Re: What is the biggest problem in crypto currencies?
by

Having bitcoin being deflationary was probably the right decision. That is one key that has made bitcoin a huge success because it keeps the value of bitcoin up and likely increasing over time.

I am not sure this is a plus. If the value of Bitcoin keeps going up, almost by-design and de-facto, then everyone holds and nobody uses Bitcoin to buy things. Then Bitcoin is only a means of speculation and not a currency, and I am not sure that is a huge success.

It is a plus because if I make a decision to invest my BTC in an entrepreneurial undertaking, I have to be convinced that I'm making a sound, profitable decision. If my business or investment won't pay off more than just holding BTC, then I hold. "Hard money" incentivizes better decision making, which is the opposite of the effect caused by easy money / credit expansion which encourages me to just throw money at projects that might not be sustainable (buying a house I can't afford, opening stupid businesses, consuming too much, etc).

Biggest problem: 51% attack by an entity wishing to destroy Bitcoin. But I am paranoid.

meh, I'm more interested in block chain backed wedding licenses... not that I'd convince my gf to accept either of these ideas.

It looks like ZeroCoin(ZERO) is THIS coin and Zerocoin(old) is the actual zerocoin.org project.

From Zerocoin.org:

Quote
there’s a big difference between research software, and a working release grade client we can stand behind. Our goal is to release this code in a production-quality form that the community can use to stand up a real, functioning currency. We will be providing further updates on this site.

The developers of the real Zerocoin project don't believe that the Zerocoin code is ready for production use... why would anyone trust this coin?

Working on an article about Viacoin now and I'm really into it. If anything, the goals of this project are very important. Everything else looks to be above board too, but only time will tell.

Thanks btcdrak. Viacoin is gonna give us a look into the future of cryptocurrencies. I am ready for software to live on the blockchain.

Re: How To Identify PoW Schedules

Go to the coin's github repository. Go to the file src/main.cpp. In Litecoin's case, this page.

Great answer. Use the source...

When I have a little extra time, I'll try to find the equivalent lines of code in some coins that don't share the Bitcoin code base.

There might be a site that aggregates that kind of data, but I'd think you need to install the client for whichever coins your interested, or see if they have an online block explorer. Just look at what block the coin is on and what block it is supposed to switch to PoS, or whatever you're interested... reward halving, etc.

Just wanna say that I've been working with Tk on Coins Source content and the whole project is really legit. It's good to be involved in something that has real value and I'm looking forward to seeing the integration of Coins Source and SRCC.

I wanna thank TheMightyX for a great conversation and interview for Coins Source. The interview is definitely worth checking out for anyone that is interested in PreminePlus: http://www.coinssource.com/premineplus-interview-giveaway-going-on-now/

Thanks! After talking with TMX for awhile, I've got no doubt that this coin is legit and should be around for awhile.
