Re: [ANN] Fastcoin - FST - The Fastest coin so far in the market - is launched!!

Please update to the latest version, 1.14.2. Your wallets from previous clients are fully compatible with the new client and testing has been successful.

Fastcoin has gained some ground in 2021 with a new marketing team, additional developers and a lot of new interest. There were a few changes that needed to be made, this was to help maintain the overall health of the blockchain. This is especially so for protecting the blockchain in the event that, at any point, Fastcoin inherits an influx of miners attempting to stress the network.

Fastcoin now supports merge mining, auxiliary proof of work, or AUX-POW. This method was first used by Namecoin in 2011 and was always planned for a future release someday. Fastcoin was almost too fast. In order to maintain a fully stable blockchain, not only for clients but also for exchanges, the 12 second block target was extended to 60 seconds. This is to ensure both stability and speed which go hand and hand for those hosting servers. Looking forward to seeing where Fastcoin finds it's place in the future.

RELEASE : v1.14.3.2

Fastcoin - Celebrating over eight years of fast & secure transactions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Total coins will be 165,888,000.
- 60 second block target (Modified in 2021)

Thanks to Theymos, my account has been recovered and all of my old posts have been moved to this current account. I now have access to both m0gliE and m0gliEz. My account no longer contains the 2977 posts that were not made by me, however, the previous posts, 127 that were made by me have remained. This was due to the database breech that Bitcointalk.org had back in 2016 where my account, along with many others were sold off to innocent parties with the desire to gain their post status as well as their account reputation.

I didn't give up, although I did assume I would never regain my account again. I had proof of ownership and it took a bit of time before their fraud recovery team could come to the conclusion that in fact, I am the true original owner of this account.

Thank you all for your patience, this has been a long time waiting and caused me to drop interest in the cryptocurrency scene for years.

I plan on being more active, on here and on reddit. I also plan to gather up a new team of developers to assist in moving forward with Fastcoin.

I went ahead and put the P2Pool back up, everything should still work as it did before.

Use Stratum: -o stratum+tcp://bte.thecomputerfield.com:5152 -u -p

Just as a reminder, there are no accounts or coins stored by the pool. No confirmations to wait for....your coins are sent to you as soon as a block is found. Every block found is simultaneously announced across all the wallets in the P2Pool so there are less orphans encountered.

NOTE: If you're getting stratum auth error, be sure to use the --fix-protocol switch in your miners config.

Coingecko has been doing a good job at providing ALOT of information related to alternate cryptocurrencies. It seems like the handful of other sites that are similar, like coinwarz and coinmarketcap, just haven't put in the effort to support everyone's interest. Mind you, they have provided valuable information for both miners and investors. Bias choices have easily been made based on this information.

While miners have constantly used these sites precisely looking for the current most profitable coin to dump on an exchange, investors look to support a coin by increasing it's market cap in order to gain more attention and ranks which will later increase only their profits until they cash in. If the miners aren't dumping their new alts on an exchange to turn out a wee-bit of profits, then they are simply an enthusiast who is collecting with high hopes of someday cashing in for even bigger profits at the expense of others.

I think the mentality needs to change when thinking about alts, particularly when it comes to usability, functionality and overall sustainability. Most importantly, one should ensure the coin they look to support doesn't have a group of anonymous developers who are only interested in counterfeiting coins for a short time and who have nothing else better to do with their lives and their time.

Now I'll mention Fastcoin, because it works, it's stable, it's been around almost two years and has been able to withstand multiple attempts of attack all while holding it's own weight. It hasn't needed huge publicity, nor has it needed a bootstrapped, high flutin' flashy website that appeals to those looking for eye candy. It's just a super fast coin with a good re-targeting algorithm and true to it's name.

The Krugercoin wallet completely synced for me, then I went ahead and sent a transaction to the Cryptsy exchange. Everything still works as expected, just because a coin doesn't get very many posts on this "Bitcoin" forum, does not necessarily mean it is 'dead'.

Re: About Cryptsy API Bug
by
m0gliE
on 22/08/2014, 04:44:04 UTC
A month ago I reported a bug within the Cryptsy API. They have acknowledge the bug and originally promised to implement a fix.

Cryptsy have still not implemented any fix and as such I think it is appropriate to make other community users aware of this.

Other Exchanges have appropriate API implementations which are protected by using hash and API Key values. Each packet is signed and is made unique by using a 'nonce value' - this is an incremental number. This is used to ensure the recieved packet is unique. This is to prevent potential replay attacks ie; reusing messages/packets sent to the API.

Duplicate / non-unique packets should be ignored/dropped by the API. What Crypsty allow is the ability for a malicious user to replay the same message to the API. This would require a malicious user to obtain a copy of your API Key and also the ability to packet capture from your local computer.

It is a relatively low risk attack vector but it's important that Cryptsy address a fix. We have seen other data leakage caused by bugs/vulnerabilities within OpenSSL which could contain sensitive data such as an API Key! If a malicious user was capable of exploiting this they would perform repeated actions using a replay attack.

Cryptsy really should have built in some sort of mechanism that would prevent any type of replay attacks. An avoidance as simple as something like expiring tokens, hases values, or anything that invalidates after each process is finished. This would also work with HTTP and not just HTTPS which it's not even using.

I'm glad you made this post IGHOR, like I said earlier, somebody over at cryptsy needs a swift kick in the ass.  Angry

The difficulty has decreased 4X.
Hashpower has been re-allocated to the chain.

http://cryptoexplorer.udf.me/explore.php?height=42335&cid=67&coinname=Bytecoin

block 42335
difficulty 1083438.2950277
time August 11, 2014, 2:05 pm

block 42336
difficulty 270859.57375692
time August 11, 2014, 3:27 pm

block 43214
difficulty 270859.57375692
time August 12, 2014, 12:24 am

calculated network hashrate today:
(878 blocks * 24 hours / 9 hours) / 144 blocks * 270859 difficulty * 2**32 / 600 --> 31.52 TH/s

calculated network hashrate last difficulty epoch:
block 40320  February 7, 2014, 6:07 am through block 42335

185 days, 8 hours --> 26,687 blocks expected.
2016 / 26,687 * 1,083,438 * 2**32 / 600e9 --> 585 GH/s

Finally, this is some great news!

Thanks Lesni, I've added it to the website:
http://emeraldcoin.info/emd-pools/

Personally I'm thinking we should hand over the development of EMD to the Diamondcoin team so that it can be merge mined, what's everyone's opinion on this.. ?

I think the merged mining with DMD would only be a short-term solution to a much bigger issue. There would be a rise in price at the beginning, but for long-term growth and success a coin needs services and/or items that can be bought and sold. Without "real-world" uses for a currency, it will always be limited in it's potential.

I think what you have been doing to try and revitalize interest in Emerald is great. I have watched this currency for a few months, but have not mined any until today. It seems to be terribly undervalued, at the moment, and in need of a shot in the arm to get it going again. I am not sure that tying it in with another currency would be the best solution.

The biggest issue, facing Emerald, is the low net hash rate which allows the multipools to manipulate mining. Even with a different difficulty adjustment schedule, this would still be an issue. If more miners are not attracted to the "regular" pools, then multipools will keep mining, then dumping and driving the price down until it is no longer profitable to mine for them. At that point, you have driven away most of your community that was behind it.

Changing algos could help, but there are numerous X11, X13, Groestl, etc coins already on the market and I do not believe that it would make much of a difference in people adopting the currency. The number of good scrypt POW coins is small (and getting smaller as more go to PoS or another algo). I know GPU miners hate the Asics coming in and disrupting their easy mining, but it is really no different than the multipools that are already raping the currency. An asics' user will stay on a pool 24/7 mining a profitable coin (or one they believe has potential) and keep the difficulty fairly even instead creating wild swings like the multipools do.

I believe the best option would be a fork to implement the latest BitCoin core and add a difficulty adjustment schedule to even the peaks and valleys out somewhat. The new BitCoin core has numerous advantages over the LiteCoin core on which Emerald is based. I know a couple of people who might be willing to help in this capacity.

I am willing to help, where I can, to resurrect Emerald. Just send me a PM and we can see what can be done.

@Lesnik - The wallet works great on Win 8.1. Synced right up with no problems. Thanks.

I have to agree here, it wouldn't be hard to implement some changes to Emerald to keep things up to date. Nothing drastic needs to be done, some checkpoint updates, including KGW, modified re-targeting, etc... At no point soon do I see the need to merge this coin with another or change the algorithm.

the current wallet posted a few posts back does not work for solo mining. for me anyway

Use the one you can download from http://emeraldcoin.info/emd-pools/ hosted on Mega.  I believe that's our semi-official website for now.  It's the one I'm using and it works fine.  I think I'd stay away from wallets and block chains individual users post, unless you're really confident in the person (are they active and an authority in that particular coin's community.)  They can cause problems.  And it really doesn't take that long to download a block chain.  Maybe a day or so at worst, unless the coin has problems.  It's worth making sure you get the right one.

I'm pretty sure m0gliE has exactly 2 posts in this thread, one was the block chain and the other was the one you indicated with links to his wallet.  Not slamming m0gliE, I don't know him, just words of caution.  He's not a regular here.

Hey, I resolved his problem, he was trying to solo mine and was using port 12128 instead of default rpcport=12328.

"well shit there we go, wrong port number all along. Thx dude"

thanks for the low blow, the amount of posts hardly speak for what is conducted on IRC.

All I did was provide the links because there weren't any working at the time.

I also created the emerald bootstrap.dat to help those who had problems syncing. It's not a personal zipped up copy of blk*.dat's you copy/pasta.

Join me on IRC if you'd like to talk more.
