If anyone is searching for or trying to get 7 GPUs to work with the Gigabyte GA-Z270P-D3 motherboard that is linked in the original post, I finally got mine working yesterday.
Install the m2 adapter as per motherboard manual (basically, use the little tool to unscrew the m2 screw, insert the adapter on an angle, use the tool to screw down) You do not need to attach the additional 4 pin power cable as you're not power the card directly from it. Make sure when you power up the machine that the little 3.3v LED lights up (mine was bright white)
Plug in all of your video cards
Download and install the Gigabyte Mining BIOS (currently BIOS MIN.8a) from https://www.gigabyte.com/MicroSite/462/mining.html Follow the BIOS update instructions but do not follow Gigabyte's BIOS tweak instructions. They don't work with nvOC!
Your machine will now reboot directly to the BIOS menu as it can't read from the boot device without some BIOS tweaks
Navigate to the BIOS sub menu and change Windows 8/10 features to "Windows 8/10"
Change CSM Support to "Enabled"
Navigate to MIT submenu and set Max Link Speed to "Gen2"
Navigate to Peripherals submenu and setup Initial Video Output to "PCIe slot 1"
Ensure Allow 4G Decoding is set to "Enabled" (it was enabled already in BIOS MIN.8a for me)
Navigate to the Chipset submenu and change Internal Graphics to "Disabled"
Change Audio Controller to "Disabled"
Navigate to Power submenu and set Wake on Power to "Always ON"
Navigate to Save & Exit and select to Save & Exit
Happy days, you can now use 7 GPUs with your Gigabyte z270!
Trying to download nvOC-V0019-2.0.img.tar.gz however every copy I've got (direct and gdrive) have given an error from 7zip saying the file must be broken when I try to extract it.
Any issues or a good source to get it from?
I would suggest you to verify checksum of the downloaded zip and use winrar to extract it.
Thanks, Powershell is reporting the checksum is wrong. I've tried downloading about 10 times using each different source, using different downloader programs (including just straight through Chrome) and can't get anything that will extract, except for nvOC_v0019.zip. I've tried 7zip and Winrar to extract, but the incorrect checksums kind of mean the archive program doesn't matter at this point.
How to check the SHA256 hash code using windows command prompt (you can also check other hashing algorithm codes too) :
* Open command prompt, navigate to the directory where you have the target file
* Type this command & wait for a while to generate the hash (does take some time)
certUtil -hashfile fileToCheck SHA256
Have tried downloading again. NinjaDownloader reports it has downloaded correctly.
Running that command has given me 42dc4a51037e50a658e3717e020bf178f76d6113a3cc27e01ce08c186126dacc I've got the same broken file error in 7zip and winrar is saying checksum error.
Downloading with Chrome never seems to complete, drops out around 2G mostly. I'm on 40/100 fibre Internet so shouldn't be that.
Thanks for all your help on this. Seems it may be something to do with instability between hosting location and Australia. Even the Google Drive downloads were failing however after copying the file in to my personal Gdrive and syncing from there all is now ok.
Might be something worth mentioning on the download page if anyone else has had issues with downloads dropping out?
