My 8 year old knew about bitcoin from playing "Bitcoin Billionaire" on iOS. I looked at the game and laughed but the concept of mining with a computer were there along with a knowledge of digital currency as a replacement for money.

I'm a law student.
Here's the thing. You can constructively leave a password, or a key to a safe containing a password, completely legally as a method of constructively giving access to money to someone else. It should be clear what the value of that asset is, though. Currently, legally, bitcoin is classified as mostly a security commodity, and should be treated as such.

By not leaving the wealth in a will, the property that results will likely go into probate, and other relatives could very well start arguing about who it belongs to. That's always bad news. You never know who in the family is greedy, or just thinks they're entitled to some property. Death does weird things to people.

The best option, in my opinion, is to form a trust with the bitcoin. With a trust, you appoint a trustee to manage the trust, and a beneficiary to profit from it. You submit a document detailing how you would like to manage the trust. By law in literally every US jurisdiction, that trustee can change the structure of the trust based on the circumstances surrounding the management of that trust.

As such, in the event that bitcoin is for whatever reason going to shit, or if there's something else less risky and more profitable at some point, the trustee has the ability to change how the trust is structured.

This is, by far, the best option no matter what you're doing.

Edit: I should probably add that this isn't legal advice. I'm a second year law student, not an attorney. I have very little experience in trusts and estates outside of class and doing paralegal-type duties in firm specializing in wills, trusts, and estates.

You should spend bitcoin to help the bitcoin economy.
If you made a lot of profit you owe taxes on any bitcoin you spend. Capital gains or w.e applies in your country.

MUCH smarter idea is simply buy new bitcoin today, and use that to spend. That way you help the bitcoin economy, you don't incur tax implications and you create buy pressure prior to the sell pressure any merchant you buy something using BTC will create when they sell that BTC you just gave them. Most merchants will sell it for fiat or use a service that does this directly without them even handling any bitcoin ever. They only want revenue from increased sales, they are not in it to hodl (Overstock is an exception).

P/s: Don't spend your investment bitcoin unless you want to pay taxes on the profit. Capital gains apply. You can buy fresh new bitcoin today right now to spend on purchases if you want to spend bitcoin to help the bitcoin economy.

Bitcoin and a couple of alts (ETH, XMR) have quickly become a huge interest of mine - after reading and thinking for some time I got in approximately 6 months ago, approximately 80% in BTC. Since I truly believe in the fundamentals I will definitely hodl the majority long term, buuuuut I am also tempted in adding some extra money for more frequent trading. Any gains would go to hodl... So far my most advanced strategy has been ""buy when it feels low"" (which has been accurate about 33% of the time...), but I would like to improve somewhat and both buy/sell with the new money I'm planning on adding.
Where should I start? What should I learn about? Even though I'm somewhat sceptical towards TA, does it work? Should I learn more about ""trading psychology"" and try to play bear/bull sentiments? Should I slowly start getting my feet into margin/leverage trading? Other advice?

Unfortunately (?...) I don't have time for fullt time day trading, so my goal is to be moderately active.

My understanding is that all cryptocurrencies are obviously encrypted and all use a blockchain for transactions. The blockchain is not owned by anyone, thus, it operates peer to peer. Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency to exist and is most widely accepted. Other cryptocurrencies, Ethereum, Litecoin, bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold. etc, are similar in nature but for me, they are just copycat cryptos, someone reinventing the wheel. I am investing in bitcoin now and see it as a viable currency into the future.

If you're in Europe, I recommend Bitstamp and Kraken. Anything with SEPA really. Also Bitstamp has had Segwit fully deployed for a long time.
