail from Zoom Hash less than 48 hours later saying that they had to cancel the order. So my "S5 for $348 shipped to Minnesota, paid with Discover" turned into a flop. They are crediting the money back. Bummer.......  Undecided

My shipment was canceled too. Even with a simple excel sheet I would be faster than 3 days to know what I have in Stock or not... Speechless...  Lips sealed

IMHO you should just be happy if your Antminer has OC potential at all. My miner is barely running at default speed in a cold environment and produces more HW errors than I would like to see. So if you are one of the lucky ones with a "golden sample" maybe you could get even more out of it with a voltmod, but at that point you should probably buy a SP20 (watt/GH)?!

S5s have been stable and hashing away.
How do I get extranonce working with nicehash ?
Using Jan 7th firmware.
Appending #xnsub to the end of the pool URL makes extranonce work, but when the price set in the password is no longer met, the miner keeps the pool alive but without any work, and will not fail over to the 2nd pool.

I have the exact same problem. I posted it in the Nicehash thread but no answer yet. I hope someone can help. Thank you in advance.

I'm an idiot, didn't even check just saw it as the top option.
Thanks.
I'm using:
p=.012;d=1024
for my password.

I would suggest to use a leading zero:

p=0.012;d=1024

Don't know if it's required but that's how it's shown in the FAQ.

I tried it exactly like that with my S5 and it does not mine at all till I use a standard password again...

It is maybe because that you have set a higher price or the difficulty is very high.

   ~~MZ~~

I tried it with lower values too. The question is: why does the miner not even switch to the second pool I have entered?

Is it possible to find blocks this fast?? I think something is wrong here...

You're not mining BTC. Whoever is renting your hashrate through NiceHash is mining an altcoin - Neos or whatever the latest "thing" is.

Ahh OK, thank you for explaining.

I tried the p=xyz price feature with my Antminer S5 today and the miner stopped working. Not even my alts were mining. Does this not work with Ant S5?

And is the Multiminig possible with Ant S5?

Thank you.

Anyone tried running one of these beasts off 2 PSU's ... aka 1 for each board?
Not sure whether I am seeing correct numbers so I'll cross-check with anyone who has (or has not for that matter).

Running 1 S5 with 2 Dell 550W server PSU's ..... I took this snapshot an hour ago, but the errors have crept up to 25 (0.0008%)

EDIT: And I am running this with just an S3 fan in pull .... seems like the stock fan arrived dead!

I am not running a 2 PSU setup. But I have lots of HW errors even if I underclock the S5. I am running now with 0.02% error rate default speed. I am using a 730W Xilence PSU with 56A on the 12V rail. Could HW errors occur more often if the S5 has problems with the PSU?

EDIT: I have not seen more than 41 degrees celsius on the blades due to winter time...

It might. I've never heard of that brand of PSU. Is it 80 plus? Bronze or gold rated? Can you measure the watts at the wall. You may be cutting it close with that one, if it's not very efficient.

Edit: I have had issues running miners in too cold of an environment in the past. It could be the cold, but I still suspect the PSU.

Xilence (http://www.xilence.de/en/home.html) is a german/chinese company. The PSU is 80 plus certified. It was tested for efficiency and reached 82%. Under full load the 12V rail had 11.85V. Peak power output before it shuts down was tested at 900W combined power. Based on that data I thought it should do the job. Sadly I can not measure the power consumption at the wall.
