Looks like you can just put it into a calc and see yourself

10 contracts at 0.0185 each is 0.185 btc
That gives 10gh
Pays 0.0008 btc each day to you

So thats 231 days to break even at current difficulty.   Or $7.40 to earn $0.033 daily per contract  I think it is

Thank you
I knew it would be an easy calc but didn't know where to look for the current difficulty, as I said I have no idea on mining but think I will be spending serious time learning as it really interests me.

As someone who has very limited understanding of mining I was wondering if anyone with more knowledge than me (probably everyone) could give me some idea on the mining contracts cryptsy is currently selling

https://www.cryptsy.com/currencies/view/139

Don't really care $ ROI but more interested in a rough idea of bitcoin ROI
I know it will vary but a really rough guideline would be great

Re: Proof of Stake Coin List

probably a totally dumb question but if I don't ask I'll never know (and probably 100 other newbies that are too afraid to look dumb)

What happens when POS coins are held on an exchange?

The exchange takes the PoS generally. Usually if you believe in a coin you should have it in your wallet anyway. If the coins arent in your wallet you don't really own them, they are like IOU's

Thanks, slowly, slowly I am learning Smiley

Is this coin going to survive?

I have been following for a while and I really liked the idea of supporting charity water but as I don't have much knowledge of mining I'm not really sure on the long term ramifications of the code error on the coin.

One thousand people on this forum would need to have a 1% stake each in a coin to not be called scam here.

so theoretically, if communitycoin is fully distributed as described it could be considered above board or not a scam?

Nope, you dont get it. A 1% stake can only go to 100 people.

hahaha, you got me, late night brain wasn't working Smiley

so no coin can ever be free of the scam tag?

Thanks

"A top altcoin is something that actually brings something new to the table, has dedicated developers who aren't just there to make profit, and isn't controversial"

But do you have any tips on how to tell if a new coin has dedicated developers, without waiting for a few months to see if the devs are still around

As someone fairly new to this forum and seeing so many accusations of scams I am curious what qualities would a new coin need to not be labelled as a potential scam.

Also think that listing good qualities to look for in a coin would definitely be a good thing to be floating around this forum.

Thanks in advance for any input  Smiley

Re: Was this forum always like this?
by

Regarding bloat and spam, the hardest thing is truly differentiating between those who are legitimately excited about a coin (n00bishness and so forth) from those who are deliberately using sockpuppets to promote a coin. Sure it's much easier to differentiate between those who are trolls (or just acting like one) and those who aren't, but most of the bloat that you can find in this section are from those who pose as n00b contributors.

This will be a very newbie-ish question, but can moderators always tell who are using sockpuppets? Or do those who make extra accounts here use different IP addresses?

If most puppets use the same IP, then a little forum moderation is all we need. Is there any particular reason why the forum owners decided to more or less ignore this section completely? If they killed the trolls, put in some rudimentary requirements for IPO announcements and just kept things organized a bit better, I'd think it would help things a lot.

Moderating on IP would create other issues for example my husband, son and myself are all members of this forum and all on the same IP.
I was wondering myself if the forum had always been like this. I do find myself doing a bit of detective work trying to figure out who the genuine people.

I have no stake in this coin as I don't qualify but really like the community and distribution process, hopefully I can get some further down the track.
I have been watching this thread and really enjoying the community spirit and although not a stakeholder I would still love to help promote and improve this coin.
Anyway as a coin for the community I think it would be great if community coin were in some way to support a charity, perhaps one that is aimed at supporting/building communities in need.
There is probably several ways this could be done, for example if I currently had community coin I would be willing to pledge 50% of my POS earnings to a reputable charity, but there are also many other ways community coin donations could be handled.
What does the community think?

Just joined the community coin forum, it looks great.
Even though I don't qualify to get my free stake I really support this idea and the community seems great. I will support in any way I can.

Re: list of coins with devs that use there real names
by
kysejoy
on 01/04/2014, 02:41:07 UTC
I totally get not putting your real name to a coin, I know I wouldn't want the attention in my personal life (either good or bad)
but if you are a member of the community there should be no reason why you don't put your reputation on the line and use your forum name so people can see how active a community member you are, any previous allegations of scams and/or any other coins you are associated with. Creating new identities for each new coin launch just makes them all suspect.
I applaud those who do use their real names and who are proud to stand up for what they believe in
