Would i need a hard drive (ssd) to operate it?
asking for a friend...
a pc most likely. most of the ones like it need a pc. but to be fair I know some are stand alone. just the internet.
I never ran a bitaxe model but 15-20 watts pointed to ckpool seems like fun.
When I get it I will review it.
Hmm, a PC... I don't have one up 24/7, but a Raspberry Pi4 would possibly be enough?
Those Pi's are silent and low on power consumption, but they are not the most reliable mini-devices, i needed to hard-reboot mine (Pi3, Pi4) every couple of weeks when they went into some state like
Guru Meditation (for Commodore Amiga lovers).
I have a bitaxe with 500GH/s and it does not require a PC or hard drive. you can configure it with a mobile phone. but you need a wireless network to connect the device to the internet.
my best difficulty missed finding a block by the factor of 1 million

Yay, then this one might be right for me. For helping the network, mainly. IDC if it finds a block or not.
Well, to be precise, i will care if it finds one, of course

I got a couple of the early bitaxes.
They are standalone and can be setup using your phone so long as they have wifi access (2.4Ghz).
These early ones only hash at around 500Ghs.
I found the avalon nano 3 a better buy.
They hash at around 3 to 5 Ths depending on the settings.
However they also consume a bit more power at around 90 watts or so.
I have 3 of these dotted around the house as they act as very small space heaters.
