1) boot with the 2 x MOLEX plugged into the motherboard and goto BIOS
2) turn off "power warning", save and shutdown
3) unplug 2 x MOLEX from motherbaord

4)  connect PCIE RISER direct to PSU
      Connect GPU directt to PSU

5) booot and mine

guy that's very bad info, do you even know what those molex on the mobo are for? I bet not! those are to provide some supplemental power to the gpus when you are NOT using POWERED risers, under certain conditions it will send extra power to the riser which is already getting power and fry some hardware, I suggest you unplug them. those are for if you are using unpowered risers

I have this very h81 motherboard and do not have them plugged in and hmm mobo runs without them just as the version before it did, which I also have

Really? I plugged both of them.

I've seen a answer from a  Asrock support: https://imgur.com/a/QRdfM
The support is telling us to use molex power even with powered risers.

(When I unplug them, my setup don't start. I'am using powered riser.)

Weird. What kind of setup do you got going on with risers? I wonder if they are getting enough power. When you boot up, does it spin all fans on all the GPUs?

I just tried with a GPU on the 16x PCI-E + 4 GPU on riser. It's now working....

WTF is this.

Now having GPU detected but show as not usable:

Right click and go to Properties, I bet its error Code 12.

Nope, it's a error code 31.

I uninstalled and re installed the driver. But I can't even boot on the GPU now Sad

EDIT: Booted after 3 force restart. Still error code 31

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/942959/error-message-when-you-attach-a-pci-express-expansion-chassis-to-a-com

Just like I said......its for Error 12 or Error 31.

intsall the latest CU

Now none GPU are detected Sad. Only have the intel HD graphic

What version of Windows 10 are you running? SHould be 16299.201

Make sure you are on Gen 2 still in BIOS, does it show "basic display device" in Device manager?

I have the latest update of windows 10 now.

Yes I swap auto to Gen 2 in BIOS.

Now, it only detect if I directly put the GPU on the 16x PCIE on the mother board.
seems not detecting the risers.

I just got mine all setup last night.

Use both 4-pin slots on the motherboard.
Make sure your Windows 10 is on version 1709 and the latest CU.
In BIOS set PCI-E to Gen2

Done, I set PCI-E to Gen2.
My windows isn't updated yet, is it really important ?

Still not working

You means the warning message that display before the boot ? I already disable it with the "N" key.

What you mean by direct to PSU ? You means direct 8 pins to 6 pins to power GPU and risers?

I don't have enough 8pins slots on the PSU.

That's why I use 6 pins to molex, then molex to 6 pins converter.

The second possibility I see is the PCIE power port on the motherboard. Should I power both of them with molex ?
As long as you use risers with external power supply - no, no need to power them

Quote
The third possibility I see is a bad BIOS setting
There are no special settings for this setup to work, only handy things like automatically power on system after power outage

Quote
But it's not working, the GPU isn't detected. But if I swap the Molex to 6 pins on the GPU and the 8 pins to 6 pins on the riser, it works
So don't know why it's enough to power the GPU but not the riser ?
Do you have a multimeter? The best way to find out is to check voltage for a start

No, I don't have multimeter. Will try without the molex converter to see. May it will work with 8 pins to 6 pins. (But no enough 8 pins to 6pins slots to power all the 5 GPU + Risers)

RIG setup / GPU detection - Asrock H81 issues
by

on 24/01/2018, 13:19:45 UTC
Hi all,

Recently I just bought all the components for my first rig. But I'm having issues to make all of them work together.
What I bought:

- AsRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0
- Intel Pentium G3260 3.3 GHz 3mo Cache Socket 1150
- ddr3 ram
- ssd
- 6* Risers (6 pins powered)
- Corsair HX1000i
- 5*Zotac GTX 1060 6GB mini

I searched on the forum, most of times it's due to bad risers, but I checked each risers one by one. All of them are working.

But when I try to put more than 1 GPU, there is detection issues.

I don't know what I did wrong. I see 3 possibilities:

After reading the forum, I understood that I shouldn't use the SATA converter in the riser package to power the riser(overheat, melting etc..). So I used somes Molex to 6 pins converter to power it.
example of converter I'am using: https://i.rue-montgallet.com/809317-adaptateur-molex-vers-pcie-6pins.jpg
But it's not working, the GPU isn't detected. But if I swap the Molex to 6 pins on the GPU and the 8 pins to 6 pins on the riser, it works.

So don't know why it's enough to power the GPU but not the riser ?

The second possibility I see is the PCIE power port on the motherboard. Should I power both of them with molex ?

The third possibility I see is a bad BIOS setting, for now, I only swaped primary GPU display from PCIE to Onboard.
(With PCIE I have a black screen.).

Thank you

But I didn't find stuff for newbies. Only pro tips Tongue.

Edit: My project is to start mining ZCL with my 1070 first. Then take rigs.

Hi,

I'am trying to find ressources about how to start mining with GPU.
Can someone tell me where to find it ?

Thanks
