I received a found block notification....... I suppose I can disregard due to the restart?

Got two of those in a row and was all excited... good to see the pool at 144PHs! Looks like Canaan just added/testing an additional 2PH, and bluelagoon has either returned/failed over.

Holy smokes!  This guy is super lucky to hit 2 blocks in one day with just 132TH!  Shocked

Mine on!  Wink

I'd say he should probably try solo mining for a few days, but luck doesn't work that way so I'll just say I'm glad we can share in the luck Smiley

Chance of you finding a block in one day:    1 in 1,304.0 (132TH)
Chance of two blocks in one day: 1/(1304^2) = 1 in 1,700,416
So you're saying there's a chance......
but what about the one who earlier in March caught the block with 7 TX / S? if this is not luck then what is it? Wink

Good point... of course they would have the same chance (1/1304) at solo mining, so then we're just gambling with an electricity bill  Wink

Well actually Smiley (no not the maths)
When you reboot a miner it gets a new unique number that's in the coinbase sig as I mentioned in that long post.
So it does actually change your hash results Smiley
Of course it's random ... but it does change it.

So, in theory, the newly generated hash might be what ends up solving a block?  maybe the old one is worn out...  :-)  Its like playing the same lottery numbers over and over again?  but I just changed the lotto numbers?

In theory, yes. On the other hand, the pool sends you new "lottery numbers" (approximately) 3 times per minute... and there's the peculiar situation that there's an extremely small but finite chance ("So you're saying there's a chance?") that the next block could have been hiding a few trillion numbers away in the nonce that was being used before you rebooted.  Smiley

Rebooting would probably be more beneficial if you were worried there was some sort of hardware issue where chips or memory weren't rolling properly.

i was standing up a new miner against kano.is just now - cgminer won't initialize, other pools work fine though. So maybe if your already part of the pool your good, if your just joining going to have to wait it seems.

Yep - cgminer's already connected to a pool server will continue operating normally until the connection drops because it already knows the IP of the server and has no need for DNS lookup Smiley

What is this? Keeps saying some are available but cant even get to the cart. Website is broken af.

Even if you get one in your cart (and it says you have 10 mins to complete check out), when you go to check out, it gives you an out of stock error.

This is the first time I've tried to order from Blokforge, so was hoping their site would work better than some of the other distributors  Sad

A suggestion for your cart code... use fair queuing:
Set global table lock on product counts
Check available qtys
Reserve items (or update qty table)
Unlock access
Repeat and handle next customer request
Not perfect but simple.
EDIT: making it sound less like a rant

Pff, 17 is small Smiley

Ha, that's right, you cracked the 22.67 BTC "Christmas Eve Eve block" :-)

This one was technically a 40 minute block since any network transactions were confirmed, because the previous block was an empty AntPoo one...

I laugh when I read this stuff.

Telco's put in 24 fibre becuase it is the smallest they have as a cable.  They treated it as commercial becuase it was not on a residential street with multiple houses.  The commerical ALWAYS gets 24 fibre, and they use 1.  The cost you wrote before 1000?  I think you getting robbed. I can get 150/150 symetrical for 100-125 cnd.

Indeed, I can confirm that Minergain is probably being accurate... down here in Ohio, several years ago, Spectrum (then Time Warner) installed fiber to my home datacenter for a hell of a deal, partly because I was just a short walk off of the closest node with existing dark fiber. They used a 12-fiber bundle which I believe is single-mode with WDM because the down/up channels are on the same optical fiber. Cost has dropped since then but is about $1200/mo for 100Mb symmetrical. Of course, the cost is partly due to the carrier-grade level of service, my SLA covers free router, four-nines uptime (99.99%) and a 4-hour tech response.

Anyway... getting way OT... nice to see that Kano is in 2nd place on the network for highest transaction fees in the block reward, which are also paid out. New miners who are unsure about sticking around for the long haul with Kano should take note! Mine On.

But for what is worth they hit another block about 20 mins ago and I happened to notice it when they were about 12 mins in to the next block and kanopool info was showing it being 2 mins in to the next block and so I put the 2 pages next to each other and hit refresh on kano and then I took a screen shot for you so you can see what I mean.   and got it just in the nick of time because only a few seconds later someone some were found that block and then it was on to the next one when I refreshed the kano page again.
I think I see the confusion... the UI in your left screenshot is showing the time into their pool round, not the time into a network block. If you look at the table to the right of the 12 minutes in your screenshot, it shows Slush found a block 11 minutes before, which triggered a new round. Back when it was a much smaller pool, that round timer would show 2, 4, even 12 hours until a pool block was found (I use them as backup). So the timer doesn't have anything to do with the current network block listed below it. I can confirm that the last network block time on kano's website almost always matches up when I'm logged in there and happen to check against another site like btc or tradeblock... or my bitcoin node :-)

Hi bro,

Thanks for pointing that out!

My main priority 0 miner configuration is set to stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333

I am from Malaysia. Where do i see the list of server? I can't find it on the main page of kano.is hehe

Looking forward for your reply!

Regards,
Kenny

The title of this forum contains all server prefixes (xx.kano.is) that you can use to connect to the pool. I would ping each one to find the best one for you (likely to be SG but could end up being JP or just stratum)
Admittedly, this forum is so large a lot of the details about the servers are buried here. Maybe Kano could explicitly add the regional servers to the first forum post?

>>> This pool also operates regional servers, try pinging each of the following to find the best for your location (recommended: may reduce block submission time and stale rate)
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 (Western US)
stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 (Eastern US)
stratum+tcp://de.kano.is:3333 (Germany)
stratum+tcp://sg.kano.is:3333 (Singapore)
stratum+tcp://jp.kano.is:3333 (Japan)
stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:3333 (Netherlands)

Just got notice my first 741 just got shipped, woot!

I think you'll really like them! Their (the company) responsiveness has not been all that great, but adding independent suppliers seems to be helping push things along. The Avalons themselves are bulletproof... currently have 9 of them. I'm running 3 in Canada along with 2 AntMiners. The AntMiner S9 already has one partially burnt-out board, and my lucky S7 (found 2 blocks over the last year, and I bought it used!) unfortunately likes to randomly drop out for no reason on occasion. The three Avalons there run 24/7 at 7.6-7.7 TH stable. The other six I have here in-house. Of those, three have been running for the last 9 months almost flawlessly. Just make sure your controller and miners are running the latest firmware.

Side note... I also run the in-house ones at a slightly lower power setting to reduce fan noise and keep things stable with a slightly bizarre 10" duct heat removal system:
Code:
Voltage Offset: -2
More Options:   --avalon7-temp 94

And they still push 7.7 TH reliably, at about 1200W at the wall, 240V circuit. I don't necessarily recommend that second setting as Canaan targets the chips to 90C, but it works well for me...

Block  by cobramining.one Grin
Holy smokes!!!  Roughly .00338 BTC per Day per TH!!!  Bigger than any of my mining times since August.  Helps build up for some multi-day ones that are sure to come at this hash rate.

I'm calculating around 0.000483 BTC/TH/day for the last 4 days... but that is still close to double the daily average for the last 3 or so months which is ~0.000251 BTC/TH/day. With the smaller pool hash rate in the last few days, my payouts are just smoking anything I've received in awhile  Smiley

As I'm sure Kano would point out, we're also still 4 blocks ahead of expected through April, and both the long-term pool luck and payouts are over 100% expected.

I am curious of the results of the share re-processing, though, as it does seem on the last 2-3 occasions of pool hash rate spikes, we end up with horrible luck during that time.

In any case - have three 741s coming from MinerWarez at the end of the week so I'm very excited to see how reliable their distribution network is, and grow our hash rate a little bit!

The scam site appears to be gone now. Glad I tested out the free 100 gh for some days to see if it would pay out first before buying into this scam. I thought it was real because I just bought poolshares some days ago from a guy who uses your pool.
I managed to get cloudflare to show a warning before you get to the site so that probably helped for a while.

Now, however, they've moved off cloudflare and the IP 181.215.237.175 has no abuse/contact details in whois and they are back up and running.
As mentioned above, stay away from the site, it's a scam.

Good to know!

Looks like that IP (and DNS) is hosted by RivalHost. They look legit, based out of Oklahoma, but who knows - could also be a spam/crime-friendly host given the DDOS protection services. Here's their contact info:

Hello,
I just recently tried to purchase an A741 and controller from the canaan website.
They do not seem to have any kind of automated payment set up.
I sent a request into their support via a ticket, as it seemed to indicate to do.
Does anyone have any past experience they can give me that might help?
dzimmerm

Last time I bought from Canaan, they replied back with two payment options: bank transfer and Bitcoin. Bitcoin probably your best bet for obvious reasons and low fees. If you do a bank transfer, make sure you get a street address and phone number for the company (not their bank) as I ran into an issue with that at my bank when I sent them USD.

Also, hello from Columbus!

Hello Kano...Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like Ive found a home for my miners. A few of us here in Las Vegas decided to start a small set up and see how it goes. We all realize its a long term investment thing and understand that it may be too hard to mine from a basement...Smiley We have resources to add more Hash Power if need be... Problem I see will be during summer here in Las Vegas...but plan on using dryer ducting to route hot air directly outside. Will be registering new workers ASAP we have 2 S9 units that are coming on the March 7th Batch...They say 14.5 TH/s   we shall see. May have more questions in future but I am a quick learner... Instead of putting my money in slot machines I put it into Bitcoin atm machines and buy Bitcoin, winner every time!

Welcome! Just some unsolicited suggestions on the dryer ducting... I'm currently testing a setup in that way with (3) Avalon 741 miners, each with a 3d-printed 120mm fan to 4" dryer duct adapter and semi-rigid ducting. After lots of reconfiguration, I have them at stable temps in a 4" => 6" (6x8 wye) => 8" (8x10 wye) => 10" (trunk) running directly to a 10" wall cap to send the hot air right outside. Also helps to reduce some of the fan noise in my "semi-commercial" datacenter room. The most critical tips I can give are (1) put the miners as close to your exit wall as possible to reduce/eliminate any angles, especially 90deg ones, in the ducts. If at all possible, just give them their own exit vent. (2) it's critical (for the Avalon or the S9's) to keep room/inlet temps below about 28-30C and make sure you have fresh air coming in somehow (inlet vent/AC/etc.) because of the negative air pressure (3) give these things plenty of airflow. 10" duct is already pushing the limits of my three miners in terms of restricting airflow.... my HVAC guy was blown away (pun intended) when I told him these "computer fans" can move 250CFM per fan at top speed. A better solution if you have the space would be a hot/cold channel... you could host a lot more miners in that configuration and just have a big fan at the end of the hot channel sending it outside or feeding back into an AC unit. Good luck! Curious to hear what you come up with in the Vegas summer as I'm in the midwest.
