Going with 2x engine cooling fans from a local carparts warehouse. 14" 2200rpm 80watt 12V - 530cfm, so 1060cfm total. 70$ new for both so fairly cheap, hopefully that is enough and if not a third will be added for 1590cfm total.
I tried these fans in the GPU days in 2012. They are extremely fucking loud and they get very hot. I had to disconnect them after a few days because they smelled like burning. I don't think they are meant to be run all the time. I used gable fans from home dept instead. 2200CFM.
Car radiator-fans do not spin every second your engine is on, only if the engine gets a little pushed and warm. They are simply not meant for this usage.
Btw, like these setups, but I still like the ghetto 100 GPU 5870 setups better hahaha...
Mine are not passive cooled, simply sapphire r9 280x "dual-x" cards. I have to run the fans at 100% to keep them at ~75c at 1080/1500 I13. I plan on burning the fans out, because they will at 100%, and replacing with watercooling. Lots of the non-ref 280x cards are the same non-ref design, kinda hoping someone comes out with a new block, against all odds.
Nice one, how much watt those cards consume?
Lal, sold my last Asus 7850 DCII and fan of those keep spinning at idle with those coolers, you people did realy not do any research...
Bought a Asus R9 280X DCII, it is huge and the coolest card available..
I wonder how it tasted, or is that that salt stuff that you can't eat?

And now I will finnaly show my retired mining rig:
Specs: 2 Asus Radeon HD7850 DCII V2 @1250 Core, 6000 Mem (Mem doesnt affect my temps of power usage BTW) Each around 400Mh/s/Kh/s so 800 in total. Could be more, I had one card running at 450 Kh/s but I don't want to stress em too much.
hi everyone i have just rebuilt my mining rigs and i will post pics tomorrow i am running the following kit 1 * 60 Ghz BFL SC 1 * old blade 13Ghz 11 * v2 blades 10Ghz i get just over 175 - 182 Ghz
not to bad for a first timer (well theres 3 of us running the system)
what i would love to know is what everyone else is running / Hashpower
Pics or it didn't happen I wish I had such hash rates, but the only thing I can do is dream. Does any of that fancy shit even ROI? I hope so...
Haha I wanted to do the same with a few GPU's but I think the moisture will not do em good. Is is quite an original idea tbh.
Don't worry, water only condense on an object which is colder than air, miners when running are warmer than the surroundings so there will not be condense. My net is to stop insect/flowers/snowflakes from being sucked into the intake of miners, it has large holes (2mm in diameter)
Ah ok, I may run my 800Kh/s for a few days and catch a few bucks, it is a lot colder ouside here now so I can finnaly begin using them as a room heater now! I love the winter...
Nice one. We don't really care about PPS, since you can have 100k+ and still don't mine anything. You need like XPM60/day to cover for the electricity bill. Are you really getting that much ?
It was just variance. Now that they have been running a while, the average is about 20.5 GH/s.
Is it even possible to OC these chicks? Maybe is someone can addres the bus of that thing trough USB and find out the clock speed/regulator... 23Gh and 20.5 is quite an high difference/
This is my first "milk crate" rig, tell me if I screwed anything up. lol Temps are a bit high for my liking, but I have some high CFM 120mm fans on the way that I'm going to mount to the top of the cards for airflow, this should help alot.
That last one is the APU if anyone was wondering.
I find Dual-X coolers to be pieces of shit. I only use Asus. A friend of mine also does mining with a Sapphire Dual-X HD7850 and has like 5 fans pointed at it @100% fan to be like 75 degrees. And the clocks are horrible, 900 core/1250 mem (LTC). I can run 2 asus DCII HD7850's in one normal case at 50% fan and both are 55 degrees, clocks: 1265 Core, 1502 mem (LTC, otherwise mem clocked down )
