The forum doesn't seem to be very active.

  • Have you tried putting the [same exact] card in a different computer and see if it has the same issue?
  • Have you tried using a different network, switching to wifi if on lan, or switching to lan if on wifi?
Nope, and nope... but considering I've tried everything else I can think of, why not?
Thx

Don't centralize a de-centralized currency. Keep your bitcoins in your own wallet. If people spread out to different exchanges this would stabilize everything.
What are the alternatives?  Which exchanges are the real competitors to Mtgox?

Clearly, lag is a huge problem and so they offer free trades as a gesture of good will for lagging trading ...what are they thinking?

Is there nothing that can be done about this?
Seriously.  Ddos, stupid small bot orders, a system that doesn't work at Mtgox.
Nothing?
Is it on it's way to being fixed, or is it doomed to being manipulated like this by network attacks, forever?
Seriously.

I'm surprised there are no answers to this issue.
I also have this problem.
Is it my miner?
Is it my settings?
Is is it the pool I'm using?
Other?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: New poclbm GUI Miner Mac .app

I'm a little torn over what do with my mining rig and MBP.  Bitcoins come in so slow now but they are quickly rising in value, so every little bit still counts.  But, I'm thinking it might be a good idea to own some "also-ran" coins, just in case others do even better over time as they play catch-up with bitcoin.
Litecoin is the current second and I'm thinking that Freicoin is so different and appealing to some very-true-believers that it might do something crazy one day and right now I can mine a ton of coins.

Thx for the quick reply.
I'm trying to mine some litecoin using coinotron.  I used mine bitcoin using slush's pool, but the difficulty is just too high for bitcoin.  Slush's pool works fine, therefore my issue must be with litecoin and/or coinotron.
Again, thx for the very easy to understand help. I think I got it, now.

And I should and a third issue: the work doesn't show in the pool, coinotron.  Shares are being accepted, and my rate is showing 66 Mhash/s.

Again, thx for your efforts.

Thx for doing this, but I'm having some trouble with it.
1) I can't change settings
2) It will not quit

I'm running a Macbook Pro 2.2 i7 with an AMD Radeon HD 6750M, OS X 8.3

My question... is there an undated version? The one I have is dated v2012 -11-18.

i haven't been watching bitcoin for two months... why the crash?  is there a simple reason? ...like another security problem at mtgox?
or is it simply a supply dump?

As new people discover bitcoin as an investment, they'll each make a choice... buy bitcoins, or mine bitcoins.  So it goes, the more difficult they are to mine, the more attractive they are as simple buy option.

I use slush, and I've only been on it for four weeks.  I've seen three difficulty increases but my rate of coin attainment has stayed steady.  Is this because the slush pool grows as the overall hashes grow? and therefore the overall slush take improves or maintains?

Re: GUI mining - updated host address for slush's pool

My miner keeps stopping.  Could this be because I have my overclocking too high? the memory clock too low? [300], the speed too high [950]? or does this have nothing to do with it, since my computer and graphics card keep on running even after the miner stops [gpu- Sapphire HD 5830]??
The miner is saying, it can't connect to slush?... but for 8 hours??? it seems unlikely to me and that's why I suspect the overclocking? I've tweaked the memory up to 350 and the speed down to 940, but will this solve anything?
thx

download sapphire trixx. underclock memory to 300 and start working your way up on the core clock.. start at 900.. if it crashes drop 15 if not go up 15 more. i have a dew of these cards.. one is stable at 985 the other 1015 maybe even more i havnt pushed it farther. windows guiminer -v -w256 -f1   sould get you in 300 Mhash ballpark,  -f1 will make your desktop lag a little so i turn that off if i need from time to time(remove setting stop miner and restart)
OK, so this was super helpful.  thx

I ended up using your flag, setting the memory to 300, and pushing the clock up till it crashed at 960.  I then backed it off to 950 and it ran for a while at about 275-285 Mhashes (fluctuating wildly).  This stopped the miner after about an hour, so I backed off the clock to 945.  It is now getting now bouncing from 280 to 283 Mhashes.
Is this good? Should I tweak about the memory up or down some?

thx

It has been addressed, many times before.

But I'm a nice guy, so instead of "lawl l2google nub" I'm going to reply like a non-sociopath:

Play with your flags. -v -w128 agression=11 works nicely for me, you might get better or worse with different values of w (must be powers of 2, w64, w128, w256 are valid, w100 is not)
Over/under clock your GPU. Get MSI Afterburner, bump core up to something like 975, bump memory down... as low as it'll go without crashing really.
OK, so the flag you gave me worked [it's now doing 245 Mhash], but Afterburner doesn't let me set the core to 975, or the memory anything lower than 908.
Any ideas?
