I have the same problem. I have disable my firewall in windows, open my ports in the router, a static IP4 address. But if I start my masternode is the same error displayed:
"Not capable masternode: Can't detect valid external address. Please consider using the externalip configuration option if problem persists. Make sure to use IPv4 address only."
I do not understand why it should be a security problem to run the MN on the desktop at home. if you rent a server the coins somewhere in the world on a computer, since can also happen a lot ...

I added
externalip=x.y.z.a
to the vivo.conf file and then it worked, maybe this will help you too
But now I got a different problem:
Overnight my IP changed and I wanted to restart the masternode but I couldn't because of that. What I did is: I generated a new masternodekey, transfered the collateral to the new address and wanted to restart everything with the new IP, I even initialized all the *.dat files (apart from wallet.dat). But now I get either your error above or this when specifying the new IP using externalip: Not capable masternode: Mastenode not in masternode list. How to solve this? (Of course its not in the list, its a new one! but yeserday it worked

It's impossible as far as I know. You must have 2 separate dedicated IPs

I always keep it opened to stake it. You can open it ones a month and get you staking reward? Strange, never heard of it.
No there is no need to keep it open 24/7. Keeping it open 24/7 the wallet will produce many tiny fractions, you help stabilizing the network, 24/7. But you can also send all your coins to one address in your wallet, then switch it off and sync after 1 wekk, 1 month, what ever timeframe you choose. Wait until your coins staked! You will still earn 6% on your amount per year.
If you've got 1000 Cloak in your wallet open 24/7 you will earn about 5 Cloak in many tiny fractions, if you stake 1000 Cloak (sent as 1 amount to an address) after 4 weeks, you'll get about 5 Cloak at once.
Mature time for CLOAK is 3h, there is no maximum age for the coins!

1) Bitcoin's issues around first August are simply that, Bitcoin's issues, not CLOAK's. Just because we are in the BTC market doesn't mean any changes will be needed to be made to CLOAK. The Dev team has very little to do with Bitcoin's issues or the BTC Market.
2) I expect the troll volume to INCREASE until the end of August. You have just proven me right. That was easy...
3) If you are going to make a prediction, at least try to make an accurate one. This is crap. Stop being a troll and get a life!
4) I expect the price of CLOAK to rise throughout August, as long as nothing totally unexpected happens to the BTC Market, which CLOAK Devs have no influence over.
