I'm a stakeholder and am ready to send some as well.  And I have NOT sold nor intend to in the near future.

You want to raise some dev funds for this?

PRE SELL some Assets, IE Vorpal Swords (whatever these are..) Shield of NX, AE Armor, for example.

Say you make a whole set of 1000NXT armor and items,  these items would have a value of 1500NXT once the game starts. Pre investors could put theirs up for sale, and therefore individual investors could make a profit and help the game get started

EDIT

Presales are a good idea.
I was tempted to prebuy a package for ESO, but didn't have the cash.
But sell they did!

Eve has a few unique ships that are worth thousands in fiat. (unless they get blown up  Wink )

yeah I played some D&D in the 80s but once we started we kind of left the modules and DM guides alone and just rolled our char sheets on graph paper and made up monsters to fight.

How about this - a WOW type of game in which weapons are forged in limited supply (and controlled by their very own block chain!)  those weapons gain power with use and time thus increasing in value and can be sold and traded in the game?
_________________________________________________________________________

I can't immediately grok the game balance implications, but on its face it's a brilliant idea. RND would determine if a block would forge coins, a weapon, a spellbook...

How many 'variants' can (should) be forged in a block? Would tx fee in the block affect the RND or what was forged? What's the game logic behind an item gaining power with use? (most mechanics use durability, which isn't quite the opposite of what you're talking about, but close).
At what point do I/we/the voices in my head move this off-thread and over to a nxtopia web forum?

_______________________________________________________________________

Been thinking about this more and I came to the same investor/player idea, but a little differently.  The source of weapons and accessories could be investors who put, for example, 10 nxt into the blockchain to make a basic sword. Game play would be free and a new user would get this sword for free - as this sword attains higher levels of power it gains in value and can then be traded (all game items that can be traded are items in the blockchain) - but it is forever linked to the initial investor who gets 10% of all future trades of the item.  It would be enforced by the blockchain itself.  Win for the player - free game and can make money, Win for the investor, win for the developer as they could be among the earliest investor - and the "premine" idea is a good one too I think to get the initial funds going.

Damn, a game would be cool. Maybe I could help? I have some ideas Smiley

Panda, we need your voice and as many as we can possibly manage. Gamer's know the challenges of balance, and ultimately, what's FUN.

And for the Nxt ecosystem, game mechanics that will ding the pleasure/reward center of the brain to encourage LOTS of transactions. Cheesy

There's http://nxtopia.wordpress.com, and I also reserved nxtopia@gmail.com and @nxtopia. I'm not beholden to the name, even as a working development title. But if we agree to use it (even short- to mid-term), I can register nxtopia.com.

And I decided to put 10% of my account balance (800 NXT) in with James' 5000 NXT bounty. I started playing the first D&D supplement in 1976 (age 7!) and haven't been the same since. Bringing this to fruition is beyond anything I could've hoped for as a 7 year old dice hoarder. Smiley
The idea is very good, although I would call NXTropia.
I would like to know more about how it would play, concepts or something.

Re: Zerocoin protocol being developed on top of NXT?
by
lovebit
on 10/02/2014, 16:34:57 UTC
I heard on Lets Talk Bitcoin a few nights ago that the Zerocoin protocol is being developed for NXT.  Does this mean that NXT is developing a Zercoin-like protocol or have the Zerocoin developers decided to build on top of NXT?  Are the developers working together?

Neither.  A few people (including jl777) are interested in developing NXTcash, which is an implementation of Zerocoin ON TOP OF Nxt.  To date, the Zerocoin folks have not responded to overtures from these Nxt folks -- but the Zerocoin library is open-source and so they're moving ahead with it anyway.

You will hear more and more about people building things on top of Nxt.  Think of Nxt as a low-layer protocol.  Everything built on top of it is independent.  Like Nxt itself, nothing is "official" or "centralized".

The fact that Nxt can support such a diversity of applications and uses, supported by a lightweight PoS blockchain, is part of its appeal.

Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I'm a stakeholder of 100k.  No intention of selling soon.  Also mining what I can.

Also a stakeholder of 20K - no intention of selling either soon either - and when I do it will be in small doses - why dump? - thats just shooting yourself in the foot.

So how many of the "I won't dump" guys sold their coins at 10x the price they paid for them?  Cheesy

Anyway, I'm up 400 coins and 0.15 BTC and I didn't send in much. The action was entirely predictable. Now I'll hodl and see what happens in the coming days and weeks.

I've not sold any of mine - not for a long time

guys dont sell cheap .... stop sell ... best price is 100 utc = 0.1 btc ...

when add UTC to https://crypto-trade.com/ ... when ?   today is 6 feb

+1

Hold your coins, don't drop below this price for a while - and when you do sale, do it in small amounts over a period of time to keep from crashing the market.

Thats the smart way of doing it.

Is there a problem with crypto-trade's web site? I can't enter it.
Anybody experiencing the same thing?

works fine...
Thanks. I'm constantly getting the following error as if my internet was gone(which has not):

"Unable to access the network

Google Chrome is having trouble accessing the network.

This may be because your firewall or antivirus software wrongly thinks Google Chrome is an intruder on your computer and is blocking it from connecting to the Internet.
Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.
Error code: ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED"

I checked my firewall and my antivirus software. They're not blocking chrome in any way.
It is very strange that this happens ONLY when I try to access https://crypto-trade.com/. I'm guessing there may be something wrong with the site. Also, I wonder if changing my IP would help. I tried to access from my second pc, the result is the same by the way.

I won't be able to buy UTC without entering it's exchange. I'd appreciate any help.

I'm on chrome and the sites working great - try rebooting and using a couple differnet browsers.

I still prefer no government intervention in the exchanges - Fresh Market was a new untested exchange.  Even on the larger exchanges, I usually move money in for trade, then move it back out and store it in either a brain wallet or my secure machine.  When I do leave it in,  I leave it distributed in small amounts on multiple exchanges just in case something like this happens.  Invest defensively folks!  You want government regulation?  Watch your profits fly into the politicians pockets - it can be stolen either way - but you CAN"T protect yourself from the government!

Hater's gonna hate a rival coin just show's how childish they are tho when they spread FUD

Son, I'm into coins since 2011 when BTC traded at 2,40 bucks and I have taken my share.

I'm not planning investing into any coin which gives me 'bum' ROI.

A "founder",  a "dev" and an "external consultant" have absorbed  80 BTC == 64000,- USD.
Was the performance of these folks adequate for that salary?

I don't care how much they make, as long that money isn't coming from my wallet.
From experience I have seen these folks of such kind being fast in making money
but even faster in squandering their booty. Wink

Now 2,000,000 UTC are waiting to be resold.
You don't have to be a genius envisaging future price action.

So noobs and newbies mining this coin will have an interesting learning experience to do.

I've also been buying BTC since 2011 - and things have changed radically since then.  There was no competition, there was no general knowledge of crypto-currencies and they certainly had no (or very litte) value.  Today there is a plethora of coins, intense competition and the knowledge that they can be very valuable.  There are people invested in coin A that look at coin B with contempt and/or jealousy and people angry they didn't get in "early" enough or make enough money who would like to damage a new coin.  With the dangers involved in establishing a new coin, I think hiring a team of people knowledgable in SEO and marketing and such is a good idea.  How much are coders going to know about these areas?  So I am not upset that an initial investment was needed to get the coin goin.  If it doesn't work, at least they tried - and thats the risk we take (I'm an origing stakeholder).  But I think this coin probably will do well.  (my definition of well is $0.30 to $0.50 per coin).

$0.30...? I wonder which price i should pay now considering i want to make some profit on my investment Wink

Btw, for all you jealous folks, as you seem mostly the fall over this 'premined issue'. how many Btc still has Mr Nakamoto available, and where they not > Premined?

I know that Bum is doing the best he can.. (but some folks are never to make happy, they assume the world operates on 100% credit/working)

I should qualify that $0.30 to $0.50 - I am talking the immediate future - and the closer we get to the feb 7 the more people will buy in anticipation of a price rise we could get close to that - and when it opens on the bigger exchange approaching a dollar could be possible.  I've thought of mining coins, but the reading I've done says that even is mining is mostly speculative - mining is usually a close to break-even endeavor that only becomes profitable when the coin increases in price - at a later date.

I said it before and I will say it again "I Am A Stakeholder" with 20,000 coins - I have not sold and will never "dump".  I am a long term investor, I invested cheaply in many coins and am waiting several years to see where they go.  Even then, I won't "dump" as that drives the price down.  I leave my funds in crypto - don't like fiat - and I only cash out in small amounts when needed as I am already doing well financially.

As for the trolls - look at the flip side of this - a lot of trolls is actually a good sign - these are people who desperately want more coins, but they are trying to drive the price down before buying by bad-mouthing the coin.  If there was no demand for the coin, there would be no trolls.
