This is a very good, but as you said will require a lot of work, seems like a good portion of BTC's code would need to be rewritten. I'd say we're better off just letting BTC croak and eventually once the damage that is caused to public image has faded, transitioning to a better alt will be in the best interest of the whole cryptocurrency community.

Appreciate the replies so far guys. As far as contacting the seller, it really is not his fault. I did buy a 12V 30A psu with it and it did not come with wires, so I stripped a regular old power cord and it was my fault that I reversed the lead and negative wires going to the PSU.

I believe the reason those caps blew is because they caught on fire because they were closest to the dc jack that pretty much spat fire.

unless someone can find a schematic, I'm thinking it's pretty much near impossible to figure out what these dudes are, as there are no markings. Def look like surface mount capacitors from the research I've done, however I wouldn't have any idea what uF

Dude, just remove them and make a xunt, then try it  Cheesy

Could you explain what an xunt is? Never heard the term before, tried googling it but no luck

Blew up my Gridseed, Anyone help me identify SMD capacitor or resistor?

Hey guys, forgive me if I am not posting in the right forum. I recently got a gridseed miner and stupidly had my lead and negative wires swapped on my psu, even more stupid I did not check with a multimeter first and plugged it straight into the gridseed. Needless to say there was quite a big spark.

Surprisingly the unit still powers on, is detected via usb, and even displays normal Kh/s, however it doesn't accept any shares. After opening it up I found I had fried two of what appear to be smd capacitors, but everything else looks OK.

Here is an image with the capacitors (or resistors maybe?) in question. If anyone is able to help me identify these so I can attempt to solder on new ones, it would be greatly appreciated and I am willingly to donate a small amount of btc or ltc for the effort. There is no markings on these, so from the research I've done I assumed they were capacitors. http://i.imgur.com/AagZtd2.jpg

I'm excited about the future of this coin and think it will do well. For those who do not have a lot of CPU power laying around, I suggest signing up for the free trial at windowsazure.com from here you can make two 8 core virtual machines and one 4 core VM. The trial allows for $200 in credit which looks like about a week of free mining on 20 cores. I'm getting about 250kh/s combined from these 3 VMs running on the 1gh.com pool

I'd like to thank this coin and the developers for what it has taught me about new coin launches. Being the first coin I planned to mine at launch, I should have done my homework on how to solo mine. I was able to get solomining going but not quite before the first pool came up.

That being said I feel the only problem with this launch was the lack of pools. Scrypt-jane was easy enough to get figured out, all I had to do was add the sj parameters to my config file and delete the regular scrypt ones.

I plan on mining this coin until at least the 7th and see what happens when it hits crypto-trade. This coin really does have one of the best backbones I've seen so far, and I hope it will make us all rich. Don't sell your UTC now and lose out on striking it rich!

Well I wish the client would tell me the block I found was orphaned. Only evidence of it even being found is the wallet reads "Number of transactions: 1", however there is no transaction history.

I just hit a block, my miner shows accepted shares, and I saw the incoming transaction bubble pop up in the client. But after ~20 mins there is still no transaction history?!? Will it show up??

But seriously guys I don't think the site gives a shit about the 3 bitcoins I "stole" from them. I don't even know if it was the receiving end's error, it could have been the site I was sending from (yet I would hope that site would not act in such a way, being widely used). I'm pretty sure if any of you found this you wouldn't have posted it on this forum period. I was just curious to know if anyone had encountered such a transaction error before.

Yes I have. I double clicked on a withdraw function, and was paid twice. I tested it with a smaller amount, and clicked on the button as many times as I could. I was sent 15 or 16 of the same amount, and for both instances my account was only debited the original transaction. I informed the site owner, and asked where I could send the coins back to and how to reproduce the result. He took the coins back and I wasn't awarded for it, and I'd do it again. But that's just me. My dad taught me that honesty isn't doing the right then when someone's watching, but doing the right thing when no one's there to watch you. Crypto currency makes it really easy for the eyes not to be on you.

I guess I could still report error, or even better, I could gamble back away the 3 btc I "stole" from the casino.

Say this site is a roulette wheel and you bet the 3 coins on 00 and win. You going to keep betting until you lose the 3 and anything from it? The right thing to do is contact the site and let them know about the issue and return the coins. That's the right thing. But may not be part of your moral fabric.

You guys are right. I did contact the site admin.I do hope the website gets the problem resolved, or if it wasn't the fault of the casino site then I really cannot say how it happened, either way I'm sure they won't mind me keeping the 3 btc.

What a stand up guy. Remind me to never do business with you.

I withdrew the coins right away and the transaction did in fact go through, I made 5x my initial small amount out of nothing. I'm going to see if the site is still doing the same thing. If it is I'll make my fortune then let you guys know the name :p

"Fuck you, got mine" or what.
Good to know that. I will never make any dealings with you

yeah unfortunately lechango you will have to burn your forum account with 2 posts in it and start all the way back at square one.

i know it will be a tough road ahead, rebuilding trust all over again and getting your post count all the way back up to 2.

Exactly. Oh shit this makes post number 3, no turning back now.

edit: no luck today. Really must have been a fluke, too bad I wasn't dealing with 100s of bitcoins at the time :/

So I just witnessed a withdrawal from one site be declined for insufficient funds multiple times, I believe the amount it stated I had was rounded up and I was trying to send that rounded up amount. Anyway, when I went to check the site I sent it to (a BTC casino, I will not disclose the name for now), ALL of the "insufficient funds" transactions also went through! Unfortunately I was not dealing with a very large amount, but it still resulted in free coins.

Has anyone ever heard of this or encountered something similar? I'm thinking it must have been a bug on the casino site's end, but I don't see how the funds were ever confirmed sent in the first place?
