editors changed their mind Smiley there is also a PDF version that you can purchase via Nxt Marketplace for 1 USD: https://nxtforum.org/ebooks/the-mysteries-and-puzzles-behind-the-cryptonote-technology-(theses)/ (view at http://76.176.198.6/market/ ) - it is interesting that it is really possible to buy and sell books by using Nxt blockchain Smiley

Wow! You have very interesting thread there on nxtforum.org.
The mysteries and puzzles behind the CryptoNote technology -> that's what attract people at first to start mining BCN and that's what make it more interesting and true crypto note coin

why no dev gui wallet?
why ? why?
bytecoin > BTC

Do you actually need one at this moment in time?
The CLI does everything a gui wallet can do.
Things like the multi signatures and further API development, as well as security, of course are much more interesting for the long term. Bytecoin is not a pump & dump and is here for the long term.

What make you so convenient that it is a long term coin not like BBQ coin? or other coins?
I am not so long ago came across this coin and mentioned it has almost no promotion that cause its low popularity and it low price, I think
From the updates we are seeing this is a long term project. The quality of the related projects is also extremely high.

I am sure Bytecoin has all necessary features to be long term project
Low popularity is a result of lack of promotion. BCN devs didn't pay much attention for promoting the coin that's why there a lot of people who haven't heard about BCN yet

Why don't the developers promote the coin? Promotion is as necessary as technology, service support, the name of the coin and updates. Now i can see that developers pay attention only to the code and have forgotten about other necessary things to move the coin forward.

I can't answer from their on their behalf but I think that they've set the priorities so that in the first place is the development of code and they don't have enough time to think about other things necessary to make coin popular. But I might be wrong, I just wrote my own suggestion

never heard of pandacoin, darkcoin though is on most people lists

I also haven't heard about pandacoin. Darkcoin is pretty nice coin but, IMO, it's better tom invest in BCN, BBR or DOGE !

And what about gmaxwell ? He is one of BCN mines for a months and made a lot of researches before started mining.
I don't know who is your professor so he has zaeo credibility for me.

I was at Bitcoin London Conf in 2012 and went to have a beer with friends to the nearest pub last evening. I met a guy there (don't remember his name. something like Jeff or John, maybe).
He told me about ring signatures and mentioned something about CryptoNote. I felt interested and tried to ask him for more details. He was with a company too(10 or 12 people meetup) so our conversation was rather short. We chatted a bit and he gave me a card with .onion website address. He said it would be a currency of the future and I had to mine it.
Your BCT account looks suspiciously like one of the ones that was sold after the bct hacks last year.

Do you have the onion address you were given? Do you still have the bytecoin wallet?

----

We all know there is a lot of secrecy around ByteCoin and that it was a project by respected cyberpunks and academics all around the world. The code on github and philosophy around the project says enough.. Why you want proof with a onion address?? Dont you believe more people where involved instead of a small team..

One example is the extra nonce and all the messages included, did someone fake all that data? I dont know but its pretty clear to me that the project was created as a framework for the future. Another example about the quality; the timestamp of the genesis block.

ps. one extra nonce i did not find in the excell sheet, the one as solution from a puzzle.

In addition, CN dev team has many times pointed that there were about 10 groups of miners in 2012-2014

That red flags listed by rethink-your-strategy are nothing but words. The list of names on bytecoin.org are just pseudonyms.

If there were their true name, no doubt you'd recognize them as the crypto night algorithm is hard enough to create. That's obvious that only great mathematicians and computer scientists were able to create such algorithm. And if they decided to hide their true names that's their right.

That was already discussed that BCT was indeed in in deep web. There was an old bcn community on reddit but their sub reddit is private and you need a password to join (I don't know the password)

I've got a question: am I right, you don't need to write ''exit'' in command line now? the sync would be automatically saved?

Exactly ! You don't need to use this command when you end mining. That's good for people like me who sometimes forget to use wallet commands

Hello!
You've done a lot to develop such a great site!
It would be great if you add Bytecoin (BCN) to it. This coin needs much more attention!!!
It is CN-based coin with good dev team consists of professional programmers who really work on improving the coin's code to make it as good as Bitcoin, and even better!

Wish to see BCN on your site soon.  Wink

That was discussed a long ago on Monero thread  - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg6593768#msg6593768
Note there was Hexah and he was absolutely right in his arguments and until he and other guys made some noise monero devs were not thinking about sharing theire optimizer with the usual miners

It seems that there is someone out there with an enormous amount of hashing power.

This screencap is taken from Minergate.

His hashrate is equivalent of 1000 Radeon 290.... or 6000 intel haswell cores

Most likely explanation is a botnet.

I read that the devs of BCN use botnet to make fake demand for this coin. Is it true ?

Nope, it's Monero botnet is mining Monero as usual:

That's not the first time Monero developers use botnet and instamine coins

I don't know if these two events (multi-sig txns and BCN launch) were somehow connected with each other but no doubt both of them have influenced on Crypto Currency world.

I agree that multi-sig is great. That's good for BCN community that devs have implemented multi-sig txns as they make txns with the use of escrow completely transparent and protected from fraud

Noob question but what is ''multi-sig txns''? how does it work?

''multi-sig txns'' - Multi-signature transactions are actually transactions from multisignature addresses (addresses requiring n sigs)

It is used to avoid losing coin holders money if they authorize payment to a seller who fails to deliver, or if an exchange holding their private information gets penetrated by hackers.

I just saw some Monero troll said that he doesnt post here anymore because nothing is happening and apparently we are not relevant.
And you know what - i agree, we need more ACTION!

As the first CryptoNote coin, Bytecoin will always be relevant. The Bytecoin devs have always been really quiet for some reason though. DStrange said something about something big coming up soon didn't he? Has it already happened? Anyone have any news of what it could be?

+1 , Bytecoin will always be relevant. That just Monero trolls as you have said,DumDumz. Just remember, haters are gonna hate.

I am glad to hear that BCN devs have an intention to focus more on user adoption. I think that's what we need right now.
After this article I'm looking forward to see what are they working at right now  Smiley

I am sure they are working on something significant for BCN and crypto currency world.

One of the reasons why I mine Bytecoin is that it require less energy to mine this coin than Bitcoin.
So, Bytecoin is more ecological coin than BTC. IMO, it's an important advantage in the area when environmental issues have risen to the fore

Agree

Well, nowadays Bytecoin is like Bitcoin in 2009 - it's up to date coin which is true anonymous and recently have got more user-friendly interface with gui wallet.

Technology evolves over time and now there is CryptoNote Technology with its ring signature and private keys which make transactions even more anonymous. Indeed, BCN became more friendly to new users as gui wallet has appeared.

Do you know there is "Cryptonite XCN is the new software for completely anonymous and untraceable transactions" ??

Is that wallet legit?  Don't see much info about it anywhere else.

Edit: Crashes upon opening

That's because it's still need some fixes. Soon it's gonna work well.

I have to respectfully request that you change the name and currency code of this coin. As mentioned by rethink-your-strategy, I am a week away from releasing a coin called Cryptonite, nearly 4 months has been been spent on development and it took us a long time to come up with a decent name which wasn't already taken. We have been publicly testing Cryptonite for a long time and we claimed the name and the currency code way before you announced this coin. So please, don't be a douche.

Your use of that name is also questionable and likely to lead to confusion because the PoW function for the Cryptonote family of coins is also called CryptoNight. That has been the case since at least March when these coins began to surface, if not earlier. The white paper is dated from October.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/CryptoNight

Agree with Smooth that the use of "cryptonite'' is really questionable, it even made me feel confused cause ''cryptonite'' sounds the same as ''cryptonight''. And when I've met with a coin (cryptonite) it was in a dialogue with my friend about BCN.
