Interpol Builds Their Own Digital Currency
by
magic ice
on 22/04/2015, 04:28:43 UTC
Interpol might be thinking that they should be fighting fire with fire as Global Complex for Innovation, Interpol's cyber-crime facility, are set to build their own digital currency in an attempt to battle crimes that involves cryptocurrency.

Is this the best idea coming from international police authorities to fight crypto-related crimes?

Does Bitcoin Has What It Takes To Replace Fiat?
by
magic ice
on 22/04/2015, 04:06:55 UTC
Last year Bitcoin was labeled as the worst investment of 2014, however, bitcoin believers can topple fiat currencies as the widely used mode of payment all over the world. The technology behind it and bitcoin's scarcity can both pose a threat and bitcoin's selling factor. But the question is, can bitcoin really substitute dollar or other currency sometime soon?

Re: Did you mine it or buy it?
by
magic ice
on 11/04/2015, 04:27:09 UTC
I'd like to ask the users here about how you got started in bitcoins and how you acquire bitcoins.

So the two questions are:

1. When you started, did you MINE or did you BUY bitcons?

2. If you are a regular user of bitcoins currently, do you MINE or do you BUY bitcoins?

To start off the discussion, I can only answer question 1. I mined bitcoins when I started. Then I bought and sold bitcoins through an exchange.
I cannot answer question 2 because I'm no longer a regular user of bitcions.

I started with a given bitcoin. And when I say given, it was transferred to me without any services rendered.
Maybe that is the best way to introduce bitcoin to someone, give it away.

Re: Banks and Bitcoin
by

Hi evrybody,

i have a general question.

in your opinion, how banks can earn with bitcoin?

Banks already accept that the technology behind bitcoin has a lot of potential.

Some banks are already testing it like BNY Mellon of Wall Street:

Unionbank of Switzerland even made a lab for the study of the technology

First of all i never heard about this coin.

they are bankrupt supposedly so what value would be left in this psudo company?

id suggest being able to come up with 6 months salary for all the board members

would be about the maximum buyout value if not 6 weeks

I'll buy the foundation for 5 Litecoin. I think i could be getting the deal because this bid is very generous already!

lol.. as far as I know, the foundation is not for sale.

Re: Is Bitcoin Money or Currency
by

Your quoted defintions suck don't they.

Money is "monnaie", coming from "Juno Moneta":

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moneta

This word has a little bit of history pointing towards a "State" interpretation, which depending on what that means to you it might suggest bitcoin is not really money.  Some have certainly claimed so and this is a defensible claim in the context of it not being coinage of a Romanesque State-claiming apparatus.

On the other hand, in common English money has taken more of a general usage, (i.e. the money shot, "that was money", "what's up money?", etc.)  and as such is more often taken to mean any exchange commodity.  Because any and all things could be used as exchange commodities, we could therefore argue that bitcoin is an effective money.  Context is important here going between the different meanings.

As to currency, this implies a "running" or a flow, meaning that many people use it.  Cigarettes are therefore currency in some places but not in others.  Bitcoin is currency insomuch as (if) there is a large community of people using it as an exchange commodity.

Well your definition is boring and no one reads boring comments. lol

Why do you think banks like UBS and BNY Mellon are experimenting with bitcoin.

a. They are interested with bitcoin and want to integrate with it

b. They want to crash bitcoin thats why theyre doing background check

c. They want to make their own digital currency

d. What do you think?

I think the 'foundation' is just financially challenged because of overspending in the last 2 years and not 'bankrupt' as you said.
For sure they are still capable of running the show and Janssens outburst will help the foundation get back up.

But as the article said, their move was to oust Murck and replace it with someone who can help them with this issue.

Money is unreal, meaning imaginary, intangible - a concept.

Currency is NOT money, but merely represents money.

So, bitcoin is... ?

Re: Bitcoin TREZOR review and promo code
by
magic ice
on 20/10/2014, 13:04:25 UTC
I've recently had the chance to get my hand on a Bitcoin TREZOR in the Bitcoin Expo in Shanghai. The device is pretty cool and seems to give you the best of both worlds - the security of an offline wallet with the flexibility of a hot wallet. I've compiled my Bitcoin TREZOR review here and also managed to get a 10% promo code from Alena the CEO of TREZOR until October 23rd.

The only thing I'm still struggling with is trying to go through the recovery process (mentioned in the review), if anyone managed to do this I'd like to know if you managed to do this smoothly - mine gets stuck half way.

So are you in any way connected with this site? You might as well be honest here..
