Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates?

Hey , can someone help me setting up my Vega rigs for xmr mining ?

I had a perfect setup using xmr-stak-amd , with 1407/1100 settings, all cards reg modded etc.

Now with the new XMR-STAK I am facing following problem - all shares are rejected by the pool, when using these settings even with a single thread. Pressing R shows low difficulty share errors , wtf?

Oddly enough, I am getting all good results using the ETH settings I am using - 875 core / 1100 memory. Hashrate is significantly lower of course.

Any idea how to set this up right?

what are you mining?  Have you updated your miner?  Few cryptonight coins have forked out to different variants of cryptonight algos

I just tried it on XMR . Using self compiled 2.3.1 xmr stak. Also tried the precompiled  nanopool 2.4.1 version - same result.
I have zero xp with this version of the  miner, like I said - I've been using the old xmr-stak-amd with bc drivers ever since I have the rigs (already 7 months).

So what can be wrong here? What are the optimal settings with this new miner?

Can anyone send me stable core/memory setting for Vega 64 with Blockchain drivers?
All cards are registry modded.  I can produce ~44 MH/s, but the heath is too high. Need something working at lower rates (around 40), that is not producing that much heath.

guys, which models of power supplies are you using for powering 8 cards on this board? Need to buy power supplies that need no additional cable extenders or splitters to power on rx580

Guys, I bought two of these boards, but after reading all that I want to ask - what CPU should I buy? Skylake G3900 or Kaby Lake G3930. Or it makes no difference?

Motherboards supporting 8 GPU's and power supplies
by

on 10/01/2018, 01:33:08 UTC
Hi guys,
I appologize for the question that has been answered probably 1000 times, but after reading for hours, I got nowhere .

I want to build an 8 card rig with RX580s. The cards that I have ordered are GB Aorus RX580 8 gigs.

What are the current best choices for motherboards, that are 90% likely to work with 8 cards? I've seen ppl complaining about all kind of issues with cards not being recognized.
Also - what is the proper power supply + riser combination that I would need? I know that I need 2x 750W or maybe 2x 850W, but which are the exact models that you are using, as its kinda tricky with the pci-e cables that come with the power supplies and I don't really want to mess that up.

So I basicly need:

1) suggestions for motherboards supporting 8 cards (maybe with M2 adapters)
2) power supplies that have enough cables to power on 4 RX580 GB Aorus  each.

Thanks in advance!
Wbr,

I have a strange problem - the GUI wallet cannot open a wallet, that was created by the CLI. It worked one time, and after that - not possible. Any workarounds??

Also, I have another issue. I had 71.00 in the account. Transfered 1.00 to another wallet (wanted to test how that works), and the outcome:

[wallet iz5wKc]: balance
2017-Dec-28 19:25:55.287384 INFO    available balance: 1.00000000, locked amount: 68.99900000
[wallet iz5wKc]:

Is it supposed to be working like this?

[wallet iz5wKc]: transfer 1 iz*** 1.00

this was the command I used. the 1.00 arrived in the other wallet, but the 68.99 are still locked.

I dont know how you got 1900h with only 925mhz on the memory.   GPU core sure doesnt matter as much but I find if I adjust memory speed at all it brings down the hash speed right away, I stay as close to 1105mhz as possible, anything below 1050mhz will definetly show.
I do think its possible to run the top speeds even at 900mv if the temps are all below 70c.   I use a cold air intake from a window, its winter now so its not hard when temps are 5c outside ?

The latest AMD driver release  allows swapping of config files apparently, saved defaults for various protocols sounds possible.  However they dont switch to compute priority for every type of hashing, havent fully tried yet

Any UK users have got this and using the AMD VEGA cards?

Mind sharing the price and source to get them, I've been trying really hard to get the RX 580 from past 3 months but no luck, any help from UK users would be much appreciated.

Hope I get some answers, thanks.

You are a bit late to the party.  The best deals was on release.   We are in transition now hence the lack of stock.   I suggest you look at overclockers.co.uk and join the forums and look out for deals, not that I know of any forthcoming like I said

1100 core with 1025 memory, both at 875mV (set with wattman, or overdriventool) on blockchain driver definitely works on vega 64 with no mods , and yields over 1900 H/s at low consumption. And is stable.
So there is still room for exploration here.

Does anyone have overheating problems with RX Vega 64? Mine keeps exceeding 85°C and crashes whole rig. I have 2x Radeon version of graphic card and both have problems with overheating.

I raised vent speed to almost 100% and lowered power usage, lowered max temp. still the same. Card for that much money shoudn't have so basic problems...

If you do registry mods you should not have such problem. At least not to such extremes ...

I am pretty sure that this is the card that is making the trouble here. HBM2 on it is like 12-14C hotter than the core, unlike any other cards I have where the difference is smaller ...

Any idea how to fight it? Its already undervolted, and fans are running quite high. Current room temp is around 18C, so can't really improve much on that front.

Would any additional fans do any good? Like case fans from both sides blowing into it or something?
Any other ideas?

Immposible settings come truth Smiley after 10 days tweaking i find this option Wink

thank you for great information!
I've done to follow instruction but somehow when I disable/enable Vega56 on device manager 1 of 2 got exclamation mark when it's enabled and isn't detected when mining.

I clean installed Win10 64, AMD Blockchain driver "Only" is installed manually, Set "0" to both EnableElps, EnableCrossFireAutoLink. and followed rest of instruction... Huh

a restart fixes it. this happens before the disable/enable, the card just has not loaded the driver properly at startup, thats the problem.

has anyone encountered gpu compute errors for any of these reasons:

1) Too low memory voltage (like 900-925)  on a vega
2) Vega 64 not handling 1100 mem overclock properly?

I am getting lost already, can't really find the sourse of the problem. Even at under 50C, I still get errors - probably on a single card, but cannot determine which one Sad

I am using 2x Corsair RM1000X on both of mine 6 vega rigs.

Nothing special about how to manage the cables - PSU 1 powers CPU, 2 molex to the MOBO, 3 Vega and 3 different Sata cables to the v007 risers. PSU2 - powers 3 VEGA, 3 Risers (SATA) and the SSD.
The good thing about the corsairs is, that the PSU comes with 4x 8pin+ 6+2 pin cables, so if you wish you can power 4 vega cards without any extenders.
How long are you running those rigs?
What's the total wattage of your rig?

The first one - since ~15.09. The second is fresh. Drawing around 1100W from the wall last I checked.

@rednow, what are the default values with your mod? Can you share an overdriventool screenshot too Smiley ?
My reg-file mod is based on vega54 liquid bios.
Only changes are to set "greyed" low power state voltages to 900mV (905 or 910 if you are a silicon lottery loser) and increase SoC clock to 1200.
All other settings are done in OverdriveNtool as I wrote before.
I didn't touch gpu or mem clocks in power play at all.

thanks.

Do you happen to know whats the difference between these two bios versions? :

Sapphire    RX Vega 64 8 GB    2017-07-19 16:44:00    016.001.001.000.008706    PCI-E    1630 / 945    HBM2    Download | Details
Sapphire    RX Vega 64 8 GB    2017-07-28 15:57:00    016.001.001.000.008730    PCI-E    1630 / 945    HBM2    Download | Details

P.S. Wondering if I picked the proper bios when upgrading the two 56s ... after reducing mem to 1080 on all 3 56s, I still get ~10 GPU compute errors per hour Sad
