It seems others could solve this problem by a mobo bios update, but I have the most recent one on my board, so its a no-go for me.

I wanted to merge two of my dual card rigs into a single rig.

The one with the asrock mobo perfectly works with 2x 7850 gpus, but wont even boot with 1  VTX3D 7870 tahiti le card (with or without the new risers). The 7870s perfectly worked in my ASUS P5K motherboard, but it has only 3 slots unfortunately.

I just can't understand how is it possible that a 1 month old gpu does not work in my ASROCK 870 EXTREME 3 R2 motherboard. I have the most recent bios flashed on it.

Anyone experienced something similiar?

I'd add a secondary PSU for better efficiency, and run 2 cards+ mobo on the first, 3 cards on the second.

OP could not even post to the proper subforum.

It is a really simple cable that switches a secondary PSU on. It does not affect performance at all.

Even if you have free electricity, it is extremely bad for a laptop to be stressed 24/7 because of the heat. It will fry itself in no time.

Can you ship 16x 16x extenders on the 24th, which were already ordered last week?

I'm doing my best to keep them under 75C.

And try a bios reset just to be safe.

You see, only two cables go to the 2nd PSU. It works like the paperclip trick, but it is much safer and more convenient. You can use any ATX PSU as a secondary PSU.
