Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear?
by

on 22/02/2016, 14:07:42 UTC
There was nothing said about btc and banks working together. Hopefully they never do, not that it needs much hope because they never will.
A decentralized btc is not something banks are going to even attempt to work with and it would be worse for both not better. As long as it becomes even more widely accepted banks are not needed but they have nothing to fear from btc and they will never disappear unless forced to.

I believe that, sadly, Bitcoin is still difficult for the average of population, it has a bad reputation.

Although you can motivate them by telling the benefit of the Bitcoin as it is a future e-currency. You can show them how the exchange takes place from bitcoin to real currency.

I believe terrorist use more fiat then bitcoin, because bitcoin has flutuation and well they cant loose money on the operation, but i believe that todays is hard to loose bitcoin as it looks stable at 440 dollars... but well they would need to show id to buy a large ammount of bitcoins at exchanges that are regulated, soo some use fiat others use crypto, but i doubt the most dark business knows bitcoin...

Re: Bernie Sanders will use bitcoin for economic growth?

I have come to accept that the world we live in (at least for as long as I live) will always be under control of the democratic/republican mindset... I would honestly love to live in a "Utopian" world where we use science to govern economics and political decisions amongst everyone on the planet.

As of right now, yes, Bernie is the more likely president to maybe use bitcoin to outsource the banks... but it'll be a tough sale.  Plus, I'm pretty sure if Bernie does try to pull something like this off, he will get assassinated by the powers that be, and covered up as some "gun toting looney" too cause even more divide amongst the public and achieve what the powers that be want; control of the power that they've already acquired.

Re: What do you wish you could buy with btc ?

I wish I could buy itunes music but away from apple under a new system then itunes. Do not support the strangle hold they have on the industry. Would also like to have the option to be able to buy groceries and have them delivered at a fix time through bitcoin.  Sometimes I hit the grocery store for 10 or less items and waste a lot of time waiting in line and then getting out of the parking lot. Add on the 10 minute drive there and you are talking about a hour roughly of the day killed to buy a few items.

Great video and great news! I didn't get future development or Google implementation from that just some admiration which is great but far from Bitcoin taking over Google in the Play Store... With Bitcoin one never knows, I still feel there are a lot of negative issues surrounding it and it needs a lot of good vibes if it truly wants another chance to go mainstream.

The "transaction" which contains the input data for a script, can be set by any external entity. How do you propose to require that the bits & bytes of that input data declares its dependencies when it is impossible to force the external entity to declare where the data came from? You seem to not understand some basic facts about modularity and type systems in programming. Even if you could force the external entity to declare the full lineage of the input data (i.e. 100% dependently typed), that would require that the scripting can't be programmable, i.e. the external I/O capability would be eliminated...

Re: What do you do with your idle coins?
by

I don't think they're idle... There's a part of it that I just leave them in my hardware wallet. About 40% of it I invest in loans and this type of thing. Helps keep balanced the risk versus the profits I can make from those values. But I'm waiting on price increase, so it's earning money even just sitting there!

For members of this particular forum particularly ones with good status and membership status signature campaign is the most decent, You can actually earn 0.1-0.30 easily, Other than that faucets pay too little, If you can code, design or translate or any other skill then you probably can get even more.

Personally I really feel Bitcoin is going to need porn in its entirety. We'll need to rethink this, I believe. What you can expect from bitcoin? Spend it online? And where you can spend it? Absolutely porn sites are a promising field! A lot of people spend thousands dollars for porn  , and you could imagine many people buying bitcoin and spend it massively, what do you think will happened later? Yeahhhh rocketed price!  Grin

Hey, if visitors are coming to your site and finding 0 satoshis available, you're wasting every cent you spend on advertising it. You're literally burning money, since people would never come back to your site and waste their time there.

I really don't understand why using the same wallet, going through all this boring importing thing (which is also risky cause someone could have accest you your private keys).

Just use 2 or more wallets, and, when and if you need it, just send coins to and from one another...

That way you dilute the risk and don't have to worry about compatibility issues.

No, Bitcoin is not in trouble, not in this way.

What is in trouble though is the already collapsing fiat system all over the world...

Dollar is done and they know it, so they want to stop Bitcoin because people will naturally flock into it like desperate fish trying to reach water, so they want people to be scared of it, that's why they will use whatever incident to push an anti Bitcoin agenda, and we must be ready, beginning with intercepting power grab hard forks like Bitcoin Classic and rejecting them.

Re: Bitcoin used to do money laundering - will it become a huge problem?
by

on 18/02/2016, 16:00:23 UTC
I believe the only problem that this will create and has to some degree is the fact that the government will jump in and start trying to control Bitcoin.

There are already tons of regulations on exchange sites that make buying Bitcoin with FIAT or vice versa hard to do.

So, Bitcoin is currently used to launder money and always will, but the affect will not be on Bitcoin itself, but on the structure of exchanges and the future of how it is used...

Re: paypal or bitcoin?
by
lostintranslation
on 18/02/2016, 12:35:07 UTC
Well, I personally would much prefer to be able to use Bitcoin for all online purchases for example eBay and Amazon, Paypal annoys me because i have had my account stopped multiple times for no apparent reason, also transferring any amount of money can take up to 72hours from paypal to bank and paypal holds your money as a new seller... By simply opening a new account and depositing a few hundred pound, surly paypal should not be allowed to block an account and say they are "investigating" ....seems like a way just to hold your money so they can gain on interest possibly ?  The only benefit with paypal is the buyer protection, however i have used this multiple times and paypal never helped, i think the entire paypal service is quite glitchy and obscured.

IMHO what would really help Bitcoin would be for people to sell items on-line, and to accept Bitcoin in payment. This would help to expand the use of Bitcoin.

I've had a couple of attempts at this, but so far I haven't had any buyers.  Embarrassed

Personally I enjoy my bitcoin Trezor and use it to store about 10 BTC, the rest is stored offline in paper wallets. Also have some in my phone as well.
Thing is to keep small amounts in many places to reduce chances of anything to happen, at least to a consistent part of your capital.

Well, I have Bitcoins because i prefer this crypto currency than the other currencies and fiat as well and i think it's better even than many altcoins used by a part of crypto's community.

What is FOMO btw?
