Re: Cashing out of large amount of bitcoins

I don't have $10,000,000 worth of bitcoins.  But given the 5-year trend in prices, I anticipate having that much in a year or less.  Of course, if we get a bear market, I won't have that much.  May have to wait a year or two longer than anticipated.  I'm just trying to plan for the future.  I don't see an easy way to cash out.

How did I get so many?  I make a very good salary, save every penny, and go "all-in" on investments when I believe there's good value.   I did that with BTCs.

Believe it or not, I've lost a lot more in bitcoins than I actually own.

Just a question - how did you get $10,000,000 worth of bitcoins in the first place?
Please don't tell me you were the guy on the other end of the 10,000 Bitcoin pizza. >.>

And holy cow, good luck on taxes.
So did you cash out 10M worth of BTC in 2014?   How much would that be worth today?   Huh Shocked

Anyone know why the Windows wallet keeps getting blocked by Malwarbytes, is there a work around for this?

are you using this one https://bitcoingold.org/#features?

https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/53e01dd7366e87fb920645b29541f8487f6f9eec233cbb43032c60c0398fc9fa/detection
Yep that is the one.

Why would they release a wallet without first checking its virus status.   Dumb.

Re: Where should you start learning bitcoin as a beginner?

I just contacted bitcoin soon, many terms are still learning stage, want to ask you from where to start learning better? Tongue Tongue
Before learning about Bitcoin you should first learn about the dangers of using Crypto Currencies.

I would suggest you learn about the following -

Wallets
- How to secure them and back them up and set a pass-phrase
Security - Be aware of phishing sites, have Malwarbytes, Anti Virus, Spybot search and destroy and learn about key loggers
Scams - Visit sites like http://binaryscamwatchmonitor.com/ and www.badbitcoin.com to familiarize yourself with some methods scammers use
VPN - Use a VPN service so that no one can find your real IP
Offers or deals to turn Bitcoin into quick money  - If it seems to good to be true it probably is
Scam ICO's - There are thousands of them  - Learn how to spot them and read the ANN threads first before investing, if there is anything fishy about them most here will point it out.
Private keys - Learn what they are and why they are named private keys
Offline vs Online storage of Coins, learn the pros and the cons (Hot wallets vs Cold wallets)
Invest in a Encrypted thumb drive  -  I use Integral they are good it will erase the contents after 6 failed login attempts - Keep all of your passwords and backed up wallet.dat fles there
Never trust anyone on this forum or any other Crypto medium, especially if they initiate personal contact with you
Be aware of potential identity theft when providing exchanges with your personal information  - Check how big they are and how they are rated
Lastly remember Crypto has no morals or central authority, so if you lose money or are scammed it is because you allowed yourself to be put in that position and you will never recover lost funds.

Best of luck!

Anti Virus + Malwarebytes + Spybot search and destroy.

Encrypted Thumbdrive with all passwords stored offline

Ledger Nano S for Bitcoin and some others

Wallet.dat files saved and backed up on encrypted drive.

Most wallets with coins kept in offline PC, except staking wallets but I ensure I back up those every 3 days with and have a very strong password and only unlocked for staking.

As others have said never click on .exe files that you do not know the source of and don't trust any link sent from an email even if sent from a friend or family.

Identifying these coins with great potentials is quite difficult since these coins all have fair shares. They may go up or they may go down but if i can only choose two out from the choices, i would probably pic Monero and ZCash.
They are the two that I mine and hold.

I am afraid that there is a lot of dumb money in crypto and people who want to get rich overnight. I know of people who sold their bitcoins to buy bitcoin cash at staggering price of 1600USD. I pity them.
I have no pity for them, pure greed rather than doing what most of us knew was the right thing and sticking with Bitcoin.

Monero has the best potential in all of coins listed on your poll. Stable and slowly rising it's price and will compete with larger coins in the market.
Would be good if XMR brought out a lite wallet rather than needing to download the whole chain.  Or is there one now already?

Of course Media helps a lot too.
Yes they do and one of the biggest culprits was coindesk.com

They have a lot to answer for, it wouldn't surprise me if they were offered money to pump BCH and FUD Bitcoin, they could not produce new articles of FUD about Bitcoin fast enough, all over social media.

Anyone know who owns Coindesk?

BTC might be the real thing, but some people are getting frustrated that it is becoming so centralized in the hands of a few miners. If BTC can ever remove mining from the equation and have transactions in the micro-seconds than it will really take off. Until then it will go up in value but never replace Visa/Mastercard.
You do know that without the miners there would be no BTC right?

And of course it is never going to be as fast as Visa or Mastercard, but the difference being both of those are centralized, controlled by corporations, can be reversed and offer zero privacy and you cannot make money from them, I know which one I would prefer.

ROFL, remind me not to trust to votes in this forum Wink

anyway i think KMD is the best because of zero knowledge + jumblr

Problem with KMD is their marketing is shocking, the last video presentation that I saw was so amateurish it was cringe-worthy and saw the price drop by 80C from memory.
I was invested with them but not anymore.

If anything they are the poor mans privacy coin, that is about it's main feature the fact that it is the cheapest of them all.

Zcash for me is number 1, as an investment it is growing and growing and is even profitable to mine now at it's current price.
