The buttcoin clown is almost as prolific as Harold Camping.  There is no reason he should not be held responsible for this.

That's probably not the situation.

Someone could be distributing a trojaned modified client, though.

What's been going on lately is, a modified poclbm was circulated that contains a trojan.  Apparently people fell for its claims of cpu efficiency or whatever.

Please tell more details.  What is the status of your bitcoin client and how do you know a transaction was issued?

Sometimes, for instance, a website may not automatically issue the transaction but add it to some kind of queue for batch processing or manual review.

Philj I agree with you, it's not wise to go into debt over BTC and it wasn't before (but some people got lucky and won.)

Look at mtgox today, though, it's swinging wildly today with lots of volume.  So far today, anyone so inclined has been able to grow btc on mtgox.  Who knows how long these cycles will go on?  You don't need a high price for btc, you can also profit by growing them in the market.

The topic you chose seems to be an answer to the question you've asked.  With your goal in mind, it seems counterproductive to make a statement such as your topic.

They are probably "safe in stone" at two deep.  I haven't seen the block chain split.  Has it before?

I bet you are missing drivers.  If you use something like GPU Caps Viewer you might see that you don't have OpenCL support nor CUDA support.

First, update your NVIDIA drivers to the latest.  Then, make sure you have the computing drivers installed (for CUDA and OpenCL.)

If there is any difference in mining speed it will be negligible.  Apparently the memory on the card is barely used at all when hashing.

I think (and the wiki link confirms) that that card should get more mhash.

Sounds like you might be mining on the cpu and not the gpu.

They seem to show up nearly instantly in my experience, but with 0 confirmations.  Confirmations can take a while.

Is anyone else having trouble, with not finding any blocks at all with the last 2 versions of this miner post 2/1/11?

I've mined for well over 5 or 6 days with nothing and I'm running about 630khash between the 2 cores on my 5970. I'm just using -v -w 128 -f 120........... I haven't found a block in what seems like far too long.

It's only working with low difficulty like testnet or mining pool work.

Sabotaged?
