Vitalik Buterin and The Ethereum Foundation have 70,000,000 ETH (77% of capitalisation)
I would love to see a source for this.

It's much better now in 2017 IMO
I think it's currently at its worst. Bitcoin is completely divided into two halves and depending on what site or subreddit you're on, all the other coins/tokens are viewed as the enemy.

Re: Why is bitcoin the most popular cryptocurrency?

I believe that they're popular mainly because well it was the first of all cryptocurrencies to be made. Honestly most of the other coins are scams and greedy ways that the developers make money. The only other coin I can think of that isn't a scam are dogecoins! What do you think?

Bitcoin is the most popular of all the digital currencies because it is the first of them all. Without bitcoin, I don't think that there will be an emerging digital currency. Also, as the first and original digital currency,  it has the highest price of them all, so the tedency of the users are to be attracted to it because it has the most price.
yes that is very right that bitcoin s the first most crypto currency which is created mostly for only trading and shopping. i am sure that n future bitcoin will become more successful and will have very bright future. therefore if some one is interested to become part of this crypto currency then he should invest money here because very soon the price of bitcoin s going to increase too much and then it will out of reach of most of the people.
It's not going to be out of reach, you can always buy a tiny fraction of a Bitcoin.

Of all the coins out there the only one you think isn't a scam is bitcoin and doge? Crazy! I think you're confusing a scam with simply being overvalued.

Also to answer the topic, it's because it was first on the scene. Plenty of other cryptos are technically "better" than Bitcoin, but they'll never make it, they're simply too late.

I think scam is the wrong word. It has value, but in my opinion it's overvalued.

I have invested in the following cryptos: XRP, Bancor, Blackcoin, Agoras, Siacoin, DOGE, REDDCOIN, Bytecoin and ICO Tezos.

Did you guys think I invested in good things for long term?
Personally I think XRP and Bancor are too big of a risk to invest in.

But I've been wrong before about crypto, and I probably will be again

Yeah they mean Basic Attention Token.

This is one of those things where it will probably be a good investment and make a lot of money if I'm willing to hold onto it until the major news comes out, but I trust regular ol' Ether too much to split off a portion.

Excited to hate myself once I see the gains.

I would keep your money in ETH unless something stands out to you as not only a good product, but underhyped.

Big fan of anything that brings Bitcoin to the world, but I am very interested to see how they approach this. As users already said the transaction times and fees will be a hurdle as the currency at the moment feels more like a storage of wealth than a unit for small quick transactions.
